Yerushalayim Eruv Attack Again this Past Shabbos

eruv.jpgFollowing a number of weeks of quiet, the Yerushalayim eruv was once again destroyed this Shabbos. The vandalism was discovered on motzei Shabbos, with Vaad Mehadrin Eruv officials reporting that the mehadrin eruv, Eida Chareidis Eruv and Rabbanut eruv all sustaining damage – adding painfully the result was most likely unintentional chilul Shabbos by many many residents who rely on the eruv weekly.

YWN reported last month that the secularists who cut the eruv on a particular Friday night were apprehended red-handed as they continue their efforts to sabotage the eruv appear to be continuing despite efforts by representatives of the frum community to enter into a dialogue towards a mutually acceptable solution.

  1. While they are clearly wrong, perhaps if we treat the non-frum with respect they will respond appropriately. Both sides have escalated.

  2. ! “unintentional chilul Shabbos ” !

I understand that someone who relies on an eiruv that is muchzak is only misasek if it’s not okay.

  3. Will someone explain to me why there are three seperate eruvin? Can’t they all agree on the strictest standard and use the extra money to feed the hungry!

  4. wow these people are fighting over a small string/wire that is almost invisable …. what … they are so “manly ” that they fight string… how sad is that

  5. Reminds me of Flatbush about 30 years ago when chareidim vandalized the eruv established by the Vaad Harabonim of Flatbush.

  6. Really there’s no “unintentional chilul Shabbos” if the eiruv was muchzak.

It’s just misasek. There’s no sense in scaring people needlessly.
