I DID IT!!! I actually did it!

After staying up the entire night, Achron Shel Pesach (washing dishes, silverware, glasses, reading, setting the table…) I went to Shul and…

    DRANK A CUP OF COFFEE!!!

(Side note: it was mostly water milk and sugar but it had some coffee!)

It was okay. Didn’t help me stay up better. But it wasn’t horrible. I don’t know why I did it but…

I work for a school. There was a boy who was over weight and one day he stopped eating. He started losing a lot of weight, using the bathroom very infrequently, and his skin started turning pale. Boruch Hashem, we have a loving, caring staff who realized something was wrong and did something about it. We worked with the student, his therapist, counslers, doctors, parents ect. and got him out of his disorder. Now, this boy is in good shape, eats healthy and is doing well in school!

I dont think turning your phone off is a good idea. Almost everyone agrees that a cellphone should be taken on a date IN CASE OF EMERGANCY. Most cellphones take time to turn on. C”V, if something happens, your phone should be ready in a second, not in a minute. SILENT (or vibrate) ONLY!

May everyone be safe, and find their right one soon!

All I can remember about my glasses was that they constantly broke. All the time.

Also, my glasses were very thick and I wanted to get contacts. However my mother had trouble (like screaming, fighting ect.) with me and contacts when I was very young. Finally, I went on “glasses-strike”. I stopped wearing my glasses. For a year. Seeing that she had no choice, my mother took me to the doctor, and got me CONTACT LENSES!!!!

The first time I put the lenses into my eyes, it was amazing!! I was able to see clearly! I was able to read!! It was a whole new world!!!!

The doctor and interns taught how to put in and take out my lenses, and now I’m enjoying them!

80, its very interesting that you your question was on the song Shema, because as soon as I saw the title of the thread I thought of Shema.

I hear it all the time, many kids (and some adults too, of course) sing the high part like this: …when you feel pain, when you rejoice, NOONE WANTS TO HEAR YOUR VOICE…

    Anyone else ever hear that?

ames, why do you want to wear only one lens?

Sometimes, if you wear only one lens your other eye will stop functioning the correct way because it is depending on the eye with the lens.

“It is extremely unlikely, if not impossible, for soft lenses to get “lost in your eye”. This is one of those “scare your friends” stories that everyone hears but have no basis.”

squeak: I didn’t start talking about lenses getting “lost in your eye” to scare anyone. I did it to find out if anyone knows about it and how to stop it. This is not a made-up story. It happens to me many times. Here is what I said the first time I mentioned this “Anybody know why sometimes my contact lens disappears in my eye?”. “Anybody know…” is not a method of scaring, but of asking advice.

    Your eyes need oxygen.

When a person wears lenses, oxygen doesn’t get to the eye so good.

When you sleep, oxygen doesn’t get to the eye so good.

When you sleep with your lenses, you are not allowing enough oxygen to get to your eyes.

Anybody know why sometimes my contact lens disappears in my eye? I am not sure were exactly it goes or how to get it back in its correct place.

CAUTION: When going to the mikva or swimming your lens may fall out or go into hiding (like I described above). You may want to take your lens out before going into a big body of water

Guys, I love the smell of coffee, especially hazelnut, french vanilla… however, I DON’T like coffee. I don’t like ‘burnt’ stuff!!

Its interesting that I don’t drink coffee, but when I make someone a cup, they say that it tastes excellent. I have no idea how it should taste and I never put in the exact amount of coffee. I put in a bit of coffee (enough to fill half of the bottom of the cup) fill it with hot water, 1 or 2 sugars (packets) (depending on what they like [sometimes 3, 4 or 5!!!] and add some milk. Did I do anything different then others? I doubt it! Enjoy your burnt drink!!!

Oh BTW, I was in 7-11 the other day when a guy came in, took a cup, filled it with ice cubes, put in a little iced coffee and filled the rest with milk. Exactly what was he paying for? Tge tiny amount of coffee? The milk? I don’t get it!

What solution do you use? Which type do you find to work the best to clean lenses?

WARNING: when cleaning your lens, dont rub it too hard. It can tear! Even a TINY tear in a lens can give you a ton of pain.

A couple of summers ago, I was working in an office. During the Three Weeks, my boss would say, “Turn on the tape, it sounds like a cemetery in here.” When someone turned on the music, I would turn to my coworker and say, “Now it REALLY sounds like a cemetery in here!!!”

going back to seatbelts, in a 15 passenger van, there are rows of seats with 3 people in a seat. I was sitting in the 3rd row, right outer seat. When the van landed, it was on its left side. That means that I was IN THE AIR. I still remember my seatbelt holding me up. There is no way that we could have got out of the van the way we did without our seatbelts.

Another thing that is very amazing is that when the van landed, the motor was still on. My father reached out and turned the motor off. My father was so weak that he couldnt even reach into his shirt pocket to take out his cell phone and call for help! Only with Hashem help was he able to reach out and turn off the motor!

Also you can try holding your eye open with your thumb (bottom) and index finger (on top) and with the lens on your index/middle finger of the other hand, simply place the lens on your eye. This morning I did it this way and put the lens on the left side (in my left eye), immediately, my eye started hurting and tearing. I took it out, washed it with solution and put it back in on the right side. Much better B”H! (I think the lens was on an eyelash)
