Israel Police: How to Detect Suspicious Postal Mail

After the incidents in Israel on Monday that suspended nationwide parcel service, Israel Police Operations Branch released instructions to enable citizens to detect packages and letters that demand attention. Police should be notified in the following cases.

1. If the sender’s information does not appear or is unfamiliar.

2. If specific instructions are written in Hebrew and another languages, such a “personal” or “express”.

3. If the wrapping appears unreasonably thick, heavy or rigid for the item.

4. Any signs indicating the item was tampered with or modified.

5. If your name or address are inaccurate

6. If there is an envelope or box within a box or suspicious contents visible such as electric wire.

Police urge citizens to exercise vigilance and to telephone without hesitation. One should also refrain from attempting to open any suspicious postal delivery.
