250,000 Children Participate in 800 Lag B’Omer Parades

Yachad Shivtei Yisrael is the theme of Tzeirei Chabad’s Lab B’Omer parades around Eretz Yisrael, totaling 800 separate events involving 250,000 children. This year’s events mark the 31st consecutive year since the late Rebbe ZT”L instructed shluchim to hold Lag B’Omer events.

Tzeirei Chabad officials explain the emphasis is on achdus and this is why children from all walks of Israeli life take part in the parades.  As in past years, the main event will take place in Yerushalayim, from Shichun Chabad to Kikar Shabbos, which organizers predict will include 10,000 children. Other large events will take place in Bnei Brak, Ashdod, Tzfas, Haifa and Kfar Saba to name a few of the cities.

  1. I was there yesterday. I do not why they have to make the parade in the busiest intersection. What would be the matter with any of the big parks. It blocked the buses and taxis for blocks and blocks around and there was no way to get near geulah from any side unless you walked a considerable distance. It was a huge inconvenience wasted lots of time. I hope next year they get a little smarter and do it somewhere that won’t cause such inconvenience.

  2. 1) They have been making it in kikar shabbos for 30 years!

And what does a “waste of time” mean? Can you imagine a bigger oiftu than getting 10,000 tinkois shel beis rabban getting together like this biachdus?

  3. They can make the same oiftu with the same achdus in a place that won’t inconvenience the general population. There was a waste of time for all other good jews who simply wanted to go about their business and/or do some shopping.
