It’s not only me they don’t hug it’s my younger siblings too…and I know it’s because they think it’s gross… Like I said, they think it’s funny that I hug my friends but I think my friends know more about me than my parents do and that’s why I let my friends set me up with a guy instead of my parents…my parents don’t know what I’m like and don’t know which kind of boy I wanted.

My parents never tell me they love me and neither do they hug me or whatever…they think I’m weird for hugging my friends…I feel weird telling them I love them too but when they make supper or something I tell them thank you…It comes automatic…I just don’t feel close to them or my siblings…

I was in the same boat as you. I was considered the “bad girl” in my school until my mom found out (or so she thought). She found out and instead of her treating me like a human being, she just put me down and yelled at me. Did it help? NO. Did it make me worse? YES! I was outside on the streets till late and I didn’t care… Lucky for me, one of the guys I bumped into came from a traditional family and with his help, I became a “better” girl. We both helped each other get out of it. He never used to go to shul or go learn and now he goes to shul almost every day to pray and learn. After 3 years, I’m finally engaged to him 😉 Can this have ended up much worse? Yes. I was very lucky to meet him and I stopped talking to all the other guys I spoke to (even if it took a year.)

Was it wrong to snitch on you? Definitely. But you can’t change the past (my mom treated me bad too. In fact, she was encouraging my school to do the same. Eventually she thought I stopped even though I really didn’t.) Hopefully you can continue going in the right path. I agree with mikehall about getting in touch with Rabbi Wallerstein.

It was discussed so many times. He said he’d rather I wear a tichel because he says the reason of covering hair is so that ppl should know ur married, but with todays wigs, he can’t tell the difference if someone is covering her hair or not. I told him I told like tichels so he said (in an upset tone) if I wanna wear a wig I can. It’s not a normal thing to break a shidduch for such a silly thing. We’ve been together for 3 years; I can’t just say goodbye because of a tichel.

Does Ovadia Yosef allow a sheitel covered with a hat? Meaning the sheitel is sticking out

mamashtakah – My friend did through Adelphi University. Reb. Bulka made her seminary be another branch of the college and it’s all frum bais yaackov type of girls. It’s seminary and you get your BA in a year. She has a program for O.T, Speech, and Social Work

I worked hard in high school so I can get into a good college- not seminary. 9th grade was hardest because meeting new friends, diff school etc.

I heard my high school that I was in just put up video cameras in all the classes….even the bathroom so girls shouldn’t stand and talk there.

My friend went to an accelerated program for social work. She did her bachelor’s in a year and then did her master’s in I think 2 years. Accelerated programs are very pricy though. She did it through Reb. Bulka’s program in Flatbush. Do you have any college credits?

Don’t make us sound so mean…

I was at the beach yesterday and I parked my car near Toys R Us without knowing that I can’t park there… There were a few Jewish men who were there and after a few minutes they came to me and asked me if I parked my car near Toys R Us because they heard that someone tows them away… These boys said they come to that beach every day just to tell the Jewish people there about the guys who tow the cars…I was very impressed. (BTW b4 anyone starts discussing the beach, I’ll just say it’s not really a beach- its just a place to stand there. Ppl don’t swim there so these boys weren’t doing anything wrong…)

Those special shampoos DO NOT help!

Use vaseline and cover it with a bag for overnight…it’s gross but it really helps! And the next day use dishwashing soap to take out the oilyness (I know that’s not a word…)
