If you price something too high on Amazon, they block the item and it takes up to 48 hours to get it re-instated.

While too high is not really defines you probably could get away with listings a tissue box for $20, but not for $200

And what if someone actually does order your box of Kleenex tissues on Shabbos for $30/box?

    Nothing

In fact on Amazon you dont even get the money until you ship the item. Its not like the B&H website where they get the money before the item is even shipped

You are allowed to sell “Experiences” on eBay meaning something like batting practice at yankee stadium

This appears to fall into that category. Its not really a Tzdekah so gofundme really wouldnt work as its not really a charity

I applaud the seller for thinking outside the box, To raise funds you need sometimes to think outside the box

The only issues I see are the following

THE SELLER WILL MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO AMICABLY RESOLVE ALL ISSUES TO THE MUTUAL SATISFACTION OF BOTH PARTIES. ANY OUTSTANDING UNRESOLVED ISSUES WILL BE REFERRED TO ARBITRATION OF THE JEWISH COURT OF LAW CHOSEN BY THE SELLER AT THE TIME OF SALE AND ALL DISPUTES WILL BE GOVERNED BY JEWISH RELIGIOUS TORAH LAW.

This is against ebay rules, anytime there is a dispute with an eBay listing you have to go through eBay for resolution. (Its their platform, they have the right to make any rules they want and if you dont like it, dont list there)

This Is also illegal according to eBay rules, You cannot make an open auction and deny a winning bidder, its against the rules (You can make a Pre-approved buyer auction, which is what the seller should have done)

    1) TALMUD SPONSORSHIP IS A PART OF JEWISH RELIGIOUS OBSERVANCE AND THUS UNFORTUNATELY AT THIS TIME BIDDING ON THIS AUCTION IS LIMITED TO THOSE WHO ARE JEWISH BY UNIVERSAL STANDARDS ACCEPTED BY ALL JEWISH COMMUNITIES.

Is also illegal according to eBay rules

Joseph compared a Brick and Mortar store to an online store, they are not the same. By his comment , he has no clue how online selling works

And Like I said there are plenty who say because there is no Kinyan it is not a Halachic Sale

If you use Fufillment by Amazon, you cant close it

Its not the same as a corner store

The only way to close it , is to get your stuff back which takes about 2-3 weeks.

And BTW there are other Psaks that it is not a Halachic sale since a Kinyon didnt actually take place. Espcially on Amazon where you dont even get the money until you ship the item

We didnt have large divorce rates until about the 1960’s when no-fault divorce became legal. No-fault divorce was the biggest reason why divorces have increased

Intermarriage increased when it became not only socially acceptable for a NON JEW to marry a jew, in many cases its seen as even desirable among non jewish women to get a jewish husband.

Look at both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, both gave their blessings when their daughters married jewish men. That would not have happend 100 years ago, both daughters would have been disowned

If you are going to make a statement about a business, at least know all the details

B&H runs their own website so they can shut it off for 25 hours. Not everyone who makes money selling online has their own website and is a “slave” to the rules of the websites they are selling from.

While it can be done to run an online business from your own website, not everyone can do it and therefore must use Amazon and eBay and on Amazon and ebay you are subject to their rules and operation of the website (If you Fufill the items yourself you can put your store on vacation, however if you let Amazon Fufill you cannot put store on vacation)

And I bet if people spoke to Rav Wolfson, he would mention B&H and that they do it, It is not the same as using Amazon or eBay.

And BTW Amazon doesnt even give you the money until you ship the item, The Payment system is different than if you use your own website like B&H. Ebay uses paypal which puts the money in an escrow account and can take it back at will

Rav Wolfson said: A yid that believes that hashem can give him Parnassah is 6 days , does not need to have his online business running for 7 days.

He also doesnt totally understand how it works by that statement, you cannot turn off Amazon Fufillment for 25 hours, Which is how the real money is made on Amazon

While some people like B&H run their own website, most people use Amazon, ebay and Wal-Mart which work differently

I went to a secular college

I rarely had classes on Fridays and if I did it ended by noon

never had any finals on Fridays

I never had any assignments due friday night, If there was a class on Yom Tov, the professors gave you an excused abensence and never assingned any exams for that day

As far as Non-Jews. there are non-jews everywhere. If you go out and get a job you will likely work with non-jews.Deal with it. Better to learn to deal with it in College than call your boss a stupid goy

I am not a fashion expert, but I know goth when I see it

Its a whole look, wearing black doesnt make you goth, the clothes are a certain syle. They just look differnet.

ive seen women with black nail polish who were clearly not goth, Usually if a male has black nailpolish he is goth

Black Nail polish is not really the gothic look, Its black Lipstick and black all around , black clothing, but a certain type of black clothing and black hair (You can tell dyed black hair versus natural black hair)

when you see a goth, you know it

The problem with lakewood is not crime, but rather traffic fatalities. there are plenty of parts of Lakewood with no sidewalks and no traffic lights so people are forced to walk Friday night on the streets and some are unfortunatly hit by cars.

I saw somewhere it was recommended people were some sort of reflective coats to help drivers see them, but when I go there I dont see anyone wear them

The train schedule is why standard time was created, but there are other reasons

People have conference calls all the time. And they the call is schedualed for Noon Eastern Time. You need to be exact to know what Noon eastern time is.

Halachic Noon is different in Los Angeles than it is in NY

The Shaah Zmanios doesnt work for modern societies because Halachic Noon is differnet in NYC than it is a Philadelphia and things like trains need to have a standard time so noon means the same thing in NYC and Philadephia so there is no confusion

Its not a big deal if the time for Shabbos is slightly differnet for both cities, but it is a big deal if a train is supposed to arrive at noon, you need to know what noon means

Standard time zones are a relatively new idea

It used to be that noon was when the sun was at its greatest, however once railsroads came and ran on a time table, you needed standardized time to run the trains properly without causing accidents, It was the railroads that caused the creation of standardized time

People werent nessasarily happily married in the olden days either

Another factor is people are living longer. The average lifespan until about 1900 was 43. Most people live past that. meaning there is more time to get divroced (You would be surprised how many people married 20 years or more get divorced)

    takahmamash

    As I understand it

There are lines of longetude imaginary vertically line over the earth, they somewhat correspond with time zones (although not exactly) the starting time zone accepted by the world is Grenwich mean time which is zero longetude and that is in London. The international date line is supposed to be 180 degrees from London (Its approximatly with some zig zagging because some places wanted to be in a certain time zone like the Aleutian islands of Alaska , some are past 180 Degrees but wanted to be part of the rest of Alaska)

Some Poskim hold that London is NOT where the time zones should start, but rather Jerusalem is where it should start. If you move Greenwich mean time from London to Jerusalem which is east then the international date line moves east as well and the 180 degree point is west of Hawaii and Alaska which now it is east

I never understood tht until I heard the following: Souls in Gehinom get a reprieve for Shabbat. Their reprieve lasts until the last shul says havdalah.

Shabbos basically lasts 48 hours somewhere on the globe, If you start Shabbos in New Zealand which is about 20 hours ahead of NY and end Shabbos in Hawaii which is 5 hours past NY the total time is about 48 hours

In previous generations food was scarce and many people fasted during the week at least 1 or 2 days and shabbos was the only day they ate, not that they ate so well, but they ate decently.

Today we eat well during the week and then we pig out on shabbos. And tradional shabbos foods are fattening full of oils and other unhealthy stuff and today not only do we eat 3 meals on shabbos, many times we eat 4 meals (Some Shul kiddushes are themselves large feasts) While some will condem me for this, if I know there is a large kiddush in shul, we dont really eat lunch at home, Its just too much food

I do not feel unsafe in NY, Its very safe now. I didnt feel unsafe in Israel either for the most part (I was in the old city at night and was a little at uneast, but it could have been me not the real situation)

The point only was Crime might be more of an issue in the US, but terrorism is more of an issue in Israel. Traffic accidents are an issue in both places
