HATE IN FLATBUSH: Jewish Man Assaulted While Walking To Shul

Another day, another hate crime.

This one happened in Flatbush.

Councilman Chaim Deutsch tells YWN that he spoke to the victim who was walking to Shul in the area on Ocean Parkway and Quentin Road on Monday morning, when a man approached him and began using anti-Semitic slurs at him.

The attacker then made specific threats to the victim, and then attempted to repeatedly punch the man in the face.

Thankfully, the victim was not injured.

The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident.

Just yesterday YWN reported about a group of 7 thugs that attacked two Hasidic men in Williamsburg on Shabbos.

YWN urges our readers to read what we previously published as an op-ed:

Haven’t we all heard that 100 times before? “Hate Crimes task Force investigating the incident”? Does anyone think the community actually takes these declarations seriously anymore?

We have witnessed multiple press conferences and statements -‎ one after the next  with serious looking elected officials standing next to a few Jewish community leaders, all looking tough for the cameras, hoping to be interviewed and quoted by the media.

Clearly, these conferences and statements mean nothing other than photo-ops and sound bites for elected officials looking to shore up their anti hatred credentials with the Jewish community. We are tired of the same cycle- attack, shock, press conference, rinse & repeat.

Where are the new updated anti-hatred policies by the Mayor and Governor to counter these attacks? Where is the overwhelming sustained police presence? The depraved attackers aren’t on twitter or impacted by the worthless condemnations & press conferences.

Perhaps it is time for the Federal Government to send in the FBI and  bypass the NYPD and start making arrests themselves. Federal hate crime penalties  are far more serious than the revolving door of the Brooklyn court system. ‎Speaking of local officials where is State Attorney General Letitia James who was strongly supported by the Jewish community of Brooklyn? The dereliction of duty of our elected officials has put us in a very dangerous place. We have had enough promises and vows. Action is needed now.

To add insult to injury, though the National media and the Democratic party would have you believe that it’s white supremacists and Trump supporters solely responsible for rising hate crimes across the United States, nothing could be further from the truth in NYC.

If you need more fuel to prove the pack of lies being spoon-fed to the masses, these same grandstanding officials tell us it’s those “angry Trump supporters who are committing these crimes” when in fact, nearly NONE of the hate crimes against Jews in NYC were the result of a Trump supporter, not unless Trump suddenly has support among 18-year-old minority and illegal thugs living in Brooklyn.

  1. The vast majority of anti-Semitic hate crimes in the United States originates with “minority” thugs living in Deep Blue Democrat controlled states and cities. The far right plays only a very small role and percentage.

Similarly, in Europe the vast majority of anti-Semitic hate crimes originate from Muslims; the far right only plays a tiny role.

  2. This article rightly attacks the do-nothing politicians who only react by having photo-ops with Jewish community leaders and pretending they care. What seems to be glossed over is the “Jewish leaders” who are constantly kissing up to these elected officials, campaigning or endorsing them for elected office, and befriending them at all sorts of events. But in reality, they have made their other matters of advocacy (yes, valuable ones, but not at the pikuach nefesh level) priority. Some of them help funnel government money to yeshivos, etc. But these matters of safety are sent to the back burner, covered over with platitudes and promises, but ultimately ignored. As long as our “Jewish leaders” fail to make these matters of safety a priority, we will never accomplish much. Barring disagreements with any of them, such askanim tend to get much community recognition, but seem to have little progress on major issues to report. Let’s not overlook this aspect.

  3. It’s time to organize a new group and not rely on Shomrim or Shmirah to patrol the streets. They have their hands tied just like the police. We need a group that can street fight in order to protect our streets. I know we are in Golis but we must make real hishtadlis to protect ourselves if the police are not capable of doing so.

  4. There are options for more effective and forceful local community policing and self-defense without all the ADL baggage. We don’t need a bunch of vigilantes in black jackets and and kipahs going around “enforcing” their notion of “self-defense”
