You were probably carrying it around for a few years.
January 26, 2016 4:25 am at 4:25 am in reply to: Peanuts, gluten, and irresponsible friends #1133537☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantJanuary 26, 2016 3:59 am at 3:59 am in reply to: Peanuts, gluten, and irresponsible friends #1133534☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYWN had an article about it. It lasted for months.
Years, actually. It’s still there! It even mentioned you several times!
January 26, 2016 3:09 am at 3:09 am in reply to: No, you don't own the parking spot you dug out for the next two weeks #1134001☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantVery kind of you.
January 26, 2016 2:26 am at 2:26 am in reply to: No, you don't own the parking spot you dug out for the next two weeks #1133997☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDid the guy die?
Cuz if not, he probably learned his lesson.
Was that a suggestion to Oomis?
January 26, 2016 1:43 am at 1:43 am in reply to: No, you don't own the parking spot you dug out for the next two weeks #1133994☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSnow in NY really stinks. Well, actually, NY really stinks.
NY stinks much worse when it snows, because they don’t pick up the garbage.
January 26, 2016 1:09 am at 1:09 am in reply to: No, you don't own the parking spot you dug out for the next two weeks #1133989☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSorry, Oomis, as frustrating as it is, the spot does not belong to you. You didn’t pay for the spot, you paid to get your car out.
Your driveway, OTOH, is yours, and you have a legitimate complaint against someone who blocks it.
Why don’t you just park in your driveway?
January 26, 2016 12:40 am at 12:40 am in reply to: No, you don't own the parking spot you dug out for the next two weeks #1133985☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWell, at least she agrees with you that you don’t own it for two weeks.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou take other posters’ posts too literally very often.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhy? Do you think it’s okay for you to maintain a double standard?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSo I accidentally left out a few words, thereby technically changing the meaning of the sentence. You knew what I meant.
To be fair, you do that very often.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI can’t answer that question, but I can point out that RebYidd23 usually makes sense, and if you don’t see that, the fault is with you.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe askan quoted in Ami Magazine.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantLeib Spitz, quoted in Ami Magazine:
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantGolfer, considering that the conversation was about the U.S., and that Joseph included Lakewood and Money, it’s hard to argue.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSO DO YOU THINK HE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN A BITE OUT OF THE CHILD AND HIS PARENTS?!
January 25, 2016 2:04 am at 2:04 am in reply to: No, you don't own the parking spot you dug out for the next two weeks #1133973☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNot for two weeks, though. Maybe two days.
January 25, 2016 1:48 am at 1:48 am in reply to: No, you don't own the parking spot you dug out for the next two weeks #1133969☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIs that on the books legally, or just understood?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantJanuary 24, 2016 10:49 pm at 10:49 pm in reply to: If you do not have s'micha, can you advertise yourself as "Rabbi"? #1134340☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantCTL: There are illegitimate s’michas too.
WS, a menahel doesn’t hire a rebbe merely based on a brief interview; he does more research than that.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI spent 2 hours digging out my car, and then it was the wrong car.
The trick is to clean off the licence plate first.
January 24, 2016 5:13 pm at 5:13 pm in reply to: If you do not have s'micha, can you advertise yourself as "Rabbi"? #1134335☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWritersoul, presumably, the menahel who hired a rebbe vouched for his appropriate level of scholarship for his position.
January 24, 2016 4:01 pm at 4:01 pm in reply to: Peanuts, gluten, and irresponsible friends #1133523☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantRebYidd is correct. Popa said he told his friend that his daughter is allergic, but he never actually said that she is allergic.
January 24, 2016 3:23 pm at 3:23 pm in reply to: If you do not have s'micha, can you advertise yourself as "Rabbi"? #1134330☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantUbiquitin, to be fair, she has not called for any women to be called Rabbi.
Also, although I agree with you to some extent about the title Morah, the title Rebbetzin is not used unless her husband is a Rabbi.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNo, it’s fine.
Saying Tehillim arouses Divine mercy, and the mishebeirach tefillah afterwards directs Hashem’s rachamim towards the choleh mentioned. Hashem’s mercy is endless, so nothing is “stolen”.
In fact, we always include all cholim (“b’soch sh’or cholei Yisroel”). There’s nothing wrong with specifying your father’s name.
May R’ Belsky and your father both have a complete and speedy recovery, b’soch sh’or cholei Yisroel.
January 24, 2016 12:49 pm at 12:49 pm in reply to: If you do not have s'micha, can you advertise yourself as "Rabbi"? #1134328☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYes, apushatayid, and when a woman is called Mrs., she needs to carry around her edei kiddushin with her.
January 24, 2016 5:31 am at 5:31 am in reply to: If you do not have s'micha, can you advertise yourself as "Rabbi"? #1134326☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIf someone is a rebbe, maggid shiur, menahel, etc., is that considered “earned” to you?
Also, how does that address your “fairness,” issue?
January 24, 2016 4:24 am at 4:24 am in reply to: World's oldest man dies, says key to long life was …. #1133627☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantStill?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAlso, seems it was on a lot more than three occasions…
http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/i-need-chizuk-1#post-554030
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI was once approached by 3 people-at 3 different occasions
Was it once, or on three different occasions?
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant1. Nor was I, but anyhow it’s not her last Shabbos home, it’s her last Shabbos in her parents’ home as a single. It’s no big deal if the last Shabbos as a single with her father there is a week earlier.
2. No, you’re not my mother, you’re my father-in-law (I don’t think anyone fell for the grandfather bit) and I still don’t forgive you for not being at my aufruf.
I’ll probably bump this thread every year until you apologize.
And Estie says she doesn’t know why you keep saying how important it was to be there for that last Shabbos. All you did was get drunk and embarrass yourself and her in front of her friends, and she wishes you’d have gone away.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIt was a year ago that I said you were wrong. It took me a year to formulate the precisely correct response.
January 24, 2016 1:58 am at 1:58 am in reply to: Peanuts, gluten, and irresponsible friends #1133513☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant#PeanutButterAnecdote
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHow’s the weather in Alaska? As bad as Lakewood?
January 24, 2016 1:13 am at 1:13 am in reply to: Peanuts, gluten, and irresponsible friends #1133510☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWe didn’t want the thread to be gluten free.
Who’s we? Is your daughter helping you write these posts?
January 24, 2016 1:05 am at 1:05 am in reply to: Peanuts, gluten, and irresponsible friends #1133506☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhy is gluten in the title?
January 24, 2016 1:02 am at 1:02 am in reply to: Peanuts, gluten, and irresponsible friends #1133505☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantUnless this is a joke.
What night of the week is this? (It’s been a while…)
January 24, 2016 12:35 am at 12:35 am in reply to: If you do not have s'micha, can you advertise yourself as "Rabbi"? #1134322☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWritersoul, so what do you want changed? That rebbeim/menahelin should be called Mister?
January 23, 2016 11:57 pm at 11:57 pm in reply to: Peanuts, gluten, and irresponsible friends #1133501☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantLC, I have no idea what popa’s driving at here, but that’s probably his point.
January 23, 2016 11:55 pm at 11:55 pm in reply to: Peanuts, gluten, and irresponsible friends #1133499☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSkippy or Jif?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThat wasn’t very nice of him to call mentally challenged people shallow.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhat did Mod-80 change the title to?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantJanuary 22, 2016 5:54 pm at 5:54 pm in reply to: The Geulah will do get rid of the concept of "daas torah" #1133215☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe Mikdash Melech quotes it from the Arizal:

January 22, 2016 3:09 pm at 3:09 pm in reply to: The Geulah will do get rid of the concept of "daas torah" #1133208☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSo we’re all in agreement that Rav Soloveichik didn’t possess da’as Torah.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIt’s been very cold lately.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHmmm…
January 21, 2016 8:32 pm at 8:32 pm in reply to: Will there be Sephardi Chareidim in the next generation?? #1133001☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI think the Teimanim would pronounce it “Thawith” (soft “th”).
January 21, 2016 8:20 pm at 8:20 pm in reply to: If you do not have s'micha, can you advertise yourself as "Rabbi"? #1134309☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSorry, if my kid’s first grade rebbe wants to be called Dr., I’m not doing it.
