hebrewbooks.com must be downloaded. I have an external disk called Otzros Hatorah. The searching facility is wonderful for Bar Ilan but not so good for the others. Otzar Hachochma is very expensive. I bought the Otzros Hatorah paying in $10 monthly installments. The Bar Ilan is a copy of seforim and not the original, so each commentary is separate but it has references. Sefaria has english ttanslation might have hashkafic questions. There is DBS which is similar to Bar Ilan but has no teshuvas. The Bar Ilan plus includes the Encylopedia Talmudis.

If you see in the room that people need help, you have to check the room whether they are being helped. If not, you are mechuyav to stop learning and help them.

Be careful not to make it a circular reasoning. Hashem loves us even if we don’t keep his mitzvos like a father his son.

Even in learning, you must care to help others in their learning or your learning is not worth anything. Chanoch was taken away because he only cared for himself.

Shakepeare says that the world is a stage. we all of are actors and Hashem is the director, but this itakes away bechirah. Rather, a man is taken to a room with all beatiful paintings and tapestries. On tbe table is jewelry and other precious stones. He is told whatever he can collect in a day belongs to him but he gets mesmerized from its beauty that he forgets the table. At end of the day, he wants to collect the valuables but is too late. He is chased out of the room.

Start a tractate with enlightenment. Meseches Brachos starts with Meimosai in targum rather than mimosai in lashon hakadosh to indicate that Hashem rests with people learning the talmud as the malachim don’t care for targum or according to the chasidim who say to recite krias shema from fear.

This reminds me of a joke where a store keeper wanted to indicate he has kosher for pesach milk. Affer puting a sign out, people avoided his store. He wrote chalav kosher lapesach but wrote chalav with a chuf, kasher with a kuf and lapesach with a sof reading, kelev kasher lapesach, the dog is tied to the door.

Avi K, forcing on their sheva mitzvos will not work as Tosfas above explains that by a goy a good thought is not considered a mitzva. The Meharshah explains that by a goy thinking good will not necessarily lead to action but bad does whereas by a Jew the reverse is true.

Torah Sbaal Peh was given to us because of the willingness to accept Torah Shebeksav. The forcing is like the Rambam by a divorce, kofin asa ad sbeomer rotzei anui as explained by Tosfas.

The Dubner Magid has a mashel on this on the Haggada where the rasha asks mo haavoda hazos lochem, what is the pupose of your actions? So we weaken his teeth and we don”t explain but tell him not to do it. A man was poor having only enough money for yom tov. He sees a beatiful suit, forgetting that he has no money for it. When buying, he takes it home. As his wife sees it, she tells him to take it back. He tells the salesman to return his money as there is a fault in it. He gives him his money back. Why did you not exchange it, ask the people around the salesman. He answers them that the man is poor and he wants to reneg on the sale and this is just an excuse. Similarly, this is an excuse for the rasha and the goyim having charata on tne whole sale.

coffee addict, Hashem did not want to give the Torah Shebaal Peh to the goyim, so they could not accept the Torah Shebeksav. Offering it to them was a formality as to the chidren receiving the goldmine. But anyway, they questioned its content ahead of time, which the Jews never did, so Hashem told them exactly what they not like. According to this, tbe Jews were realy chosen for their trust in Hashem, like a son in his father that he will not give him something bad.

Should be above chosen. The Torah Shebeksav is the goldmine and the Torah Shebaal Peh is the act of goldmining.

The Chasam Sofer asks, if the goyim had a choice to accept the Torah, how are we the choisen people? The Ksav Sofer in Parashas Yisro brings from his father a mashel to a father who had a goldmine. He wants to give it to his youngest child, but he cannot just give it to him in order not to cause jealousy, so he teaches him the act of goldmining. He divides it equally but because the others do not know what to do with it, it automatically fell to the youngest child. We were given the Torah Shebaal Peh, Oral Law. so we were able to accept the Torah Shebeksav, Written Law.

The Rabbenu Bachaya in the begining of Parashas Ki Siso explains how counting directly the Jews can harm them by quoting the Zohar that one should not separate oneself from the group because if one is recognized and spotted. will be blamed. We should not separate the bad from the good. The Shunamis in the article said, besoch ami anochi yosheves, I am sitting among my naton. I don’t want to separate myself from the rest of my natiion.

Torah unifies Klal Yisrael with Hashem. This can be demonstrated where Hashem is in the center of a circle and tne bnei yisrael are on the circle. Through the Torah, there is magnatism pulling the circle to center, unifying the points on the circle and by making the circle smaller eventually coinciding with the center. This the meaning of the yisrael, vearaysa vekidsha beruch hu chad hu, all three are one.

They still have an argument. By Moshe Rabbenu it says vayikra whereas by Bilaam vayikar?
Therefore Moshe Rabbenu wrote the small aleph indicating that Bilaam could have been like him but his gaiva, haughtiness caused through his wicked behavior that the appearance of Hashem to him be beyond his control.

By a metzorah we take an cedar tree and an eizov. A cedar tree leads to gaiva, so he has to humble himself like an eizov. However, complete humility is not good either as it hinders him from doing mitzvos by saying, what is the use, so we need the cedar tree also. Whatever extreme character he has is a sheni tolaas, a read thread. The Rambam who says to go to the extreme of humility considers the fact that he has gaiva which will bring back to the middle.

There is a Midrash where a father takes a bumch of reeds tied together and asks his children to break them. They could not. When he unbound them, it became easy to break them. He said as long you are tied together, no one can hurt you. The Jews are liike a rose among the thorns which does not bend to either side in order not to get hurt but will grow straight. The ztaros the goyim afflict on us help us not to sway from Hashem.

The reason is that when chumras are added, they can also diminished as the border line between chumras and halacha becomes blurred. Shomro nafshi ki chassid ani where a chassid needs extra shmura. A rebbe’s daughter also needs extta shmura as she is being sometimes over protected. MO sticks to the border line.

Shabbos morning is called kedusha rabba. Explains tne Chasam Sofer that the kedusha increases in the morning over the night and so on. We say vo, voy and wom. We can explain this with the Tur that the three tefilos of shabbos are against three shabbosim. Friday night is against shabbos bereishis, of creation. The morning is kabolas hatorah and mincha is yom shekula shabbos, the time of techiyas hamesim.

Shalosh seudas rather than seuda shlishis is to emphasize its importance. When eating the third meal at raveh the raveh, a great eis ratzon, as the day of shabbos increases in kedusha, so the third meal when a person is not as hungry, eating lashem shomayim, weighs in greatness against all three meals.
