Channel 2 News on Wednesday, 27 Menachem Av reported that the investigation into alleged criminal activity by former IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi is going to be closed in the near future.
Since retiring from the IDF Ashkenazi has been a sought after personality by various political parties including Labor. Speaking with Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) on Thursday morning, Stern said “I hope he will come to Yesh Atid since he is centrist”. He added that the two have been in contact and Stern has in the past mentioned to Ashkenazi that he should join Yesh Atid. Stern added that Ashkenazi was targeted by certain people, leading to the probe against him.
Channel 2 reported that in a number of weeks, Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein will announced the closure of the case against the former IDF chief, a decision that is contrary to the recommendation of Israel Police investigators.
