Olmert Makes Unscheduled Stop in Jordan

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Wednesday made an unscheduled stop in Jordan, meeting with King Abdullah II.

According to official reports, the prime minister and the king met in Amman for two hours, discussing economic policies and Jordan’s assistance to the residents of Hamas-controlled Gaza.

The ongoing process between Israel and the Palestinian Authority was also discussed, seeking ways to advance the process towards arriving at an agreement.

The Jordanian press quoted the king as calling on Mr. Olmert to strive towards signing an agreement with PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) by the end of 2008, adding such an agreement must include a two-state solution, the establishment of a Palestinian state.
