What’s the deal with those who leave a piece of matza over the doorway? I’ve heard it is some kind of shmira but don’t know of a source.

By the time succos rolls around again the mice will have eaten the matzah, so they hang a new lulav. It seems more jewish to use matzah and lulavs than holy water and crosses.
P.S. this has been discussed in the CR before. Good things come to those who search.

What if it’s Kerestirer matzah?
April 27, 2014 3:22 am at 3:22 am #1012541🐵 ⌨ GamanitParticipantIt’s a piece of the afikomen, not stam matzah. It’s a minhag.

Maybe it’s to show that matza is muttar after Pesach, like the story in popa’s haggadah.
