just came back. so curious how many were actually there. it was so cool to see so many Jews of yerushalayim migrating towards that area to say tehillim and daven together. it was really nice and inspirational!

Sun Inside Rain is INCREDIBLE!I Love the original plot. We don’t find that many female rock stars in jewish lit. I wish she’d write a sequal about Joeys road to Judaism. I was so confused at that part!

    Doesn’t he look Jewish?

Personally I would never ever sleep in contacts…. it is just not worth the risk of developing a bad infection. The blind story sounds a little exaggerated but I do know for a fact someone who overslept in them and ended up in the hospital because of a bad infection. Just take the extra time to take them out- it is worth it.

From my experience you can never tell someone, “Don’t EVER do ……..”. cuz you know what? We are all so different and especially in this area of shidduchim does this show even more. What works for one, may not work for the other. I sincerely think that in shidduchim you must be yourself, let your guard down, and think for yourself- don’t listen to others how you must think, feel, do, not do etc.

If you hate lounges don’t go to a lounge! If you feel like the date should go more for 40 minutes and having a great time go ahead! This is your life and no one elses. you need to do what works for YOU.

hmmm, worry just about yourself? While that sounds nice and ideal- whatever happens out there affects you that is just how the world runs.

I think I will be quiet for now about comparing yidden to Taliban but woa did that take me aback.

Tznius is the most beautiful, pro-female concept. as with anything- tznius can be taken too an extreme. we learn that from the word midda- everything is in measurement. there are times in a woman’s life where she gets no schar for being tznius because in fact it is inappropriate. Our females are not for sale and not for the general publics eye- that is what this advertisement wanted to portray. Was it taken ‘too far’? What every individual must do is take their own middle path. Someone else’s middle path may be too machmir for you but for them it is middle of the road.

What I heard once is that the jewish star is made out of 2 Delta’s from the two “daleds” in David.

I think that Carlebach said the first pshat in the original post actually. or maybe he was quoting it.

Sometimes things are wrong even if it is not explicitly written in halacha, the spirit of the law, people call it.

I’m not a halachic expert so I have no idea which halacha it is but at the end of the day, the whole thing is fishy.

    To sam2;

and appropriate is being on TV???? To me that does not follow what constitutes Jewish, separate music.

you know how it goes, first they embrace us and then it’s a knife in the back. I know i just made a little ybc show on tv extremely melodramatic but this is how it starts.

As I’ve said before on CR I love candlelight, and do think it is a kiddush Hashem to have the world view us in a better light. what I don’t like is all of these music videos competing to get viral and be and tv etc.. don’t get me wrong- I love all of them, and have seen all of them and like ’em all just like the next guy, it’s just principle of the matter.

    In response to tzaddiq:

obviously I am not regarding (the old, I might add) matisyahu as someone to emulate. what i meant as a role model is seeing someone embrace his judaism and be proud of it. that’s inspiring to me. look at it as someone who was in the business ALREADY and then adding the frumkeit, not that he was frum and then subsequently entered that society, do you hear the difference?

well, now it has been proven that it does not go together so…

also- i don’t understand, is he frum or not? is he shomer shabbos? i’d like to think yes, and if his tweets are true, than Thank G-d

    REALLY???

you should have seen me when I heard the news…. I cried.

I cried because Matisyahu has been such a role model to thousands of kids (including me), and made thousands so proud to be Jews. I don’t think that it’s right to go on MTV and such, but he was making a statement loud and clear- I am Jewish, I am proud of it.

    and now—??

That’s why I cried. I feel so hurt, so stabbed in the back that he did this to himself and to us. I am confused about his going to the mikveh and davening cuz yesterday he wrote clearly, no more chassidish reggae superstar and basically denounced his religiosity. Still this really makes me happy. Matisyahu- i understand you are going thru hard times, and it’s a hurculean effort to maintain chassidish standards amidst superstardom fame, so yasher koach for what you have done thus far- but understand sheva yipol tzadik v’kam and please do get up because I can’t bare listening to your music now that i once cherished.

you know how sad that is??

    i highly recommend k-9

    It’s free!!

you can set a time limit- for example mine limits my internet time until 1:30 am

you can allow specifically which sites you want or not

MAKE SURE TO GIVE YOUR PASSWORD TO SOMEONE ELSE!!!!!!!!! can’t tell you how important this is. give your password to a close neighbor/spouse/older sibling/roomate that you trust

tizku limitzvos, this is a huge step in your growth, and one of the most important things you can be doing for yourself.

teehee, I LOVE it!!! Book of good life was my favorite song and video so far, but still this chanukah one is great. I think that personally it does more good than harm. I agree with all these posters from last year that it is a really nice portayol of Jews. I agree totally that yidden are getting such bad attention with either being “ultra-orthodox” (whatever that means) or as scheming swindlers rachmana litzlan! hopefully the world can see finally that we are “normal” (still, we are the am segulah) people, who happen to have some members that unfortunately misrepresent us (I’m not saying that ultra orthodox misrepresent us, but in the news they are not portrayed in the kindest light), and have good, wholesome, nice young guys who can sing beautifully and make awesome videos.

you don’t have to agree with me, because I already am anticipating some comments already- but let’s all hope that for everyones sake they continue making more fun and kosher entertainment!!!

    – while we’re at it- come on maccabeats- give us an original song finally!!!

Me’ohr is looking for girls that are tznius, whos skirts cover their knees, are not interested in bringing Iphones and blackberries to inhibit their year of growh. Me’ohr might finally be instituting a dress code. I think that R’ G will be looking for a different crowd as you say, less jappy.

Don’t NOT apply just based on girls this year, because then all the “good” girls won’t apply and then this cycle will just repeat itself.

plus i happen to know of some awesome girls applying, and really i mean awesome. it would be such a shame to lose out on them!!! hatzlacha raba with applying and everything, i know it can get pretty stressful

It is such a shame we have come to this point. Yes- it really makes me sad because this is such an indication of the infiltration of the “outside” world. just like it is getting scarier and weirder out there, and the news every day makes me scared to step outside sometimes,i guess CR has to follow in it’s own way- you know what i mean. it’s a chaval, and probably inevitable.

maybe as a kabala, all of us CR posters should try to keep our postings truthful to defy all outside influences to keep it the awesome, informative and SAFE place to be!

    So funny you posted this…

It seems that jockey full of borboun is just random stuff put together, but for some reason the chorus “hey little bird fly away home” is very metaphorical and meaningful, so yes i understand your confusion. moshav is covering this song that’s originally by Tom Waits and actually the stuff im googling now is interesting. like, ‘dutch pink’ in the first chorus means blood…. google the rest cuz it’s cool.

now about moshav- i always believe that if you feel like it is inappropriate, then that means it was just not created for you. I believe very much in listening to purely kosher music and it is hard many times. moshav is a great bridge for that with clean lyrics some really beautiful tunes (think; beraishit, eulogy, heart is open to name a few) and awesome songs. many have nice meanings, some just are fun (feet are made for dancing!) there concerts rock!

thanks for the inspiring female story of heroism. actually i realized later that they were defining exactly Hero and Heroine is technically female.

another story of heroism is Rachel (totally forgot her last name)from Switzerland during the Holocaust who also saved hundreds if not thousands. she was a hero, or should i say Heroine.

may i quote brian regan: “He’s a hero, who don’t even say he’s a hero, what a HERO!” he was referring of course to Captain Sullenberger who flew that plane a few years ago into the Hudson. remember? how could you forget! this is the “googled” def of a hero:

A person, typically a man, who is admired for courage or noble qualities.

The chief male (nuuuu, why not female??) character in a book, play, or movie, who is typically identified with good qualities.

yeah, but you know what? If you can be the best mother, daughter, husband, friend, or eved hashem you can be, you are a hero. every time you hold back that nasty retort, you have done something heroic. What about that bit of lashon hara you held back from saying?

Heroism needn’t be something well publicized. every day, in your life do something HEROIC!
