mummy613: i wish you luck with your kids if u think that a boy once he has been opened to something new and exciting will “own up if he ever had any ta’ava to put even one video on it”.- i’m not saying not to trust your kids but if a rosh yeshiva wouldn’t put himself in that situation with a nisayon i’m not sure how u can put a 13 year old into it.. – all i can say is GOOD LUCK!

There’s a very clear difference between being flirtatious and making customers feel comfortable. A nice hello and have a nice day does the job very well and doesn’t need any more than that if the worker is a man and the person doing the shopping is the woman. I’d find it really annoying if i had to go to another shop further away just because there was a man who didn’t know how to keep his distance.

Personally what i would do is either write a letter myself or tell my husband to write a letter to this man and tell him if he’s not careful how he acts towards women who come to the shop we will ensure that the manager/a rav finds out – if the manager finds out he could get fired, and if a rav gets involved it could cause them problems and hopefully that might deter him. If that doesn’t then i would go to a rav and ask him what to do.

p.s. not sure why you bothered starting this thread because it seems from the beginning that you were going to get the ipad because almost everyone on here suggested against it and you still got it…

mommy613 – after all the rabbanim have said against internet, computers etc etc why would u give a 13 year old possible access to anything he wants??? i don’t know what this boy is like but if he’s determined enough he can easily break through the code – a 4 digit code is nothing! and all these gadgets waste so much time, so yes he can learn on the go with an italmud – but like peerimsameach said – they are yeshiva bochurim with an ipad and they hardly touch the talmud – unfortunately the outside world is a lot more tempting than the talmud at that age.

YM Moderator – i don’t remember which one – but the one that wrote about logmein – that wouldn’t work because when you log in remotely, the computer comes up with a sign that says this computer is being controlled remotely..but we’v definitely had some fun in computer lessons for example using autocorrect, we set the computer to autocorrect “i” to “i stink” or something like that on a few computers and most people for some reason don’t realise that it could be something as simple as autocorrect that was making the computer do that and it was really amusing watching them try and type out their work…….

Squeak and mod – u missed out the best grodz = the stamford hill one – its way better than the gg and edgware one – and actually the gg grodz is not the same owners as the one in stamford hill and edgware – if u look at their shop signs – stamford hill and edgware is called Grodzinski and Daughters and the GG one is just called Grodzinski’s – and there is a definitely a difference in the stuff they make – its not as good as the original Grodzinski and daughters..

NY mom – the white wholewheat flour – is it as healthy as the brown wholewheat flour and where do u get it from i’ve never seen it before..

Ok Yoheved so stop buying any products made in any countries who deal badly with jews – i think you should stop using your car because the gas comes from the arabs, its time to boycott them and show them who’s boss. Unfortunately we live in a world where we are not liked – our position is just to daven that we should not be harmed by them not to publicly start trying to defend our “rights”. You’re right that we should think of these poor mothers, i cant imagine to think what they’ve gone through – but i think your idea of davening for them at candle lighting would be a lot more effective.

A relative of mine had very high cholesterol which was strange as she’s really thin, does a lot of exercise, cooks with little oil, stays away from fatty products, drinks low fat milk – basically stays away from anything fatty etc etc and the doctors told her that she has the high cholesterol because its genetic. She didn’t want to take any medication so she looked up in the Rambam’s Sefer what he says about high cholesterol and i don’t know the exact details of what he said but she followed everything he said you should/shouldnt eat and her cholesterol level went right down and is now more on the low side then on the high side. If anyone is interested in exactly what the Rambam says to do just ask and i’ll find out.

I see a general denominator that people are always saying how he should treat me, how i should be answered, how i should be spoken to. I’m saying from a girl’s point of view – i don’t think most men try to be insensitive, they just have a very different nature to girls and when going into a relationship with a man, yes, you will have differences and you may find at times that they are not as sensitive as they should be, or even downright insensitive, but that’s where you have to work on yourself and explain in a nice way that its not the way to act and in most cases – the men haven’t even realise that they’ve done anything wrong.

If all men would act the same as women – how would we work on ourselves, and vice versa. Hashem created both genders in way that they’re not the same and that’s how we work on our middos and become better people.

I’m not saying that you don’t get the guys who aren’t interested in trying to become better and understand women better, but a guy before he’s married – how should he be sensitive to a girl’s needs – and if he is – he’s probably had too much to do with girls before he got married.

omg that shiur from rabbi keleman is unbelievable..i listened to it about a year ago and for the entire 1hr and 17 minutes i was GLUED!!!!anyone who hasnt listened to it yet just has to listen!!!!!!and rabbi wallerstein’s shiurim are amazing!! i don’t usually have os much time during the year to listen, but nearer to rosh hashana, y’k time i make more of an effort to listen and his shiurim make such a difference, and the thing i love about his shiurim most is that they’re relevant to everyone however frum or not frum a person is and whatever level you’re holding at you’ll find something relevant to you in his shiurim. definitely recommended!!!

well actually oomis her mother is very happy for her because that’s the way she was brought up to live and bh her mother is shepping nachos seeing her live like that. in response to chain who obviously didn’t live like that, yes its hard to watch and i can feel her pain as i wasn’t brought up like that either, but like BMW says – u cant make everyone happy all the time.

Mod 80 – thanks for that! so true! i know people living in israel who just about have enough money to feed their kids. One week i gave them back some money i owed them – a total of 25 shekel – and she says to me, ah perfect now i have money to buy my fish for shabbos! i personally couldn’t live like that – but she’s the happiest person, she has a job, her husband is a cheder teacher, ba’h they have 9 kids – and guess what – you would never see her or her husband without a smile on their faces – they are one of the happiest people i know! and do you know what – so are their kids – and that’s th biggest proof of it all! so yes, sometimes we cant fathom how these people live, but they do and they love it and wouldn’t want it any other way.

i like that aries..exactly…there’s nothing wrong with enjoying yourself, people need an outlet sometimes..people who don’t have outlets or who aren’t allowed to have outlets end up burnt out and depressed. but like everything – in moderation.

Avraham Fried and Shwekey definitely sing in the most heartfelt way – i love Avraham Fried’s singles choshev alechem and aleh katan, and i love most of Shwekey’s slow songs especially eishes chayil from one of the recent albums, whoever liked eternity from the oorah CD i’m with you all the way i love that song! for anyone who likes israeli music Chaim Yisrael has some beautiful songs which mean so much more if you actually understand the words like Ach Sheli, Akevot Bachol, Mah chashuv hayom, and bat shel melech. Baruch Levine is also quite high up there with Ki Hu and a few of his other slow songs.

Yes i walked down to it at my wedding and it was absolutely beautiful, we just changed the words to i think mi von siach and everyone commented on how beautiful it sounded, and like ladybug said Baruch Levine’s chi hu is also a stunning song and goes very well to the words of mi adir and i had that at my chupa too as i was walking around 7 times and then for im eshkachech we used MBD’s song – i cant remember properly but i think it was called Veaz yihyu – also a beautiful song

Hi does anyone have any good recipes for wholewheat bread/bagels/challahs or just anything wholemeal as we’re trying to stop eating white bread and eat wholemeal as its much more filling and has way less calories..i have a bread machine so if anyone has any good bread machine recipes those would also be much appreciated..

ps. yanksdownunder – my mum was suffering from digestion problems and she got the rambam’s sefer and follows all the things he says u shud/shouldnt eat and also what food combinations to have and since then she hasnt had the problems. the rambam was the master doctor in all these sort of things so anyone who can understand the rambam’s sefer it’s probably the best health food book.
