Cellular telephones with the area code 057 will be changing over during the course of 2015 to a new area code, 053. According to the NRG Maariv report, the Ministry of Communications has informed HOT Mobile of the planned move since the latter uses 053.

Clients will receive a new area code but the actual telephone number will remain unchanged. The change will impact all 057 numbers, including clients that moved to different carriers while maintaining their 057 area code.

Back in March 2012 the ministry granted HOT Mobile, formally MIRS, the 053 area code under the condition it ceases using 057.
