☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant
he seems to be saying the exact opposite of his speech
I disagree. I think the Lakewood bashers gleefully celebrated his speech as criticism of the whole Lakewood kollel community, but it was never meant that way.
Well said yichusdik.
It was well written, but completely wrong. Would it be okay to accept a donation from a non observant philanthropist who despite his own non observance believes in the value of a Torah education? I think so, and yet I don’t think that means regular yeshivos are obligated to accept kids from non observant homes.

☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNeither JUSTIFIES it taking not-frum-enough money from those it deems below its standards of holiness.
Why does accepting a donation require justification? Why do the standards for donors need to be the same asxfor students? Is it hypocrisy if I will buy potato chips in a store in which I wouldn’t buy meat?
Not all activities require the same standards, and that is not hypocrisy.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIt is not an option to send Jewish child to public school.
Has that actually happened in Lakewood? Or is it just that some kids haven’t gotten accepted into the “elite” yeshivos?
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantothers who refused to go to the schools that would accept their kids as a matter of pride.
I would say that’s also a form of elitism; wouldn’t you?

Certainly you would agree that a frum landlord would be unlikely to show the apartment on Shabbos.
I happen to like frum people. Certainly not every one is a mentch, and certainly there are some very nice people who aren’t frum. But all things being equal, I would prefer a frum landlord.

My in-laws lived in a two family house and the frum landlord would “accidentally” turn then their heat down erev Shabbos and then say he couldn’t raise the heat because it was Shabbos.
Right, because all non frum landlords are great, and all frum ones are reshaim. Yep. Every single one. How do I know? Because your in laws had a bad experience.

no idea what a court would do
Ask Dmitry Agarkov.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYichusdik, why is that a good test? Why can’t a mossad accept a donation from someone who wouldn’t meet their standards for acceptance?
Can a school turn down the child of a family which won’t keep their television/internet/tznius/shmiras Shabbos/kashrus standards? Can they nevertheless accept a donation from someone who doesn’t keep those standards?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWho’s that?

On demand? At any time of day or night, any day of the week? Doubtful. You have to allow him to show it, but you can block out certain times that are not good for you.

Hi. I spent a lot of time and energy shoveling back in your car, and searching for your video surveillance. Unfortunately, I was unable to locate your video camera, and was therefore unable to remove it. However, I assume I will see you undigging your car, and will use that opportunity to stand and watch and laugh so hard as to be worth your slashing my tires. To ensure I have sufficient time to see you undigging and enjoy, please note I have poured water over the snow pile. This is not a promise.
You think you were laughing hard? I put up the sign, but some other poor shmoe was the one who parked there!

Yes, I have a driveway. You can block it if you give me fair warning that you’re showing up. Did you block it? I dunno, was that your car? If it ended up getting vandalized, then you probably blocked my driveway without telling me you were coming.

Sure, if you define “the shidduch crisis” as not having many dates. According to that definition, chassidim have the worst shidduch crisis, since they have beshows.
