If the number of posts per page changes (or if posts are deleted) the post number stays the same but the page number does not. The links that you get when clicking on the # under a post includes the page number and post number. If the post is no longer on that particular page than the post number part of the link that takes you to the particular post within the page is useless.

In theory what Joseph is saying makes sense. When mods delete posts or when the number of posts per page change then the page that a particular post appears on might change. For instance, the previous post by me comes out on page 6 in regular view and on page 7 if I add in the deleted posts (only mods, key masters, and charming princes such as Joseph can see these). If I were to delete a whole bunch of posts before it or change the number of posts then the page that the post appears on might change and the link will no longer be valid.

Edit: After deleting about 25 posts, the page 6 link no longer works.

I believe the source of “before the mountain top opens wide to swallow you inside” is from the haftorah of the first day of Sukkos, (Zecharia 14)

It still sounds to me like “lashen stone”, but I am pretty sure it is “ashen”. I always read the lyrics when I get a new CD to get the words down.

I don’t like when the music is too loud that you can’t hear the words. I also don’t like when the singers don’t pronounce the words. I usually enjoy songs more for the words than for the music. That is why I like Abie Rotenberg especially the Journeys CDs. Abie always pronounces every letter. I think that the Shema song being discussed in this thread was written by Abie and sung by Shwekey.

We are constantly trying to make the coffee room a better place. Finding old threads has always been somewhat of a challenge for some people. I have re-opened this topic so that we can discuss topics. If anyone has ideas for topics we can add/edit/remove, or if you think that a particular thread should be moved to a particular topic, please post here or email a mod.

oomis, test it out in the laboratory thread. Just copy my post from above. It’s pretty simple, the text has to be surrounded by “tags” which are the things that start with”<” and end with “>”. For italics, put “em” inside, for quote, put “blockquote”, for bold, put “strong”. To make things blue use “a”. The “closing tag” at the end of the text should be the same thing except that there is a “/” added before the word so </em> instead of <em>

    27 Tammuz:

    * Pope Innocent III promulgated a Church doctrine that the Jews were doomed to perpetual servitude and subjugation because they had killed Jesus, 1205. (The charge of deicide against the Jews was not officially removed from Church doctrine until 1963. There are still many Christians who believe in the guilt of the Jews, and many who act upon that belief.)

    * The third expulsion of the Jews of France, 1322. (One wonders why they kept coming back.)

    * A Jew and the Russian naval officer who converted to Judaism, having been influenced and/or taught by that Jew, were both burned at the stake in St. Petersburg, 1738.

    * Jews of Holstein, Germany were granted equality, 1893.

I don’t think that those videos are the entire original version. The originals were 45 minutes long. These seem to be a bit shorter. I don’t have time to watch the whole thing but I do notice some things that are skipped. The songs are a bit shorter than the originals also.

ICOT, the Shalom song (which I posted above) is great. All the MMM songs are great. The Sinas Chinam song is also a beautiful song.

I don’t think that “Don’t walk in front of me” is from MMM. It is probably from Uncle Moishy: Don’t walk in front of me I may not follow, don’t walk behind me, I may not lead. Just walk besides me and be my friend and together we will walk in the ways of Hashem. V’ahaVta l’reiacha kamocha zeh klal gadol baTorah…

What a terrible thing, what a terrible sight

When people just argue, and bicker and fight

They cry and they kvetch, they holler and shout

That just isn’t what the Toirah’s about

Shalom is peace, and Shalom’s the way

A roideif shalom seeks peace everyday

He always is quick to forget and forgive

And that’s how Hashem wants us to live.

So try to be smart and try to be wise

There’s always a way you can compromise.

You won’t have to lose, and you won’t have to win

With Shalom your problems will never begin.

Shalom is peace and Shalom’s the way

A roideif Shalom seeks peace everyday

He always is quick to forget and forgive

And that’s how Hashem wants us to live…
