I said I saw it elsewhere not just the 5 towns news and I posed more information about the group from the “elsewhere”.

The newsource that first reported it was a secular israeli site (I think). not the 5 towns or the “failled” site

What is the lie or fool

It wasnt just in the 5 towns news.

A charedi group is upset that they are taking control of the Kotel area from them.

The name of the group is Edah Haredit.

More anti Satmar hatred 🙁 . WIY, can’t you see how inappropriate your attitude is for somone who considers himself “ruchniyusdik”?

Burning Israeli Flags , Supporting Nuteri Karta (At least in the past even if they might not do it now) Calling other Jews Shaygetzes for example isnt exactly the best way to win friends and influence people.

The actual story about the 2 hour bus is as follows (There was more that actually wasnt important before, but maybe now it is), I saw it in a book from Hanoch Teller

Rav Shach would ride 2 hours each way by bus to the Yeshiva, Some of the Talmidim complained that it was undignified for a Gadol to ride 2 hours each way and that he should get a drivers license and then the ride would be alot faster.

I think it was Rav Shlomo Auberbach ruled against the drivers license and it was better for him to take the bus because on the Bus he could learn during the 2 hour ride, When he would drive he would have to concentrate on the road and even though the trip would be alot shorter

    Nobody asked me directly.

They dont really say who they are collecting for only that they are collecting and that they have some sort of approbation that is illegible

Actually I am being asked to donate as Satmar come collecting to my Shul every morning during Shachris.

If a Rich folk wishes to drive a Lexus , its his money not donated money.

FYI Rav Shach used to ride the BUS everyday to the Yeshiva , an almost 2 hour ride

And BTW I am not for ANYONE flying a Private jet, let the fly cattle car like the rest of us. If its good enough for me, its good enough for Bill Gates

You are full of baloney. Satmar Mosdos have never ever collected in Shuls anywhere. Why would you blatantly lie like this?

People are assuming OP is talking about Triangle K to say an O-U

What if the OP is talking about the OU and changing it to a CRC or Badatz . Plenty of Charedim dont think the OU is Kosher enough

I first heard about modern Karaties in a book about The founding of Israel. I had heard of them of course in school but thought they disappeared.

In the book it talked about the founding of the state of Israel and how many jews from Sephardic countries wanted to emigrate there. The Karaties came from Sephardic countries and also wanted to emigrate. And the book also discussed other Safek jews like the Bnei Israel and later the Ethiopians. With the law of return the issue of who is a jew is not only a halachic one , but a political one as only jews can immigrate to the state of israel.

The Book said that rabbis at the time decided that Karaties where jewish but the issue of marriage , divorce and manzer was an issue and never answered it (It never mentioned Patralineal decent).

For those who say some dont consider them jewish, there are those who dont consider many AMERICAN jews jewish, especially those that came before WW II. In order to marry in Israel you need to prove you are jewish. Most american jews who came before WW II cannot prove this to easily. Think about it, How do you prove you are jewish, Other than you were told you are, you dont have any other physical proof. Even proving your maternal grandmothers maiden last name sounding jewish hasnt been enough proof (Thats about the best proof most people have)

At least the Russian jews had either a Jewish Star or Zhid stamped in their passports so they had some proof.

It amazing some people want to live in a bubble

When you are married there are little things like the toilet seat up or down that can really bug people and there are big issues like Money, kids, and other issues not for this forum.

Some of these issues are solveable and some are more intractable (Money is always the toughest)

To say they dont exist is to live in a vaccuum, you try to make them work and do the best you can.

If there was a restaurant that you wanted to go to , and nobody you knew had eaten there

Wouldnt you want to know if it was an overpriced roach motel with Bad food and rude waiters.

People arent reading Yelp reviews because of L’H, they are reading them because they want to eat at the restaurant

PBA, I think its just a generational thin.

Some people are comfortable on the internet sites like Yelp and tripavisor and some are not.

The younger people I know are comfortable with this , but the older not so much

If you saw a person go into a restaurant on Shabbos who you knew was the owner and turned on the light

Later a friend asked you if that resturant was Kosher, would you tell them what you saw or not

Now lets say you were at the same restaurant and you saw roaches on the wall and a friend asked you what you thought of the restaurant.

Is it OK to tell people about the Mechalel Shabbos but not about the Roaches

And FYI on places like Tripadvisor and yelp smart businesses monitor the site for reviews and if there are bad reviews take it as Chizuk (you can usually tell if the gripes are legit or not) and try to do better next time

If someone wanted a New Car and asked you about a certain dealer, That you knew to be a crook or dishonest. Its not Loshon haroh to tell the truth

The same on Yelp , if you know a certain restuarant has bad food and the service is lousy you are allowed to tell someone who asks.

Someone browsing on Yelp is just asking people what they think of the place and just like you tell about the New Car Dealer, you tell about the restaurant with lousy food and lousy service

It wasnt the Langer case, But some of them had to do with the Russians.

I forgot the Rabbis name, but there was a Rabbi (Orthodox) in Israel who was converting Russians and Rav Elyshiv invalidated all the conversions (It was lot). and put many people in limbo

It wasnt just Chief Rabbi Goren, It was also Rav Elishev.

The issue came before Rav Moshe in a case where it seemed the local Rabbi was pressured to do the conversion and he refused to invalidate the conversion.

While not knowing he specifics of he Langers, In general in previous generations Rabbanim were loath to label people Mamzers even if there was evidence that they were

    That’s a Very Good question!

E/o has Taivahs in this world, but most of us Try to control them!

I know someone who married such a person and they had to get divorced. It isnt fair to the wife if her husband is that way. A woman wants to be needed , wanted and attracted by her husband. Why should the wife and possibly children be affected by such a person

When did the period of “Achronim” end? Or are we still in the Achronim period today? If not, what are we in?

Some say the Achronic period ended with WW II and we are now in the Gedolim period.

Rabbinim who were born in Europe (Like Rav Moshe) would still be considered Achronic rather than Gedolic since he was from that generation

    5) As a Charedi I will tell you, I have a couple of friends who are Gerim, I do not by any means look down upon C”V, nor do I invalidate any geirut, for anyone who does, is NOT a Charedi Jew! He is going directly against an explicit verse in the Torah! (quite a few actually…)

I think you need to read up on some trends, Geirut has been retroactivly invalidated by some major Gedolim

another issue to publically mock someone whom many consider a great person even if they do not follow his beliefs or belive he is a god

I don’t agree. It is a mitzva to mock avodah zara.

Doing a quick google, it seems the Dalai Lama has been to the Kotel at least twice in 1999 and 2006 (He was probably there before as well, but I couldnt find it) and prayed (With a Kippa no less) at it.

I tried to find if there was any Protest against this by the Rabbanim and I couldnt find any, I am not saying there wasnt a protest only I didnt see an article and Im fairly certain if there was a protest, it would have been published if only in order to make certain people look bad.

The Peyos like the Chassidim wear does stand out

I stand slightly corrected on Rav Ovadiah Yosef, I looked at some pictures and it is a Black hat, but its not the same hat worn in Yehsivas. It seems similar to a hat the Famous Rambam Pictures have

Today there is no “Jewish Clothing”

If you are chassidish a Streimel and a Becasher would be part of the clothing, If you are Ashkenzic Yeshivish a Black Hat would be part of the dress, if you are Sephardic whatever Rav Ovadiah Yosef wears (I dont think Sephardim wear black, they think its bad luck) I dont know what his hat is called
