one cannot shrug off the aforementioned Chazal as being for a different era

    What if we’re too spoiled?

Even the roshei yeshiva pushing for 21 (which are not all RY) aren’t saying 18. Are they all shrugging off Chazal?

The feature is there as a wetness indicator to tell him if he’s wet. Also as a side it gives him the will to stay dry as he doesn’t want the picture to fade.

The first might be considered nicha lei, the second wouldn’t be.

Meno, there is koseiv and mochek on pictures.

Yidden got married not long after their Bar/Bas Mitzvah. No one is suggesting we go back to that age marriage

    Why not?

At what cost you ask. Maybe at a cost of less heartache for all the young people, their parents, and family who are stranded in the shidduch crisis.

That’s not cost, that’s benefit. You say it outweighs the cost? Fine, valid opinion, but acknowledge the cost.

I know young men who are unbelievably immature at a time when other young men are already husbands and fathers.

Marriage matures. Agreed, but isn’t there a minimum starting maturity needed?

If the expectations change, the people will change with them.

Again, agreed, but would you say if the expectation was to marry at 14 years old, they would be mature at 14?

You also never addressed the years of lost learning.

    Why is that feature there?

You need to ask a real posek, not the CR, but off the top of my head, it’s ??? ?????, and if it’s ?? ???? ??? (which is why I asked the purpose of it fading) it shouldn’t be a problem. It’s a big if, though.

Takahmamash, she seems to be saying that being chareidi, as opposed to other forms of frumkeit (sorry, gavra, but I will continue to use the term which 99% of us use) is merely external, which shows an unfair bias.

Of course, I don’t know the person or context in which it was said, so I’m open to explanation that that is not what was meant.

    Barry, no problem.

Squeak, we can be considered not only as creation to Creator, but also as children to Father, subjects/servants to King, and even ???? ??? ?????, whatever that means. We also find the ???? of ??? ???? as a description of the relationship between HKB”H and klal Yisroel.

I don’t know why you dismiss the notion of relationship. Of course it’s very different than human to human relationships, but Chazal did use human relationships as a moshol.

You want the girls to get married younger, which would increase the gap. If the boys get married younger, the girls getting married younger will keep the gap the same.

The question as far as boys getting married younger is, at what cost? Will they lose years of learning, and will they be prepared for marriage?

The girls also learn Torah sheba’al peh as necessary, just not Mishnayos and Gemara.

Satmar doesn’t allow the girls to learn any Torah shba’al peh, except (I assume) halachah.

Squeak, yes it was amateurish. Couldn’t they have at least had it printed instead of hand written?

He did give a number of excess girls, besides a percentage, so I don’t understand that complaint.

I agree that the other factors weren’t accounted for, but it’s really, really hard to believe that they play a major role.

    Barry,

I don’t think you understand what I said.

    Gavra,

Yes, I know you have your meshugas about the term “frum”, but most people simply use it to refer to shomer Torah umitzvos.

“Frum is the relationship one has with God. Chareidi is how you present yourself to the rest of the world.” Quoted from a friend of mine.

Frum could also be completely external, and chareidi could be one’s relationship with HKB”H. If you friend doesn’t agree, he’s a bigot.

Nevertheless, the customer spent time in the store to choose a product based on the posted pricing

True, and that’s unfair, but it’s not quite as bad as if the sale was advertised outside of the store.

I still think it’s important to know whether it was intentional or not. Either way, the salesperson acted like a jerk.

the false advertising is worse and is geneivas daas by stealing the potential customer’s time, causing him to come into the store under false pretenses

heres another one: saying elokeinu velokei avoseinu (duchan replacement) on fast days during mincha when mincha is davened early in the day. the rama and mishana brura explicitly follow the mechaber not to say it yet everyone does. why?

That is incorrect. They do not explicitly say not to say it when davening early Minchah.

See Chazon Ish O.C. 20 for the reason:
