More than 350,000 customers are without power on Long Island, according to the Long Island Power Authority, which provides electricity to all of the Island and the Rockaways. (LIPA has a map of effected areas on its Web site,here.) A spokesman for the utility said that they serve 1.1 million customers, which means fully a third of them are in the dark.
