September 6, 2018 1:29 am at 1:29 am in reply to: Why are Children from divorced homes treated as second class citizens? #1588079yitzchokmParticipant
Syag Lchochma,
Ok
Have it your way.Let’s take away the stigma of divorce, it should never have been stigmatized to begin with. Every morning couples must decide if they want to remain married or get divorced. Do whatever is easier, depending on what’s for breakfast.
Of course, a psychologist or mental counselor will help decide. Or even a trusted friend. As long as everyone’s happy, because that’s the goal in life. Being happy. Children must never see their parents argue because that’s terrible for their psychological growth. They must always look at their childhood as a Rosy Fantasyland where no stress exists. Everyone lives in harmony and lives in perfect sync with each other. Bickering is cause for divorce. Divorce must always be a choice.
Also, let’s do away with “cookie cutter” school systems because it is the reason that so many students are OTD. Last I heard most of our yeshiva graduates are OTD.
instead, starting this year, we hire an experienced teacher for each individual child to make sure he gets the proper cuddling and warmth needed for him to remain an orthodox Jew. Funding for this new project will begin momentarily.

So, because I disagree with your definition of when divorce should be acceptable, I “have no shame”. Interesting. Or, perhaps you’re wrong? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Divorce should be stigmatized because it’s a terrible option. Most divorced families are not due to infidelity or physical abuse. As long as both spouses are marriageable material, they should remain married.
Yes, of course there are cases where divorce is the only option. But it shouldn’t be celebrated. It’s a terrible, terrible outcome.
It should be as stigmatized as abortion. Athough abortion is sometimes necessary to save the life of the Mother, IT SHOULD NOT BE CELEBRATED

Did you ever stop to think that the cookie cutter schools pushed 98% of the people to stay on the derech? Overall we’re a resounding success.

July 27, 2018 2:45 am at 2:45 am in reply to: Should teachers/rebbis get a full time salary? #1565949yitzchokmParticipantCuriosity,
In short, you’re woefully uninformed about the specifics of the job. It’s not a part-time job. And even if it was, in order for a teacher to be committed to a teaching job, he has to be paid a living wage. Otherwise he’ll find work elsewhere and you’ll be without a teacher. So even if you don’t believe the fact that teachers do work full-time, you’ll still have to pay them a living wage in order for them to actually be there to teach.
We’re not over paying them. It’s disturbing you think we are.
Regards to you being a parent in order for you to understand the job, it’s not that we don’t respect your opinion. It’s just that you’re misinformed about the aspects of the job that doesn’t occur at the school setting. Most parents end up speaking to their child’s teacher after school numerous times throughout the year. And if there is any type of problem or issue that has to be discussed on a more personal level, parents are sometimes in contact with their teachers numerous times a week.
Multiply that by 25 children per class, and many teachers teach multiple classes a day. It’s not a pretty picture.
It’s possible that the teachers in your life complained for no reason. It’s possible. But they’re definitely not overpaid.

July 26, 2018 3:10 pm at 3:10 pm in reply to: Should teachers/rebbis get a full time salary? #1565562yitzchokmParticipantAll I can say is, those bashing teachers and rebbe’s have absolutely no idea what the job entails. It’s not a part-time job by any stretch of the imagination.
I was a yeshiva teacher for over a decade. I don’t envy the rebbes. It’s a tremendous amount of work with little money, no job security and no respect.
Most people working for companies get to start their day at 9 and end it at 5, come hell or high water they’re gone.
Teachers need to prepare for their class every night. They have to mark tests, speak to parents, therapists and school administration after school hours. This happens on a daily bases.

Springfield?One yeshiva each?
What will these stone-throwers say when they can’t get their kids into these schools either? How terribly unwelcome these communities are as well?yitzchokmParticipantAlthough I have to give them the benefit of the doubt, what irkes me even more is that you’re actually harming yourself if you leave your car double-parked illegally. The double parking is just a courtesy that the NYPD allows in certain neighborhoods. They can easily change their mind and they’d be in their full rights to do so.
So besides for being irresponsible, they’re also harming themselves.

It’s actually not even a misdemeanor jurisdictions. It’s usually just a violation. You’re right. If there was no crime done, it’s illegal to impound.

This is El Al’s official response on the matter:
“The details that were reported about the incident were not accurate, to put it mildly. In actual fact, the delay was totally unconnected to the incident. The plane’s journey to the runway at the airport in New York took about one hour and had nothing to do with the incident. Taking care of the two passengers who refused to sit in their allocated places occurred after the plane had already left the gate and only took a few moments. We will continue to do our best to transport our customers safely, comfortably, and according to schedule.”

Yes, the yard can accommodate a car. It’s still a front yard, and it’s still legal.yitzchokmParticipantubiquitin,
You’re right about the second point, you’re wrong about the first. As iacisrmma points out, his neighbor got a permit to create a curbcut driveway the leads to his front yard, no garage or alley needed. I know of many houses in Brooklyn that have that same legal setup.
yitzchokmParticipantzahavasdad
Dina D’Malchus Dina doesn’t extend to every violation. It only extends to violations usually enforced by local law enforcement. (I heard this from R. Reuven in the name of his father)On some blocks it’s customary to park on the sidewalk. Even though it violates a law, it’s not a problem of Dina since the local PD looks away
yitzchokmParticipantMeno,
That rule means that if there’s nowhere for the car to park in the driveway or curbcut due to a permanent obstacle, it’s no longer illegal to block it.A curbcut can lead to a front yard.
yitzchokmParticipantMeno,
I’m sorry you’re misinformed
