According to ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) intelligence reports, former Member of Knesset Azmi Bishara is in contact with enemy agents and may be working to enlist Israeli Arabs into service for Hizbullah.
According to Deputy Attorney General Razi Nizri, the former MK is wanted for questioning regarding his alleged terrorist ties. Members of his former party, Balad, have been warned by authorities not to contact him, fearing that his current ties with “enemies of the state” will lead to recruitment on behalf of Hizbullah.
After police announced an investigation against the MK, he announced his resignation from the Knesset through diplomatic channels, the Israeli Embassy in Cairo. It is also alleged that he profited handsomely during the Second Lebanon War in the summer of 2006, when Bishara is suspected of furnishing Hizbullah with valuable intelligence information, a move that earned him hundreds of thousands of dollars.
