That’s an interesting observation. I do notice some sweeping besmirching comments, more from “your camp” than his, but I believe those are put through to facilitate discussions from both sides. When they are specifically aimed to humiliate/mock/ridicule only one poster they get deleted regardless of who writes them, there are halachos about that type of speech as well as CR rules.

Either way, I will try to be more cognizant of it.

    Thanks for responding.

nisht – if you know I’ll probably delete it, what’s the point? (just curious really)

Ditto on the sunscreen. We have been directed to keep fresh wounds away from sunlight to prevent discoloration.

I have been told by doctors many times that none of those “remedies” are legit. If the stitches were done well, and by a competent doctor, that will be your best deterrent. According to the health professionals I have spoken to, the products are either placebos or snake oil.

Shul I that does not ring true at all. These girls have chessed jobs by regular ladies who are struggling to get their dishes washed while pregnant, nursing and working full time. And they often help out in homes they visit on Shabbos which paint the same pictures.

Popa, you seem to be playing both sides of the fence?

in reply to: How about being machmir on ben adam l'chaveiro? #1140134

We all know exactly the purpose of this thread. We weren’t born yesterday

    I really didn’t. I guess I’m much younger than I look.

and your response is also entirely predictable.

Thank you, thank you. If defending people is entirely predictable from me then all I can say is Baruch Hashem.

Not at all Popa. I was referring to the tendency of certain posters to find or invent the biggest chumrot possible.

That was pretty much what I had assumed. With an emphasis on certain.

Don’t know who is right, just offering a second viewpoint.

in reply to: How about being machmir on ben adam l'chaveiro? #1140129

Well if you do think that as opposed to knowing that than you have ahalachik obligation to assume he doesn’t.

in reply to: How about being machmir on ben adam l'chaveiro? #1140126

Popa I think you misread. It was about individuals who worry about looks of themselves and others without regard to behavior. You think that describes chareidim? I don’t. But it does describe many people and, as he said, there are plenty of posts on other threads supporting it. The leap from individuals to groups seems to be someone not being dan l’kaf z’chus 🙂

Do you all really have a problem with a sign up too long? My problem with this is how the customer was treated.

    in reply to: Topics #1135920

You aren’t going to like this answer but here it is. When I see sensitive topics I take into consideration the poster and possible intent (as best as I can). You posted recommendations that were put together by doctors. Now you want to respond to people, including someone who himself lost a child R”L, who had questions or comments. This information needs to come to them from their doctors. I am sure you remember the recent commotion we had in the CR when you were giving medical tips and I don’t believe a repeat with this type of topic would be beneficial.

I apologize if that doesn’t sit right with you, perhaps you can continue your counsel on the news page.

in reply to: How Do You Feel the Presence of God? #1136447

So true and so well expressed. If people felt the presence of Gd they would feel loved and protected and would rather be there than anywhere. I wish I could bottle it and pass it out for free.

To throw my two cents in I will tell you an experience I had. I was davening hard for some difficult situations to be improved. I wasn’t sure what to do or if my efforts were causing more harm than good. The next morning one of my married children stopped by and made a comment about himself that gave me direct insight into some questions I was asking the day before. It didn’t solve any of the problems, but it let me know that things may not be as they seem. This brought me tremendous relief and I felt like Hashem was physically putting an arm around me and telling me that He’s with me on this.

yeru, you are going on and on about internet and internet and internet as if everyone who doesn’t have internet is living a pristine life of Torah and Yiras Shamayim.

There are many other problems in all the schools besides internet. I agree 100% with the no internet rule. I also believe in the no motzei shem ra rule, the no illegal basement businesses rule, the no long sheital rule, the no hiding a tv in your closet rule, the no going to Miami and wearing a bathing suit with your tichel rule and the no telling businesses you are under 13 when you really aren’t rule.

Don’t kick out the kid who’s father has a netflix account while you accept a kid who’s father runs a cash business. Take them both or send them both walking.

Please understand that if you want to disinfect a learning environment, which I agree with, you can’t do it by closing the doors to swine flu while ingesting ebola. People do not get offended by individuals wanting better for their kids, people get offended when individuals want better for their kids but don’t take care of their own issues before rubber stamping someone else’s. And some people have become so accustomed to it that they won’t even know what is so offensive about it.

I’m sorry if I implied intimidating, I felt it was somewhat academic. But either way, as Avram pointed out well, you seemed frustrated with the lack of response and almost annoyed. I do think it is an excellent question and topic and I think it will trigger responses in people whether they choose to post them or not. Thank you for bringing it up.

in reply to: How Do You Feel the Presence of God? #1136442

I think a lack of dialog regarding the actual relationship with Hashem is strange and troublesome.

You are confusing lack of dialog in the CR forum with lack of dialog between people. You may also be underestimating how your tone affects people’s willingness to share such personal information. This is definitely a great topic and I would not be quick to assume it isn’t discussed between people in real life.

I don’t know who modified your post after I posted mine but I will accept that as an admission of responsibility for making false statements. Unfortunately there are more honest ways to go about it.

in reply to: Rechnitz Speech in Lakewood #1137917

Joseph, those are some pretty strong statements to make so definitively when there is no possible way you could even have an ounce of factual evidence to back yourself up with.

The OP presented a version of so-called facts that pretended that Israel is physically safer for Jewish living than the diaspora.

No, they said nothing of the sort, as you know. The OP said she heard the time to leave is when Jews are being killed in the streets. And they are. Period. The fact that one isn’t enough to make an impression on you is irrelevant.

in reply to: Time to leave US #1136033

Killing Jews in the street is mostly happening in the State of Israel. Even France doesn’t have it as bad as the Israelis.

Joseph you don’t seem to understand that mostly is irrelevant here. One is too many and happening less is still happening. Not to confuse you with facts.
