    Let me ask another question:

Since when can you see male patients? You’re not a doctor, you’re not doing anything near pikuach nefesh, so how does a female dental hygenist get to see male patients?

pixelate, the VP almost never presides over the Senate. It is presided over by a President Pro Tempore, who acts as the Senate President. The only time the VP is there is when there’s a tie or other important events like the opening or certifying the electors.

The same is with the House, the Speaker can give over authority to other Reps to act as Speaker and that is what is often done. The room is usually empty because nobody really cares for what the other guy is saying, or the other members are in meetings.

HaLeivi, that is correct, before the war religious Judaism was not black or white, there were shades of grey.

I forgot the name of the sefer, but it’s available on hebrewbooks.org where it goes through some of the opinions of late 19th and early 20th century rabbonim. And, yes, they range from extreme on one side to the extreme on the other with many smack in the middle. Geography also played a part in how they decided and contrary to what you might read about from Hakatan and the other guys, the Agudah was not of one opinion one way or the other.

Oh Shreck, and what about all the gedolim who were not against Zionism?

See the writings of R’ Chaim Berlin, R’ Yitzchok Elchonon Spektor, and most others, including the Agudah in Europe who voted for the Peel commission.

Furthermore, even if 100% of gedolim were against the State, that was a theoretical. It’s now on the ground and everything changes. You can’t pasken facts on the ground with theoretical.

You can take a look at hebrewbooks.org and look for the Coco-Cola shailah. The rabbi said that “it’s not possible for Jews to drink treife, so I will see if I can find a way to make it kosher.”

Because this wasn’t academic but reality, he “found” a heter.

Had it been academic, a rosh yeshivah would have just said, “assur.”

This is another reason why the slide to the right is happening, since a majority of the gedolim are RY and not poskim/shul rabbis (which is another article, how people are not utilizing shul rabbanim anymore) the slide is inevitable.

nishtdayngesheft, it’s funny how you try to insult the MO but you end up insulting yourself. One of the reasons given for using the AH over the MB is indeed because the AH was on the ground paskening.

It has been said that one of the reasons why there is a slide to the right is because we are now using Roshey Yeshiva and not Rabbonim to pasken shailos. It’s not very good to pasken based on theoretics.

Until very recently, the AH was the ultimate.

One of the reasons why the MB took over was due to the ease of reading the MB over the AH.

In Europe, the AH was used as the guide and indeed R’ Moshe says to use the AH.

One of the reasons is that the AH was written later and includes some MB comments, also the AH was a posek while the MB is at times more theoretical.

Out of curiosity what has R’ Horowitz done other than write about issues? It seems that both are needed. R’ Horowitz writes to educate and Nuchem does his thing to get action.

Educate all you want, but if the people are still out there molesting or being protected by rabbis then writing won’t do much.

    1) Just because the BR says it’s a fact doesn’t make it a fact.

    2) 99.99999% of YESHIVHS, CHAREDI people don’t hold of the BR, so by you continuing to bring him and Satmar doesn’t do much.

The FACT remains is that in Europe, MOST of the gedolim were in favor. See the writings of R’ Chaim Berlin, R’ YE Spektor, and many, many others.

Hakatan, you can keep posting your stupid drivel but nothing will change the fact that your opinions are a minority of a minority of Jewish rabbanim.

In addition, you seem to think that it’s 100% black or white, but guess what, nothing is 100% black or white.

I guess R’ Berlin, R’ Yitzchok Elchonon Spektor and other gedolim would not be considered gedolim bu akuperma and others.

PBA, he never said he hates charedim, he said the charedim are becoming more hateful in his eyes. Big difference.

rebdoniel, you can also add the Seridei Aish to the kol isha ruling.

DY, halacha and chumrah do not mean the same thing.

GAA, not necessarily in this case, but I wouldn’t say halacha is uncompromising. That’s very black and white, and not true.

You are really out of your mind.

Nowhere, nowhen, nohow else has Torah flourished than under the generosity of the State of Israel.

Instead of being thankful, you are hateful and then you wonder why the chilonim don’t want to give in to all the charedi demands and fake halachos.

Since most cheeses today use a vegetable based rennet, is that considered “halachic” cheese?

As for hechsherim go, all of us today are basing our kashrus model on one posek, sort of a yeish machmirim. IIRC, it was the RASHBA, but we are not really (according to halacha) worried about cockamany scenarios from a company making food products.

Shraga18, shoelaces my foot. If you think this is a shmad issue, then I really have to worry about yahadus in 2013. It’s a terrible shame when people make up halachos and when other people don’t go for it, they get labeled as evil.

Having separate hours in a health clinic is moronic.

And, FTR, if you ask anyobody living in Israel, the past health minister had been a disaster for Israel. If you’re going to be super-Charedi and make up laws, then don’t go into politics and don’t become health minister.

BTW, the biggest meikil on mamzerim in the US was R’ Moshe Feinstein. R’ Henkin (who was THE gadol hador in the US) rules that a Conservative (maybe even Reform) marriage requires a get. R’ Moshe holds that they don’t need a get.

According to R’ Henkin, those children from second marriages would be mamzerim, since the first marriage is still valid.

What’s wrong with my post? If you’re going to attack MO rabbanim for making mamzerim, the least you can do is do the same for Yeshivish rabbanim.

It’s not like it’s just me saying that. The “entirety” of rabbanim got involved but ultimately, money spoke louder.

There are tons of correspondance about this issue, one just has to ask their local rabbi for information to see the destruction.

    Speaking of Satmar fighting…..

One faction wanted to build a shul in the turf of the other faction. That other faction then went to the city to complain and make up a charge. The city yesterday ruled against the complaint and a new shul can be opened.

Imagine, two brothers fighting over turf so much that they fight to block a shul from opening.

Regardless of your view, we should at least have a new rule where you only quote statements made after 1948. Anything made before is irrelevant.

Also, once we’re making up quotes, some famous gadol said that sharing truth is the best.

However, his English is not that good and he meant to say that Truthsharer is the best.
