Thanks for the tip mdg! The reason I use honey but not sugar is because honey is much more healthy than cane sugar…

ok so here is my question: which is prefferable, that a BY girl should go to a secular city college with goyim (brooklyn college

), or to an all Jewish college with different hashkafos(stern)?

i actually remember learning that women are not allowed to look at pritzus becuase it has a negative affect on them, not because of the attraction.

BSD – no, i am not that familair with European Jews fin di alteh heim – i have no idea what that means btw, but i think i get what you meant from your next sentance…

however i do have it from my grandparets that when they were young and when their grandparents were young… when 30 year old men married 15 year old girls they didn’t have this problem. i dont know why that would be though as you say that this problem DID exist in Europe of old.

taking a break – i couldn’t agree with you more! nothing is worse then when you tell someone you just burt your hand taking cookies out of the oven and the person says “clutz! how’d you manage that?”

yungerman1 – you make a pretty good argument 🙂 but it is still no excuse to undermine someone else’s pain. if someone relates an uncomfortable situation he/she (especially she) is obviously seeking sympathy. once thats then done by all means solve the problem/put in your own two cents!

sure supergirl! lets just finish this one

“Surreptitiously, Lintfree established a homeland security anti lintorism task forced charged with monitoring potential hotbeds of lint production. It was kept top secret, but unfortunately the evil forces of L.I.N.T. planted a mole in the highest ranks of the C.L.A.(Counter Lintelligence Agency) and unbeknown to them were monitoring all their activity. Lint was spreading at an alarming rate, under the guise of beneficial products such as gourmet a la lint and the like, and was beginning its nefarious takeover of the unsuspecting populace… “

luckily, Lintfree was struck with a lightbulb moment. He came up with a mechanism that no one heared of before. It was specifically designed to suck all lint into a a disposable bag/box. he called it the Vacuum!!! and all the world was saved! THE END!!!

try concentrating on just one person in the audience to whom you feel comfortable singing to… but make sure that that person will be sitting in the center within the first three rows, because with the bright lights thats pretty much all you’ll be able to see (which might be a good thing for the nervs!)

also – try not to worry so much, people are not there to laugh at you, only to chear you on! even if chas veshalom you do crack up, i promise they wont laugh! 🙂

i hope this helps! good luck!!!! 😀

observanteen, you are absolutly correct! i just dont think that telling these teens that they deserve death will help. and most teens dont go off the derech simply because of ta’avah – unless we are speaking of two different issues. i am reffering to the teens who go off and do drugs, get tatoos, run away from home… not the kind where the kid starts to watch movies (if he comes from a family which forbids it) or other such things.

obviousely one must have yiras shamayim – but my opinion on how to instil it is completely different from the OP.

additionally, when i say that most of these kids are subjects of abuse, i am not neccessaraly reffering to the abuse that the public hears about. these kids dont tell ANYONE what was done to them (vehamavin yavin). they feal badly enough and most blame themselves. they are hurting more than you can imagine! true they need firm discipline but with “smol docha veyamin mekarevet” they think G-d hates them – telling them that they deserve death will not make them do teshuva, they will just continue thinking that they are a lost case anyways… but if children were instilled with proper bitachon – really instilled with it – of course with yirah too, then perhaps we can prevent futer teens from going OTD.

i know 3 pple who were subject to said abuse. two went OTD and are currently getting help, and the 3rd only remained because she is one of the strongest girls i know – her bitachon is astounding, and even she struggles daily.

sorry everyone, but i still feal that having ppl learn true Emuna and Bitachon will work far better than trying to make them “Scared Straight” – however its a moot point anyway as public burnings will pribably not become legal…

MP – i couldn’t have said it better than PrincessEagle! i really enjoy reading posts that have such meaning. thank you!

goq- that is a hard question to answer. apologizing may be hard because of all the embarrasement and shame that comes with admiting (even to yourself) that you were wrong. however to forgive is an extrememly high madregah because of all the hurt that you endured. i do feal though that it is easier to forgive someone who has given a sincere apology, than to forgive someone who never apologised…

thanx queen bee, mp, and soliek! your advice is amazing!

queen bee – its funny cuz i usually write many stories all at once! sometimes inspiration comes that doesnt fit to a story i started so i simply start a new one! watever comes to my head hits the paper. i dont really write in order… even when i was in highschool writing and essay 🙂 also i dont really get bored because the plot is boring rather – how many times can you read the same book, even one that you like? also to me nothing is perfect simply because i wrote it so i see mistakes – sort of like when i cook, to me it never tastes right (too much x, needs more y…) but no one else knows what i am talking about! so i guess i better stop with the rereads and just continue… and you guys are right – characters do have a mind of their own!

mp- you are soooo right about keeping things simple! i dont really use too many metaphors and stuff like that in my stories – i save that stuff for poetry and music. the polishing that i spend hours doing is trying to keep things simple – i tend to talk in circles that dont make much sence to anyone but me 🙂 and since i LOVE writing fantasy my characters usually end up in some sort of mess that neads a crazy twist to get them out of trouble – so i keep thinking “does this make sence? would this actually work?” oh, and thanx for the welcome! yes i have been away for the holidays…

soliek- what you said makes perfect sence, i totaly know what you mean! i try to NEVER force writing – the reader can ALWAYS tell when the author was trying too hard! i know those are the books that i put down after the first chapter! and i usually ignore grammar completely lol! as for dialogue that is most of my writing 🙂 i should really write a play…

but i really dont know if i can show pple my writing BEFORE its done… i have a hard time showing it when it IS done… then everyone will know just how twisted my thinking process is lol! but i guess if i never do i’ll never learn right?

BTW NaNoWriMo takes place all year or only in november?

    thanks again everyone!!!

“Lack of Yiras Shomayim is probably the cause to many teenagers going OTD.”

    WRONG!!!!!!!!! WRONG!!!!!!!!! WRONG!!!!!!!!!

Most kids go OTD because of personal experiences that would greatly shock you – NOT because of a lack of Yiras Shomayim. I’d like to see how you would deal with what these kids went through to make them do what they’re doing. we are in absolutely NO possision to judge them!

as for the OP’s suggesgtion to have a public Sreifa – apparantly G-d doesn’t agree as we dont have a proper Bet Din today, and even in the times that we did, a generation in which 2 mitot bet din were carried out was considered bloodthirsty.

Thanks for the advice Queen Bee! but my problem is that i dont let ANYONE see my work until i am absolutly certain that i polished it completely – and by that time i went over my work so many times that i end up getting bored and sick of it so i just move on to a NEW piece instead of continuing the old one! i guess you are right though, if i get a friend to read my work polished chapter by polished chapter then that friend will probably push me to continue the story to know how it ends if nothing else 🙂 and yeah i also wish there was some sort of Jewish online writing club…

koillel101 – try eating 5 SMALL meals everyday whith HEALTHY snaks between (10 almonds etc). no, you will not gain weight as this is the ideal diet because you are keeping your metabolism working, and yourself full all day, meaning that you snack on junk less, and you probably wont feel hungry so late at nite…
