Life isn’t the same without you…
WHERE ARE YOU??
missing you 😉
this website should help you 😉
no you can use a regular computer screen, there are just special screens if you want it to be in higher quality 3d
I was part of this asifa 6 years ago in elementary school.
i still remember it clearly.
Hi Bais Yakov Maidel 😉
i haven’t posted on here in a really long time, but this thread caught my attention and a few things about it are confusing to me so i’m hoping that you will be able to clarify things for me.
i understand that you have not had the best experience in the BY system and you have a large gap of knowledge in your Judaic studies compared to your secular studies and that’s about where my understanding ends.
Torah would be lahavdil history/literary analysis.
Gemora would be law and case studies.
Science IS the brilliance of Hashem, but there is no comparitive “Jewish Science” because there is one world and its the same secular and Jewish world, meaning the same science.
I dont understand why learning law would make up for your science knowledge. Thats like comparing apples and oranges.
ok so your a science/logical person.
An experiment; Is Judaic studies up to par with secular studies in logic and reasoning.
Hypothesis: Judaic Studies is just as brilliant as secular studies.
Experiment: Will learn secular science and learn Hebrew law and compare them.
Conclusion: Invalid experiment because there are 2 variables not one.
So im confused why GEMORA is the answer to your problems.
It seems to me that in order to understand “profundity in Halacha” you should ask your husband or LOR or look up what you are confused about. No need to learn Gemora and become even more confused about things you never thought of.
Then your post moves on to a whole different topic.
“But there was none of this “females have a different brain and therefore can’t learn x-y-z” shtus that I always got from my Jewish educators.”
No one said you can’t learn science. You should feel up to par with your male colleagues…no one said you shouldn’t. They said that about Gemora and then again science and Gemora are two different worlds.
“when I need the rational components, they aren’t there.”
so ASK, LOOK IT UP, there’s sources for everything, and rabbanim for everything!
I want to be able to think that chazal were great people
Gemora is one compilation written over a span of 300 years out of a long history of the Jewish People. There are PLENTY of other works written by chazal that show they are great people. Read the works of the tannaim, gaonim, rishonim, acharonim. There are a lot more Chazal than the ones in the Gemora.
Read the debates of the Rambam with Pablo Christiani. They are BRILLIANT. and quite accessible. That will show you the greatness of Chazal. There are books written on a lot of Chazal that you can read and has stories of their brilliance. Read about the Vilna Gaon. Rashi. Rabbenu Gershom. They all are brilliant people.
“The secular world has no problem with the fact that I’m a woman. They open all the intellectual doors to me. “
(Just random side point, if the secular world had no problems with women there wouldn’t be a need for the feminist movement. So dont make them seem all nice and innocent 😉
“What about the frum world? Will the pre-screen me and say that “by virtue of the fact that I am female, I don’t have the brain capacity to really understand gemara… it’s just the way Hashem made things…”?”
Yes. they will. because on a general level that’s what the BRILLIANT CHAZAL said. but on an individual level, like asking a rav no they wont. There are plenty of exceptions and plenty of women who have learned gemora. Which is why asking this to a public forum the general consensus would be no women shouldnt learn gemora. But if we actually knew you and your case personally we might have a different opinion.
“I’m willing to give learning gemara a shot. But in the world I originally come from, the doors are closed. Whether hashkafically or practically.”
What on earth does “the world i originally come from mean”?
and if you’re so opposed to the BY system,WHY ON EARTH IS YOUR USERNAME BAIS YAKOV MAIDEL???

a guy was trying to get directions to the highway..
he didnt know how to say highway so he figured that “derech gavoah” would suffice…
he pulled over a car and asked “eifoh haderech gavoah?” the driver laughed…and instead of responding in engish which he knew…he replied
“ohd al”!!!- moron!!!!!!-isrealis have good comebacks!!
pac man can i ask u a personal question…??!!??

health-i wrote the breaking ribs thing cuz i did cpr on a guy in the train station yesterday and i’m petrified that i broke his ribs (he started breathing though!) stuffed is talking abt me in this post…lol but yeah it was kinda freaky!!
gavra-yeah they are very hashkafic…but they’re really good cuz she discusses tznius from a secular perspective too (she’s a baalas teshuva) so when your done reading the book u dont feel like you have to do tznius for the men out there, but rather that you have to be tznius for yourself…
yentaaa, adorable- this is sounding sketchier and sketchier by the second!!!
i have 9 brothers so i think i qualify to post on this thread…
i personally think boys are easier to raise than boys-1.they arent bratty 2. they don’t burst out crying every 5 minutes 3. they go for physical fighting more than emotional fighting like girls do 4.they don’t hold grudges forever-they forgive and forget
the harder part about raising boys is that you have to try harder to entertain them…they get bored easier than girls…which you might have a harder with cuz its very possible that he won’t be interested in playing with his older sisters…and while girls will come home crying and tell you exatly whats wrong, boys will just be upset and you’l have to figure out the rest on your own…
by the time he’s a teen you’ll be a pro at this and then you’ll have to figure out how to deal with teenage boys-those are a little complicated!!! but dont worry…you have time!!
gila manolsons books are great!!!
daughters of dignity-learned in school but i didnt like it…some ppl did though

g101-um…do i know you!?!?!? cuz i’m almost 100% sure that someone once told me that story…
stuffed-wow!!! that IS really brave of her!!! do i know her????
i don’t know what i would do if i was in that situation it probably would depend on how the guy looked…etc.
but if i would actually do it i would be terrified the whole time that i would break his ribs,…its really scary!!! hope i never experience it!!!
123bubby- it wasnt me who wrote tht statement it was princess17!!
kcdanceact-i for sure know you!!!! i’m a staff kid and have been going all my life, AND LOVE IT!!!! what year did you start going…??? i wanna know if your my age…
so all of you out there who are bragging that you’re not teens…i don’t think you should be doing that cuz if you’re not a teen then you’re not supposed to have time to be in the cr…
kapusta-when the number ends in teen…do you qualify?!?!?!
well i guess you think like a boy…cuz girls don’t think of things like that… btw there happens to be a womans only coffee room too…
false!!! i believe everything ppl say…even in the cr 😉
you don’t believe that bin ladens dead
well did you ever hear of YESHIVA of brooklyn or YESHIVA of flatbush…girls are EXPECTED too…;)

TRUE!!! i luv math!!!!!!!!!! 😉
ur good at math!!
gumball-probably…;) usually ppl don’t mess with the internet at ur age…!!! most 8 year olds don’t know how to use computers… lol
observantteen-no i’m not in eleventh…i’m in tenth 😉
so i guess that means that u just gave me a compliment?!?!!?!?
true!!!i’m talented at everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’
an i think that thats the part of the talent that no one else has…;)
observant teen-“We have to do what’s RIGHT. If it’s ok to wear yellow shoes, then so be it. If it’s not ok, it’s not”-thats what i thought too…so i asked s.o how it could be that half the things that my school says is not tznius (brklyn school) my friends out of town are allowed to wear to school?!?!?!
this is the answer i got…a big part of tznius is “not to stick out” so the only reason that yellow isnt tznius in brooklyn is cuz no one wears yellow so you would stick out. however if you would be in a community that a lot of people wear colors, than its fine cuz you wont stand out…do you get my train of thought???
what i was saying by “it is tznius after all” is that since many people wear colors in sternberg, and many people wear interesting things-you don’t stand out at all, thereby not posing a problem for it to be worn i nthe camp setting. however if one were to go home to a place were they would stand out, then their clothing would have to wait till the next summer to be worn…
is yellow shoes “tznius” in your community????
idk…sternberg is always gonna be sternberg!!!
if they decide to become more right winged than theyre ruining the camp…
the out of towners wouldnt come any more and the in towners would just go to any other camp that has a bunch of new yorkers…
if the crowd changes i dont think i would come back…i like all the out of towners…they’re really friendly!!!
stuffed cabbage-u sound like a brooklyner…do u by any chance live there???
i’ll assume its a yes…
well, outside of brooklyn theres a place called “out of town” and while “out of town” keeps ALL the HALACHOS of tznius, things like tightness, type of socks, and color are diff in every community…
in brooklyn anklets arent so much accepted, neither is bright colors, and neither is tight clothing, but…
in other communities it is accepted and thats the norm, thats the tznius of their community…
ex: bright yellow shoes are not “tznius” in brooklyn, but if you would go to bais yaakov miami, plenty of girls are wearng them and its ok…
since sternberg has majority of their campers from “out of town” everyone is asked to dress in a way that is appropriate for THEIR community…
so to answer ur question they are being tznius after all…
however if they would go against halacha, tht would be looked down on…
stuffed i’m just gonna rewrite the statement so its clear…
you have a talent like no one else you know has!!
(feel free to expound on it 😉
and if u wanna still answer statement one feel free to do so, just write statement 1
sternbergs dress code is that your elbows, collarbones, knees, and ankles should be covered at all times…!!! anything you wear that have those requirements is accepted…;) tightness, type of socks, and color of clothing is accepted in any form and nothing is looked down on…
potpie-i wonder if i know you…when did u go to sternberg?!?!?!? i’ve been goin since i was born…(staff brat…;)
ha ha shticky guy i had to read tht post like 10 times till i got it!!!! good one…
but technicly speaking it would have to be in quotes for ur interpretation of the rule to be correct…;)
true-i’ve been goin to camp since i was born…STAFF KIDS ROCK!!!
