What would happen if there would be no news for a day? Would the newspapers skip printing that day and the all news stations play music?

They would start reporting what isn’t really news. (“Man in Brooklyn Gets Paper Cut”, “Weed Grows From Crack in Sidewalk”, “Chicago Baby Cuts First Tooth”)

This is not hypothetical. It happens all the time, just that they’re professionals, so they find things more interesting than those to report.

As long as there are celebrities and politicians there will always be some scandal. Celebrities for the gutter press and politicians for the broadsheets.

It would all start to look like the human interest section of The Onion.

I actually remember the morning of something quite major that the reporter stated it seemed to be a no-news day, and just half-hour later that all changed.

But it’s not every celebrity, every politician, all the time. What if they all take the same day off?

    Nothing Happens On Earth:

For the first time in, well, forever, nothing newsworthy has occured today. We interviewed reporters <insert name here> and <insert name here> to find out more about this strange phenomenon.

So, <first of the insert name heres>, what do you think is going on?

“Well, this is new, so even I’m kind of confused…”

Do you think this will happen again?

“We just have to wait and see, but my guess is no. This is a pure coincidence, and coincidences rarely happen twice.”

    What does…(news report continues.)

There’s always something interesting about the weather somewhere, someone running for election sometime somewhere, still no peace in Israel (probably until Moshiach’s arrival) and of course what Rebyid wrote as it applies to some politician or royal somebody’s child/grandchild.

Imagine the headline not too far off “Prince Willam and Kate’s baby (sorry forgot name) cuts first tooth!” Remember, you saw it here first.

Seriously though I think news outlets have backup stories lined up for those dry news cycles.

On April 18th, 1930, the BBC famously informed listeners: “Good evening. Today is Good Friday. There is no news.”

    Did you know?

    The following is from daysoftheyear.com:

    Date:

    11th Sepeach year

Turn off the TV and radio, unhook from the web, and cancel the newspapers. If the weather really matters to you, look out of the window, and, be honest, when was the last time a traffic report actually turned out to be useful?

As far as I can determine, No News Is Good News Day was set for September 11th long before 2001.

    “Nothing Happens On Earth…

    For the first time…”

So that IS the news. That there’s NO news.

So then it’s NOT news. So then it IS news. So then it’s NOT news…….

This statement is false. If this question were a statement, what would its truth value be?
