Tzfas Chief Rabbi: Neturei Karta Leader Should Not Have Been Buried in Jewish Cemetery

Tzfas Chief Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu is quoted as saying Rabbi Moshe Hirsch, the Neturei Karta leader who was niftar this week, should not have been buried in a Jewish cemetery.

According to an Israel National News report, quoting an interview with the rav on Galei Yisrael Radio, the rav explains that now, after the fact, since he was buried in a Jewish cemetery, other Jews should not be buried in proximity to his kever. He explained that he never should have been permitted to be buried in Har HaZeisim.

The report goes on to explain that a number of former Fatah officials who made a shiva visit to the mourners of the PA’s former Minister of Jewish Affairs told the aveilim they want Meah Shearim included in the area of Yerushalayim that will be given to the PA (Palestinian Authority) to serve as the capital of Palestine.

  1. kook,
    herzel,
    ben yehuda,
    rabin,

all are buried in jewish cemetaries.

moshe hirsh shouldn’t, that makes sense. can someone demostrate any tangible damage he did to klal yisroel, unlike the people named above?…

  2. The fact that you’ve included R’ Kook ztl on that list is extremely offensive, ignorant, and fosters sinas chinom on a dramatic scale. Ironic, since R’ Kook is so famous for promoting ahavas chinam.

  3. lakewooder2 once again reinforces the stereo type of “yeshivishe” arrogance
dude .. ask mechila now .. i am sure that the tzadik and kadosh R’ Kook would not hold grudges
    in addition
it is a well known axiom in halacha that we do not bury a tzadik next to a rasha
I am sure that the kadosh R’ Yoelish would also object to being buried near to that meshunedike beriah
the man caused a global chilul hashem by his visits with the various sonei yisrael
in the olam haemes he will have to give a din ve cheshbon
so will we for not taking his bully pulpit away
    &
For giving him an achuzas kever yisrael in artzeinu hakedosha

  4. I don’t think he meant to equate R’ Kook with the others. He meant, that though many Chareidim Rabbis felt that R’ Kook caused huge damage to Klal Yisroel with what he felt was good intentions, not one of them had a problem with his being buried in a Jewish cementary, extreme as they were.

  5. Let’s get this straight!
Everyone agrees that Rabbi Hirsch believed that all Jews can live safe and free in a Palestinian state. Now wether you agree to this or not, it does not make him into a Rosho. And his Anti-Zionist feelings are not any worse than other’s Anti-Chareidy feelings. So what’s all this noise?

  6. #6 “fearless lion”
What made him a rasha is embracing savages that wish to annihilate Jews.
What makes him an IDIOT is if he believed that “all Jews can live safe and free in a Palestinian state”. – NO yishmaeli ever even SAID that would ever be the case (not that one could believe them if they did!)

  7. He is a Palestinian, a Rasha Gamur! Baruch Dayan Ha’emet – the TRUE JUDGE in Shamayim will put him in his place. The Land of Israel is ours. By the Grace of Hashem we have Eretz Yisrael and Yerushalayim! I’m sure Rabbi Hirsch used the social services provided by Medinat Yisrael! What a joke. Yom Yerushalayim is on the 28th of Iyar, May 12th this year. When you are in shul sing the Hallel B’kol Rom!! We will wait for our Mashiach even longer when crazy Jews like Rabbi Hirsch support terrorists who just want to see us dead. Enough already. The whole lot of Neturai Karta should all be put in cheyrem. Sickening.

  8. lakewooder2 & Fearless Lion miss the point (as usual)

he caused a global chilul hashem as well as put millions of jews in jeopardy by aiding and abeting, taking pictures, with sonei yisroel. enough reason to ban him from achuzas kever yisrael

even in satmar they aknowledge these NK guys are over the line

to equate him with others is to grant legitimacy to the NK

perspective gentelmen and intellectual honesty …

  9. I think we should all hope that Moshe Hirsch did teshuva for his aveiras in the last minutes of his life. Of course, we should all be happy that this walking chillul hashem is no longer on this earth, but hopefully he did not die as the rasha that he was when he was alive. May all his foolish followers do a complete teshuva, bemeheira be’yameinu.
