There was always a ting of Anti Semitim in the classics, take for example Mark Twain and concerning the Jews, that piece can be interpreted both ways.

@AAQ, in spite of you trying frame every thread into a halacha – hashkafa arguement this is neither, there are 3 parts of this equation.

    1. Flying on an airline owned by the Nazi party, Lufthansa was owned by the Nazi party and was active in the war efforts, the lack of sensitivity displayed by the 127 passengers on the flight is appalling, if @avira’s father an American born MO yid has the sensitivity not buy or rent German cars, children & grandchildren of survivors who have the sensitivity not to fly and airline owned by the Nazis, there are over 60 other airlines flying to that general area.

    2. Lack of mask compliance, As a visibly frum Jew who works in corporate America and having worked under an openly anti semtic boss, I am very cognitive that my personal behavior gets reflected to Jews as a whole and I do my utmost to follow the rule to the T, that being said having flow a dozen time since the outbreak of Corna [you have yet to set foot on a plane] I can tell you that the vast majority of the flight crews prowl the aisles looking to pounce of someone who is not mask compliance. The majority of the airlines are mask free, the yidden who had an issue with mask should have flow on a mask free airline.

    3. Group punishment, make everyone pay for the mistakes of a few, that may work in a army boot camp but it does not work in the free market, the airline know they goofed and said so.

@AAQ, I find it ironic that someone who always manages to twist any discussion on how it relates to the Jews lecture me for “you seem to see the world only as they relate to Jews”

@amil, well if its usual then it not unusual, for example real estate or amazon sellers in very common, seeing a pilot with a yarmulke is not, being a member of the IDF is fairly common being a member of the US Marines is not.

@AAQ, Unlike you I met and spoke to Rav Miller and he was very outspoken of his dislike of Germany.
This episode has nothing to do as to where they were going to or the lack of compliance with rules by a few and everything to do tarring everyone on the flight with a broad brush, hopefully people will stop flying Nazi Air.

PS do me a favor, half the time you use a CH and half the time you use a H, please stick to one

@AAQ, “Common, you seem to see the world only as they relate to Jews.” Actually, unlike you I tend to take a global view and not narrow focus of how it relates to the Jews “This seems to contradict r Miller “, If you know the first thing Rav Miller [and I doubt you do], he despised the Germans with a passion.

@AAQ: “If you want to boycott someone, just focus on current perpetrators” Sorry but 2 out of 3 counties mentioned here was never a history of governmental systemwide anti semitism, in fact Mir spent the war years in Shanghai and quite a number of refugees made it to Cuba.

I don’t boycott based on where the company is based, I do so based on their relationship with the 3rd Reich. For example Hugo Boss was a Nazi member and his factory used forced Jewish slave labor to make Nazi uniforms, VW/ Audi/ BWM used forced Jewish labor to build trucks the brought Jews to the camps, Bayer and Audi manufactured Zykoln B, Braun produced the electrical parts that ran the SS Tanks, and Lufthansa was owned by the Nazi party.

If a group of yidden on the way to Krersir feel compelled to fly on a airline owned by the Nazi party and get stuck along the way I feel scant sympathy for them.

@nisht, the question that he asked was being a plastic surgeon mutter as a parnosa, my answer to him was that the bulk of the plastic surgeon’s case load is reconstructive surgery post trauma, certainly a laudable profession, if you want to start a new thread about the merits of plastic surgery or lack thereof please go ahead.

@AAQ, Lets say half were and half were not compliant, therefore you ban every Jews on the flight? try doing that with any other ethnic group.
Actually there are tons of other choices besides Lufthansa, there are 4 other airports within 3 hour of Kristier, there are 42 other airlines serving Budapest including base for Wizz with 55 destinations and Ryanair with 50 destinations.

Actaly when I flew to Poland I flew AA to Dublin and Ryanair to Poland.

As reported on the YWN, a bunch of frum people who were flying NYC-FRA-BUD on Lufthansa were denied boarding on the Frankfort-Budapest leg of the flight because of a few yidden who were not mask compliant, even the majority had just purchased separate tickets and had nothing to do with one another.
Thank you, Lufthansa for reminding me why I never fly of them.

@AAQ, exactly my point, one of my friends went to a med school interview in the 1980s with a yarmulke and non frum Jewish doctors were the ones who gave him a hassle, fast forward to 2022 and you have a ton of frum doctors who proudly walk the hospital corridors not ashamed to show they are Jewish.
Most of the frum female MDs waited till after med school to focus on marriage or focused on specializes such as allergies, dermatology or plastic surgery that didn’t require insane rotations during residency.
