Gedolim Fighting an Uphill Battle Towards Enlisting Support for Yahadut HaTorah

shas.jpgGedolei HaDor Shlita in Bnei Brak and elsewhere are having difficulties persuading many voters to cast their ballot for Yahadut HaTorah in the upcoming general election.

Some voters, who spoke out on Kol Chai Radio on Monday night explained they plan to vote for Shas, disenchanted and unable to vote for Yahadut HaTorah.

It is also being reported that when seeking support from Maran Rav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita, the response was the Rav is no longer willing to become involved in the political arena.

One prominent figure in the Eretz Yisrael chareidi community, Dudi Zilbershlag announced that he plans to vote for Shas in the election unless his rebbe releases a kol korei with his signature affixed.  In that case he explains, he is bound to adhere to the words of his Rebbe but if not, he moves to Shas “Who speaks for all frum Jews and has a Tzaddik HaDor standing at the helm” Zilbershlag adds.

Zilbershlag stressed however he will not act contrary to any specific instructions released by the Vishnitzer Rebbe Shlita, his Rebbe.

Zilbershlag stated Shas leader Eli Yishai has been a lone voice in the Knesset, exhibiting true concern for the underprivileged and those who lack the ability to fend for themselves.  He went on to state that he is proud to align himself with Yishai, who is truly an agent of the chareidi community and Am Yisrael, and is backed by a Gadol Hador.

There is much confusion and disinformation at present, but as of Tuesday night, some of the Gedolei Yisrael have not signed the kol korei calling for the tzibur to vote Gimmel in the election.

Regarding the kenos planned for Wednesday in the Beis Yisrael Hall in Yerushalayim, Satmar affiliated “persons” have already warned they plan to be outside and inside with loudspeakers – doing whatever it takes to disrupt the event, emphasizing their staunch opposition to taking part in the Zionist elections in Israel, which they deem traif.

  1. YES! Stop Voting! Let AVIGDOR LEIBERMAN become strong and represent the hard working class in the country. We are sick and tired of watching our money go to channeling a population that looks down and refuses to work! You all think i’m rich? I have 6 kids and barely have enough food to feed them. I work 60 hours a week and yes – do have a learning seder. It’s time the HEredim start showing they care about ALL OF AM YISRAEL and start working and releave the burden on us. Leibermans strength is picking up amongst the religious because we’re tired of this… WE need to feed our kids as well!

  2. I am planning on voting for shas also- they get things done and after all the goals of Gimmel are to get $ for yeshivos and kitzvat yeladim which shas are much better at , so why not?

  3. the response was the Rav is no longer willing to become involved in the political arena. SMART DECISION

Shas has a more global view which many frum citizens of Israel expound, while UTJ has always held a micro view of Israeli issues. When living in Israel for years, people shift towards global and national concerns. The frum community is looking towards Katzala and Ichud Haleumi which will be grabbing UTJ votes while Shas voters are running towards Lieberman…(?!?!?)

  4. It would probably be much better for the frum community if Degel ha-Torah and Agudah joined with Shas on a permanent basis. Shas is bigger and more sucessful, and the ideological differences are minimal.

  5. In Israeli yeshivos many of the politicians are making the rounds to encourage 18 and older bochrim to vote. They are also giving the bochrim chances to ask questions that concern them. I am actually quite pleased that this is happening as it reflects a huge change in the attitude towards the importance of voting and allows the bochrim feel that they can contribute to the election process instead of being ignored by it. Thousands and thousands of aged 18 year olds, in seminaries and yeshivot who can make a huge difference.

would you like a store in your neighborhood selling PORK open on SHABBOS with people taking the BUS to get there? If so, vote Leiberman. If not…………

when Moshiach comes, there won’t be a need for frum minority MKs.
It just seems that there are no less than 3 separate machloksim involved within “Gimmel” with everyone against everyone.

  8. Shas is bigger and more sucessful, and the ideological differences are minimal.

If yeshivos and bais yaakovs can not educate UTJ & Shas children in the same schools, then the ideological differences are seemingly HUGE!!

  9. #9 – first live in Israel then you’ll start seeing reality. Sitting pretty in Brooklyn doesn’t help you see anything.

I’d rather be able to live a normal life without people dressing like torah Jews not acting like Torah Jews stealing my money. I DONT CHOOSE to live in a neighborhood where the PORK STORES are open on SHABBAT. Unfortunately, those Goyim do more for this country than a lot of the Jews. They help the economy and help build the roads and streets – not just TAKE TAKE TAKE TAKE TAKE and pray the state burns down. ONCE YOU MOVE HERE, YOULL SEE THE MAIN REASON ISRAELIS DONT WANT TO BE RELIGIOUS IS DUE TO THE CORRUPTION IN THE HEREDI PARTIES. IF THEY ACTED LIKE JEWS, PEOPLE WOULD WANT TO ACT LIKE JEWS!

    move here and you’ll see.

    Avigdor Leiberman for Prime Minister.
