Defense Minister Lieberman: Demands For Inquiry Into Deaths During Friday’s Gaza Riots “Hypocritical”

The day after the violent clashes that occurred on erev Shabbos along the Gaza border, due to the ‘Land Day’ march organized by Hamas, was accompanied by demands for an inquiry.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, 16 persons were killed and over 1,400 wounded from the IDF response. Some 20,000 or more Gazans lined the border to southern Israel and began confronting and attacking soldiers, with several cutting through the fence and trying to enter Israel. (Photos Below)

One of the videos being aired by Gaza media is an 18-year-old shot in the back as he was leaving the fence area. The claim is he was shot by the IDF and fell to the ground as he was fleeing the area.

The European Union is calling to probe the events and the confrontations which occurred on Friday along the border. EU officials feel there was no justification for the use of live ammunition.

The EU is demanding an independent transparent probe into the events, joined by the left-wing Meretz party, with the latter also demanding a probe. Members of the Arab List in Knesset decry the use of live ammunition against unarmed persons along the border fence, calling the actions of the IDF “murder”.

However, Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman rejected the claims against IDF activity, insisting the response was expected and appropriate. “IDF soldiers repulsed Hamas military wing operatives with determination and professionalism, just as we expected them, and I fully back them up,” he said. Lieberman in his Twitter account added “I did not understand the choir of hypocrites who wanted a commission of inquiry, they got confused and thought that Hamas organized the Woodstock Festival yesterday and we have to give them flowers.”

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu also spoke out, giving his backing to the IDF response. He praised the soldiers who are maintaining the nation’s borders, thereby permitting Israelis to enjoy a quiet holiday.

Machane Tzioni party leader Avi Gabbai also spoke out in support of IDF soldiers, explaining no one can expect to simply cross the border at will. He spoke of how tires were burned by Gazans and how soldiers were under attack, responding justifiably.

  1. To all the idiots in the EU who are demanding an independent “PROBE” of the “Gaza” border incident, it is my opinion that you should go stick your head back in the sand. Israel was indeed defending themselves against attacks and the rag heads were warned days ago about not getting too close to the fence.
Why don’t you, the EU, as well as the U.N. start seriously looking at what is going on in other countries. The murders, the tortures, the starvation, as well as the brutality to women. Stop bothering a country who is lawfully defending itself against terrorists.
Who do all you JEWISH hating countries join in with the rag heads bent on killing every Jewish person on the face of the earth.
It is absolutely amazing that you hate us to death on one hand and on the other you reap the benefits from our prosperity and inventions.
Time for you “JEWI” haters to wake up. We the Jewish people, as well as the State Of Israel are not the enemy. The biggest enemy you have in this world is “YOUR BRAIN”.

  2. The Arabs don’t and try to invade a sovereign country and they want to investigate Israel???? Hypocrisy indeed!
