Kastner was no Zionist, He was a traitor and an opportunist which is why I did not bring him up in regards to the Satmar Rebbe, he only saved the Satmar rebbe because “His train” had only his friends and family and some associates and none of them were relgious, It was more of a crony train, He got alot of flack for this and allowed some frum yidden on the train including the Satmar rebbe.

I did see yesterday one of the Rabbis in the video, however in light of all the negative publicity recently I did not feel it proper to ask him about it

since the Zionists ignored many opportunities to save Jews while the Holocaust was happening

The Holocaust was well known by the anti-zionist leaders of religious Hungarian jewery and they did nothing , they told their followers nothing and did not encourage them to do anything (The Holocaust in Hungary did not begin until 1944 when the attrocoites of Auscwitz was known)

Probably the main reason there are less dropouts from more Charedi communties as opposed to MO communities is because its just harder to leave.

Its not so easy to leave if you cant speak english properly , lack secular education and dont know social norms for the outside world.

The latest genere of OTD books are not from people of MO backrounds, but of former chassidim

This is not advice as much as a question–why does someone go off the derech, except for some dissatisfaction with Yiddishkeit

In general there is a decline in religious belifs in modern society and it affects all relgions not just judaism. The fastest growing religion in the US is no religion.

There was a widely reported incident yesterday

A hesder yeshiva guy bumped into a chraedi yeshiva guy in Bet Shemesh and they began to talk, The Yeshiva guy asked if the Hesder guy recognized the protection of the learning does for the state, The hesder guy said he would, but then he asked the yeshiva guy if he recognized the protection the army does for the state (and the yeshivas) . The yeshiva guy walked away.

I have plenty of Charedi relatives and they say things like there is no difference between the catholic church and the Kennesset. Many disparaging things here have been said about Rav Kook.

When the whole country shuts down to respect the dead, the chreadim continue going on like nothing is happening.

In fact there is a post on the news area about the Israeli Flag flying at Ponovich like it does every Yom Haatzmaut and of course there is a negative comment about it.

ZD: As (I think) Rabbi Galinsky replied to this very observation, they ARE on the front lines – in a different regiment. Their contribution, input to the war / security effort? PRICELESS!! How many korbonos did they protect, safeguard, avoid? Do you know??? How many disasters did they cause to be averted??? Do you know??? Yes, the bnei Yeshivos ARE contributing.. to a different effort, area!! No, you (and no one) wants to risk doing away with that.

How much security did the yeshivas provide against the Nazis. Yes learning is important, but so is also fighting for your right to exist with a gun. Sometimes you have to learn and other times you have to fight.

Rav Yaakov Kammentzky then said that Hashem doesnt need the Satmar Rebbe’s permission to do a miracle

There are many many halachos about how to tell Loshon Horo which is ltoieles, and “Wall of Shame” is definitely not something the Chofetz Chaim would have approved of. Let that statement suffice.

The Chofetz Chaim would not have approved of abusers either

You can make one yourself, Hebrew Books.org was just started because someone saw a need.

It probably wouldnt be that difficult as its not a spoken language and you dont need to figure out things like idiomatic expressions , indirect references and other hints and indirect references that a speaker knows, but a computer cannot figure out unless its told directly

I don’t see the justification for following the leniency. “He is reliable” isn’t enough

If Rav Oelbaum, Rav Steinberg or Rav Nevensaul muttar it, they are reliable (Like I said I dont think Rabbi Mizrachi was endorsing the product)

I am going to find out if they really endorse the product of its just fancy video editing (At least one of the people on the video I belive did not endorse the product and was just there via video editing)

This switch blocks something. (If you watch the video) the plastic does nothing except cover something from going across. but the item is still going. That is basically how the Shabbos lamp works, you are blocking something

I saw the video for the switch and it seemed to be working similar to the Kosher Lamp.

Either they have Rabbi Oelbaums endorsement or they is using video editing to make it seem like he is endorsing it.

If one had a Minhag to have a baby sleep in a Draw (instead of a basinet or Crib) should you keep that Minhag

Some have Minhag not to use Buttons and use draw strings for shirts, Should one abandon that minhag?

People dont report people unless they know the victims directly.

While it may be true that in NJ everyone is a mandated reporter, you really would have to know specific information like a doctor for example who sees welts and bruises on a kid. Or a teach who sees similar marks.

Also emaciated kids is another sign the kid might have been abused.

You just dont report someone for being an abusder, you need intimate knowledge

There are Anglo names that are also Jewish names

IE Molly , Isodore (Izzy) , Wolf

Besides most peoples last names are jewish even if they are anglosized. Goldstein or Steinberg might be anglosized, but they are clearly jewish.

Someone with the name Christina Goldstein would clearly make you think they might be jewish (or at least have jewish blood in them)

But if I was your Posek, I would say you must also have a blacklist filter to stop you being ????. And you should use Adblock, etc., to “Kosher” the

You are not my posek , nor anyone else’s posek for that matter, You cannot make blanket statements on halacha from the internet.

You have no idea what I do exactly for parnassah (except it has to do with commerce on in the internet) you cannot make any statements about adblock. No I dont go to Prizus sites, but I defiantrly need access to sites like youtube and technical forums where people ask and discuss technical questions. No way to white list sites if I dont know what they are

You missed my point then, In life we can only fight so many battles. We do need to pick and choose which ones to fight. Choosing to fight all battles means we will be tapped out and lose energy . There is not unlimited energy and resources to fight every battle.

Around the time of the Asifa, this website and another one like this who are well known in the frum velt came up by name and I heard from more than one Rav, about it.

Not that is any of your business, but I make my parnassah from the internet and smart phones. I am constantly in need of looking up stuff to see if I should buy or sell and need to answer questions. If you are willing to take over my income then we can talk. And I do have close family members who are poseks and they know exactly what I do for a living and they have no problem with it.

It was an insane comparison, its easy to get a smoke detector and it saves lives. And if you dont want a smoke dector, then dont get one. And if your house burns down and people die because they didnt know about the fire, dont blame anyone but yourself.

And if you are so against smart phones, why are you here? I have heard specifically from some poskim not to visit this very website (they have mentioned it by name).

I am saying its best to put your efforts in battles that you will either win a real victory or a moral victory.

IE for example A decree was that there would be no more get witholding agunahs for money and it was publically declared that anyone witholding a get creating Agunahs for 5-10 years will be punished. Even if the battle fails There will still be a moral victory.

However one could protest CHilul Shabbos ie and not only not get people to stop chilul Shabbos, but they will get hostile and perhaps declare war on you. How many people have become Shomer Shabbos because people yelled at them driving?

A Bochur once wanted to go to a mixed (seating) wedding of a relative, and asked permission from R’ Leib Lopian zt”l. R’ Leib asked him how he could go to such a place? He replied that he was going to sit separately with a sefer, and he ‘wouldn’t look’. R’ Leib smiled at him sadly: “I’m 80 years old and blind in one eye, yet I am scared every time a walk in the streets that I’ll see something I shouldn’t. You are 20, young and impressionable, and you are going to walk into a matzav of nisayon like that?”

There was a story of I think Rav Moshe, (It was an american Gadol from that time period, so I could be mistaken, but it was a well known Gadol). He was at some dinner honoring a big baal chesed. One of his talmidim came up to him and asked. “Rebbe , how can you attend an affair with mixed seating” . Rav Moshe (or whomever it was) said. The Honoree was a big Baal Chessed and warranted the Kavod of him attending the dinner honoring this person. Rav Moshe then sat next to his Rebbitzen.
