The Early reform said the same thing you did, They claimed they did thing “L’sham Shamaym” and early reform temples did not look much different than orthodox and the changes were minor.

We see what happend when the reform did certain things. One is not supposed to veer from the left or the right. Sheker is Sheker no matter who does it.

The difference between Shabbos or Yom Tov and Thanksgiving is after the meal when everyone is getting cabin fever and sick of each other , you can go home.

When the first family fight occurs right after kiddush on the first day of yom tov , you are all stuck together for the next 48 hours

To say jerusalem is safer than NY just isnt true. Terrorists have attacked jews davening in Shul. Terrorists have attacked jews in Machane Yehuda. Unfortuantly terrorists have deemed the jerusalem light rail a terrorist target 🙁

I dont get your opinion, You said you agreed that it is wrong to change the truth, but you agreed with the reason for photoshopping.

If you want to say , not to put the photo in, I dont have a problem with that position, I have a serious problem with changing history . There is never a good reason to change history

The reason IMO that its wrong is because if someone finds out that you photoshopped and changed history, they will begin to question other things you told them. Once someone is exposed as a liar, it can be hard to prove to people you are telling the truth

Bais Yaakov was started becauae in the 19th Century governments passed laws forcing mandatory schooling for everyone since there was yeshivas for boys , the boys went there, but there was nothing comparable for girls so they went to public school, There was a need for a school for religious girls like there was for religious boys

Thanksgiving today has no religious significance, Its just a day where familes get together , eat turkey watch football and argue with Aunt Sadie and uncle fred whom you havent seen since last year. And you can leave once the meal is over and not see your hated relatives until next year

Most trade shows are not open to the general public, you need creditials

And even if you pay, the money goes to the trade show company, not the individual vendors. so what people do is go and just sample food all day and the vendors lose money and dont get any sales

The Halacha is you have to eat Kosher . So if someone makes Kosher Sushi it is just as kosher as Gefilte “Fish”

If you saw the video the owner of the lost Tfillin was not the only one who stuffed in tiffin in a cubby hole where they didnt fit, He was just the unlucky one. It could have happend to anyone of those other people and if you go to many shuls a similar situation occurs. People just stuff their tfillin somewhere in such a way something could happen, Im sure tiffiln falls on the floor regularly and the owner doesnt know and some good samaritan jsut picks it up, Ive seen enough tfillin storage spaces where they look like they are about to fall out.

If it was a $100,000 diamond ring would you stuff it somewhere in a cubby hole or some other place where something easily could happen Kol V’Chomer one should treat there tffillin in such a way

One has to be very careful about telling children not to play with their favorite toy on Shabbos (Yeah I know many toys are electronic and assur) but yelling Muktah or Shabbos at young children who might not understand might give them a very negative view of shabbos and instead of a good day, they will see it in a very negative light

One should try to keep away the electronic toys first and worry about the lego’s and tinker toys later, Taking them all away and making the kid take out a sefer instead may backfire

One year I marched with a disabled group at the Israeli Day Parade.

Many of the marchers were obviously disabled and they were giving out fliers about the organization to people in the crowd. One of them did not know about Netruri Karta and gave one of them the flyer about the organization.

The Neteuri Karta guy with hate in his eyes ripped up the flyer in front of the disabled person (The person was mentally disabled, not in a wheelchair) but it was quite obvious to anyone they were mentally disabled.

A good person does not take something from a disabled person and rip it up full of hate in front of that person. Who was obviously oblivious why this rasha was tearing up his flyer about the disabled organization

Its not just the money, Its very dangerous to go through garbage, Its not all rotten vegetibles, There are sharp objects, splinters, Really heavy stuff poisonus stuff like human waste or poison ivy or other poisons people just throw out. You also have to have people who know how to operate a cat machine, I doubt the garbage company allowed them to use their workers to operate the cats.

Serious question, Obviously Tfillin is Holy, but how much time and money is this search worth

Lets say $100,000 is spent on this endevor (They are looking for temp workers). Is it such a good use of limited funds on this

They have to search in Rochester so they will have to put people up at least one night in a hotel and get them to Rochester, so even if people volunteer its not free.

As important as the Tfillin are, couldnt they have decided to use the funds on something else?

I hear your sincerity but I find this post painful to read

The first year there was enthusiasm, and it waned last year and there seemed to be very little this year.

Someone I know from South Africa explained to me that in South Africa even if you arent religious you have a connection to the jewish community, however that doesnt exist in the US so while a large Challah baking will get alot of people involved in South Africa , very few non religious jews would get involved in the US

When giving advice about yiddishkeit to a stranger, Some advice will bring them close to yiddishkeit and others will push them away. While quoting gedolim is meritorious, quoting the wrong gadol to the wrong person can be harmful

Its best to allow some things and really band the dangerous things like pot

Its not clear to me if you are looking to go to Seminary in Israel or the states. I dont think there are that many seminaries in the US that have dorms. Thats more of an Israel thing (And in Gateshead , UK)

As far as as person associated with another religion, We actually know very little about him, We are not even sure he actually existed. The gospels even given conflicting accounts of his life so there is no way to know exactly what he did.

All we do know for sure is that it began to take off when someone named Saul of tarsus(Aposle Paul) took upon his mantle his story and basically formed the religion

Xtian or Xmas is no better than Christian or Christmas

The X in Xmas is actually the Greek letter Kai which looks like an X which comes from the shortening of our lord and savior. So you are not being frummer by saying Xmas instead of Christmas. If you dont want to mention the holiday, just say December 25. Everyone will get it

If you are going to be part of the More Chassidish or Yeshivish communities then you will have to give up the TV. If you are going to be part of the more modern communities, you will not have to give up the TV

No insurance company wants to insure a Frum family with 7 Kids. Dont think you will be so safe

A major jewish organization that gave health benefits to its employees severly cut back its health care plan because too many of their employees were taking the coverage and the agency was spending thousands of Tzdekah funds paying for health care for employees rather than using the funds towards the Tzdekah

Israel has single payer called Kupat Cholim, Of course there are times someone needs to leave the country for medical care (There are about as many people in Israel as in NYC alone) so its easier to have better doctors here. I wonder what people in Israel prefer Kupat Cholim or the US healthcare system

I am not an expert in kashruth, but it has something to do with the ice cream being cold as opposed to being hot. Since its cold you can rely on the scouper being washing (Or something like that) If the Ice cream was hot, The Taam somehow gets into the Metal which it does not when its cold
