R’ Porush Angered at UN Leader’s Arrival on Shabbos

Deputy Minister (Yahadut HaTorah) R’ Meir Porush sent a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman condemning the arrival on shabbos of UN Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon, explaining the arrival of the senior official undoubtedly required much chilul shabbos on the part of security personnel.

R’ Porush points out that in addition to exhibiting a lack of sensitivity to a large community in Israel, the move paints Israel in a bad light among nations who realize who we lack any respect towards safeguarding our national values.

  1. If Rav Porush were to send a respectful letter to Mr. Moon explaining the situation, that would probably have more effect. Netanyahu did his bit for the Haredim this week by agreeing not to build on kevorim in Ashkelon.

  2. If the secularists would admit to the Torah they would easily offset the nonsense claim of the arabs about us taking their land. All they have to do is show them in the Tanach that David Hamelech purchased the har habayit from Aravnah.
