    Daas Torah

is an invented term. It is not found in any mishna or gemara, not in the Rambam, no rishon or achron ever used the term. It was invented in the 1990’s after the death of Rav Moshe ZTL

when there was no one to lead klal yisroel a new idea called “daas toraH’ was made up

There are some Shomer Shabbos people who claim to have gone to the Mets World Series Game 6, Bill Buckner game, on Leil Simchas Torah. They walked to the game in the afternoon of Shmeni Etzeres, did not take any money or muktzah with them. Not sure what they did about the admission ticket, its probably like a shtar and should be muktzeh. Some people I know went to a TV store where the TV’s were on and watched the game. Baruch Hashem we have our priorities straight.

Very true. My parents once came to my house on Peasach got into a fight with my wife and left. Exactly like the gemara says: a man will not stand to have a fight with the daughter in law, but he could stand a fight with a son in law.

The Tzadik Rabbi Dov Lipman was there. What was the crowd reaction to him, mostly positive I suppose?

This is great, so the girls won’t be able to get a regents diploma, thereby diminishing their ability to get into a decent college thereby decreasing their ability to make enough money so their husbands can learn forever. Really great idea.

People in Monticello would go into Walmart at the beginning of July and buy an air conditioner, and since you can return stuff up to 60 days later would come back at end of August and get a full refund. The president of Walmart sent a letter to the Agudah about this and since then there is no more refunds at Walmart on A/C’s.

Imagine you could spend 5 minutes with the President and he would have your undivided attention and would listen to all your requests. Would you answer your cellphone Shmuz with your business friends find out all the baseball scores send text messages. Of course not so why is it acceptable in every shul in the world?

I once heard from an adam gadol ” A Rabbi that talks during davening is like a doctor who smokes”

There are some shuls were you have to sign a shtar that you won’t talk. The people that want to talk no they are not welcome and “daven” elsewhere. Recently in one of the big shuls in my neighborhood they had an election for president of the young marrieds minyan between one person who wanted decorum during davening and the incumbent who promised to allow all the schmoozing status quo…. the result incumbent 85% of the vote.. Mi Kaamch Yisrael.

For a nation of people that have no problem finding chumras for any little thing it amazes me how many people seem to find no problem with such an obvious Issur…

I was once in a very “choshuv” shul in Brooklyn and it was chol hamoed and for chazaras hashatz for both shacharis and mussaf 2 guys sat underneath a poster with the Tosfos Yom Tov Tefilla for not talking during davening and they just would not stop talking. I didn’t have my phone on me or I would have videoed it and put on youtube.

    edited for lashon hara

Move to Queens We have the lowest percentage of OTD/ Teens at risk per capita of any major Jewish neighborhood. Its because people are nice to each other, like say good morning, good Shabbos etc. there’s no pressure to outfrum anyone.

How about the Rabbi Sherer biography where they neglected to mention that his brother is a reform Rabbi, Harry Sherer? Artscroll is the Jewish equivalent of the New York Times, they have an agenda and just publish what is “politically correct”
