Lakewood Proposes Relocating Homeless ‘Tent City’ To Shelters

Lakewood, NJ – The township is proposing relocating about 25 squatters currently residing in a “tent camp” to homeless shelters and other temporary housing, a report in the Asbury Park Press said.

The township and the tent camp had been working together for about three years to keep the homeless sanctuary in existence, but officials said the camp’s growth has become too much, according to the report. The township said they do not want to remove anyone without finding each person temporary housing first.
