That’s why it’s not a good moshol. The boys go in the freezer before they go on the market, and bread goes in the freezer after it’s on the market.

Torah613Torah, let me offer my version of your analogy.

Say a hundred people walk into a bakery, each to buy a loaf of bread, but find only ninety loaves on the shelf. Will they panic?

Well, that depends. If the baker is still there, has ample supplies, and will profit enough to make it worth his while to bake an additional ten loaves (and the customers know this) then they will not panic.

If they have seen in the past that he won’t bake any more than his allotment, or don’t know, they might panic.

Obviously, the people panicking are not confident that His plan is to have a shidduch for everyone.

That some people have trouble with this idea is the problem.

No, the resulting mismatched numbers, leaving many girls without shidduchim, l”a, is the problem.

Secondly, the freezer only applies to a subset of boys, not all yeshivos.

A large majority. Far from your claim of “one at a time”. And all bochurim have set zemanim. Don’t respond that there’s individual choice, because that’s the same for girls, as SaysMe says.

Thirdly, in this analogy, we’re talking about a hypothetical perfect Baker, Who runs the “bakery” that feeds the world.

You’re using circular reasoning. You’re saying that your analogy must be correct because the argument it supports is correct.

Of course He’s perfect, the question is which challenges He’s given us.

    What do you think?

There are so many fallacies in this analogy, I hardly know where to begin.

Let’s start with one factual mistake. One word: freezer.

You are making the assumption that the rebbeim and yungerleit’s kids are going to cost you money. That depends on many factors, though. Often, the additional tuition (if you would give a partial scholarship) covers whatever costs are incurred above your school’s fixed expenses.

Also, the types of kids who often come from klei kodesh families are valued for non-financial reasons (I know of situations where there were more than one yeshivah in town, and newly arrived families were offered free tuition).

    1) It’s cheaper this way because the extra “salary” is only paid to blazed rebbeim with kids. Your way, it’s higher salaries across the board.

    2) Mah nafshach, if you value kollel, you’re happy that the adkanim opened a kollel and will help. If you don’t value kollel (ch’v), you won’t subsidize any kollel learners.

    Is this it?

    Ingredients:

    Moosewood Cookbook Tomato Sauce:

    2 tbsp Antica Olive Oil

    1 serving Yellow Onion Large

    2 tsp Basil, Dried

    1 tsp Oregano, Dried

    1 tsp Thyme, Dried

    1 tsp Salt*

    28 oz Hunt’s Crushed Tomatoes

    6 oz Tomatoes Paste

    6 clove Garlic Clove

    1 serving Parsley

    1 tbsp Honey

    1/4 tsp Black Pepper

    2 lb Eggplant (raw)

    3/4 cup Milk, 1% Lowfat

    2 cups Toasted Bread Crumbs

    1 tsp Basil, Dried

    1/2 tsp Oregano, Dried

    1/2 tsp Thyme, Dried

    1 tsp Canola/olive Oil

    16 oz Mozzarella Cheese

    2 oz Parmesan Reggiano

    Directions

Moosewood Cookbook Tomato Sauce: Saute the onions over medium-low heat until soft, 8-10 minutes. Stir in the basil, oregano, thyme, and salt and continue to saute another minute. Add the canned crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, honey, and pepper (more or less to taste); stir together. Partially cover and simmer over low heat about 20 minutes while chopping/dicing the garlic. Add the garlic and simmer another ten minutes while chopping the parsley. Add the parsley at the last minute.

Shred the mozzarella and reggiano cheeses. Heat the oven to 375 F. Wash and slice the eggplant (two medium) horizontally. In a shallow dish, mix the crumbs with the basil, oregano, and thyme. Using the olive oil, oil a cookie sheet and a 9×13 pan (use your fingers to spread it around; you don’t need much oil at all). Dip the eggplant slices in the milk to coat both sides, then into the crumbs to coat both sides, and lay them on the cookie sheet (and 9×13 if you need the space). Bake them about 25 minutes. Pile any slices from the 9×13 pan onto the cookie sheet temporarily, and cover the bottom with a layer of sauce. Add a layer of eggplant, a layer of cheese, a layer of sauce, a layer of eggplant, a layer of cheese, and a layer of sauce. Sprinkle the parmesan/reggiano over the top and bake about 40 minutes.

    Prep Time: 20 minutes

    Cooking Time: 40 minutes

    Serves: 8

    Yield 8 servings

DY- The OP was trying to make a point that the shhhs are more disruptive

Yes, and the responses that the cell phone holder has no excuse, should be fined, etc. were not to the point.

I agree with WIY, and I fail to see why we can’t be dan l’kaf z’chus that he forgot to shut the ringer.

I have a feeling that Chaza”l would not speak as harshly about someone who made an inadvertant, momentary disruption to the davening, as they do about someone who publicly shames another person.

You’re not being very specific. In what way do people say, in a religious context, that things are worse than ever?

Your indicate that it’s at least partially a financial issue; I can’t imagine that in a religious context, you’ve often heard that we’re worse off financially tan ever, so I’m not sure what you mean.

DaMoshe, R’ Porush’s comments were directed at the government, which has no right to suddenly turn into a bunch of big tzaddikim with bitachon that children won’t starve because Hashem will help them.

I’m sure R’ Porush is well aware that government money is sent from Hashem, just as you are aware that your salary comes from Him.

Whether or not such discussions constitute L”H is a good question. There certainly can be toeles in the discussion; someone like you whohad no idea that there were possible issues might very well go ahead and ask their rov, but I don’t know if this justifies posting such information online.

Your grievances in this regard might best be addressed to moderation to whom it’s indeed hearsay, not to a poster who might very well have received first hand information.
