These topics in the mailbag columns are intended to increase readership. More readers leads to higher ad rates which is more money in the pocket of YwN. Therefore, you will find stupid silly topics in these mailbag columns, yet they generate enough controversy to get people to read it.
It took me a while to reach this conclusion. These”mailbag” columns are not authentic and are written perhaps by the moderators of YWN in order to generate excitement and controversy that raises the readership audience. Who does not want to read about controversies. I havecome to this conclusion because several ofthese “mailbag” columns are simply stupid.
There is no Ruchniyus in America. Yiddishkeit is being observed according to one’s materialistic standards. We don’t conform to Yiddishkeit. We make Yiddishkeit conform to us.
Let us do away with this hateful talk and respond to the initial question. I am also very interested in purchasing a Sefer or similar resource that sets forth the minhagim of Oberlander Yidden. I am descended from Oberlander family and over the years I have forgotten many of the minhagim my grandfather kept. What is the best resource available? Thank you.
