I agree with max well when it comes to shidduchim parents try to set up a match that will fit with the family (and of course with the potential young couple) so when it comes to ruling out ppl, the ones with dissimilar backgrounds to their own are most likely to get bumped off the list.

The same principle can be applied to schools parents are very concerned with what they expose their children to. So with Baalei Teshuva in general, the difficulty is that many are holding in different places in yiddishkeit (still becoming frum all the way to fully integrated). So it only stands to reason that parents should express concern about who attends their childs school.

I definitely can see that you spent a whole lot of time in putting this concept together and it is extremely well thought out. However one of the major problems that i think the concept has is that it makes giving tzedaka impersonal.

I once heard a question as to why Hashem allows for there to be poor people in the world, one of the answers i heard was that the reason that poverty exists is so that we can get a zchus by giving them tzedaka, and not only will we get the zchus but the fact that we encounter an opportunity and try to help the person has an impact on us as a person, which we cannot afford to give up and that is exactly what will happen if it gets wired to the person straight from our bank accounts.

it is extremely hard to define what is necessary chumros aside because most of what we do kashruswise is based on a set of chumros and kulos (of course there are many things set in stone)and it is really up to the rav hamachshir what to allow or not to allow based on his understanding of the situation at hand. this is why many vaad hakashrus organizations put the name of the rav hamachshir on every publication etc because that is really who decides the policies. I worked as a mashgiach in caterers kitchen for several months so i got an idea of what goes on(not the authority on the matter but some insight)

Not only that the whole reason he posted that song in the first place is to show everybody the capabilities he has in singing, so that people will hire him to sing by their simchas. So of course he is gonna spruce up the song as much as possible, and agav i happen to like it

while i definitely understand and sympathize with your sentiments the way i understood it is that by collecting pieces of history makes him somehow cultured and important

think about it if your a billionaire you really have nothing else left to do in your life but try to get approval and acceptance from others who you believe to be above your humble beginnings so he is just trying to fit in and be a collector of history same thing goes for any objects that belonged to any murderous tyrant they still become valuable in the eyes of the bored rich people who have nothing better to do with their lives as time passes

to answer your questions craigslist is a place online where ppl can post personal ads for just about anything and then you set up a meeting with them

you should be careful of scams and fraud be very skeptical and if anything looks a tiny bit fishy then move on and like i said make sure you bring someone who is an expert in the field so they can give you an objective opinion

as for the practice i was kind of obsessed so i would pick it up and practiced several times a day in order to speed up the process but if you put in a solid hour each day which is not too hard but you have to be dedicated for like 2 weeks should do the trick but it is different for everybody and im sure your future teacher would tell you it takes a load of patience and concentration on improving your sound or tone so you have to make a firm decision and stick with it through the frustration

i have no experience with clarinet sorry flute was definately more than enough to keep me busy i think its a matter of preference i used to get wierd looks when i told ppl i played the flute but i just loved the sound so i stuck with it

good luck with your decision and if you have any more questions feel free to post and il try to help you out as best i can

as a follow up i would say to take someone with you who knows about flutes if you are shopping on craigslist i brought my teacher with me

i have been playing the flute for about two years with instruction and people told me to rent in the beginning to see if i like it but in retrospect if i had taken that route i probably would have dropped it for something easier since it takes weeks of mind numbing practice just to learn how to produce a nice sound however i stuck it out and now it sounds awesome particularly enjoy playing with an accoustic guitar

also whoever was interested in purchasing one should be constantly shecking craigs list i recently upgraded to an intermediate level flute and got a beautiful solid silver yamaha that goes for no less then 1700 for 800 and it sounds amazing

FB27 personally i think thats pretty sad if you are making up facts to support your arguments i could be reading you all wrong but maybe you should rethink your position as a poster in the cr a little and dont go on the offensive all the time another tip try to reread your posts as if you were another person and see if it might be coming across too strong because if you really want ppl to listen to what you have to say the way to go about that is definately not by insulting them even if it was unintentional

PETA’s Mideast Peace Plan: Eat Pita & Falafel

A leading animal advocacy group said the road to Mideast peace begins in a pita. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has requested Israel’s permission to post pro-vegetarian signs on both sides of its barriers with the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. PETA’s signs are in Hebrew and in English. They feature Israelis and Palestinians sitting down for a meat-free meal along with the slogans: “Give Peas a Chance,” and “Nonviolence Begins on Our Plates: Go Vegetarian.”

“Every time that we eat, we can choose not to participate in violence,” PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk wrote Wednesday in a letter. “While choosing a falafel sandwich over a lamb kebab doesn’t create instant peace, it reduces the sum total of violence and suffering in the world.”

btw i love all the emails keep em coming

i wanted to make this my signature but i dont know how if anyone could let me know how. .

I never knew the salt market was that large, but I guess some Christian guy thought that Kosher Salt controlled too large a share, because he hopes that his Christian Salt is better than the kosher stuff. It got me thinking about the different types of Jewish Salt there could be, kind of like heimishe cholent vs. regular old modern orthodox, salt could also start being classified just like different Jews are.

Chassidishe Salt – our salt is only mined by chassidim, we are closed on shabbos and we only sell to people who wear streimels. Our salt is sometimes used to throw on women wearing red.

Yeshivishe Salt – yeshivish salt is mined only by yungerleit after third seder, this salt is never mined when during seder and there will be no bitul zman on this salts time.

Modern Orthodox Salt – This salt is only mined by people in white knitted yarmulkes who say hallel on yom haatzmaut.

Conservative Salt – This salt is mined by both men and women without a mechitza, we mine on shabbos with a microphone as well.

Carlebachian Salt – Salt is so overrated and bitter, just smoke some weed.

Lubavitch – The Rebbe used our salt.
