    ANYTHING can be used badly

Should we assur cars because they can kill someone or be driven on Shabbos and it can be addicting to drive.

Seriosuly from what I know about gatesheads, its very dreary and drab there especially in the morning (Ive only been to London , not Newcastle) and I can see that affecting someone in the morning

The real picture of the Choftez Chaim appears in the top line of YWN.

There is an entire book of photographs of Gedolim, I think it took the author 10 years or so to do it

    Actually its harder now-adays.

In the old days, you prepared all your own food, today most things are processed.

Also in the olden days people ate simpler, You ate a potato and you were happy. Todays kids cant go 2 days without eating some Pizza or cereal

I know a few people who went OTD and most of them seemed to celebrate Purim.

Dressing up, eating Hamentashem and getting drunk dont seem to be objectionable to them

THE NOTORIOUS king Louis WHO USED it as his coat of arms.

When you discuss “Notorious” King Louis of France, either Louis XIV who build Versailles and was the longest reigning monarch in wesern history or Louis XVI who was beheaded during the french revolution, Neither had much to do with jews (Although jews were allowed back in France in 1789)

Nobody should be dressing up this way.

There was a parade in Broad Channel a few years ago where one of the Floats was “Hassidic Park”. What if Al Sharpton decided to dress up for halloween as a Hassid in “Jewface”

this is what you are worried about when all the newspapers are busy writing about one of our elected officials who dressed up in BLACKFACE. we look pretty bad based on what he did. hopefully there will not be any repercussions

Ive seen other people dress up this way (not famous people, just people in the street whom I did not know) Just saw the costumes

In the Chofetz Chaims time taking a picture was a big deal, people would dress up and go to the photograher. Video was even a bigger deal.

Today its nothing, almost everyone has a camera / video camera in their pocket and it costs nothing to show it as you dont have to develop it

Of course it tastes better, but when there are 8 kids including some big hungry teenagers and 2 adults, thats alot of Matza. People spend over $1000 on Matza along. Cutting those costs in half can mean alot to alot of people.

At least in the US except for maybe Williamsburg and Kiryat Joel, there is no monolithic community. Even in Borough Park there are many types of Chassidim and Yeshivish people. Certainly in Flatbush and elsewhere.

The term “community standards” would not apply and Im not even sure it would in Williamsburg either as I think there are others who live there as well.

I see more and more people only eating the Hand Made Shumrah for the entire 8 days. That stuff is at least $10 a Lbs

you only need to eat Shumrah for the Sedar, its a chumra otherwise, but even if you want to eat Shumra the entire pesach, there is machine shumra which at least 1/2 the price and it can be used for the Seder too.

Sometimes in life you pick your battles

Most people arent dressing up as a knight. Most either dress up as something from the Megilla or a Pop Culture icon Like Superman, power Rangers or disney princess, these costumes appeal to very few people.

If you are going to say there is a cross, why not ban the Greek Cross , otherwise known as the Plus Sign or the St Andrews Cross otherwise known as an “X”

Reread the story before this goes off topic. It did not mention heating food.

    @torah613

When you work in an enviornment with non-jews and non religious jews, you have to be very careful not only how you act and speak , but also how you respect others. I am not saying this from a Halachic point of view, but from someone who has usually (but not always) worked with non-relgious and non jews.

You will meet all kinds of people and some do things you dont like, or even against he torah. Dont preach unless the person wants you too. An unwanted rebuke does more harm than good. A simple example is a co-worker is a toeivah jew.

If you cannot work in such an enviroment, it might be best to look elesewhere

ZD, no they’re not putting in pig’s milk on the farm. I am no nearly as confident that they don’t switch to non CY milk, though.

Chalav Stam is not trief like Pigs Milk

BTW I think on of the reasons regular Milk is ok, is because its not Chalav Akum, but rather Chalov Machine.

I dont think even in Chalav Yisroel does a jew milk the cow, Its probably the same machine in the same dairy farm (Likely a special run where someone just watches the process)

ZD, it is indeed unlikely that milk from any other animal is mixed in. The issue, though, revolves around understanding the nature of the gezeiras Chaza”l, which still applies despite the stated reason no longer applying.

People here arent debating if their Rav says the Gezera applies or not, they are giving scare tactics about Dunkin Donuts mixing milk or milking a pig on a dairy farm.

yehudayona – While in Saudi Arabia and other countries they do. I remember reading about this Frum chaplain that almost added the milk -thinking it was Cow’s milk to his coffee. In the nick of time he found out that it’s camel’s milk, but they pass it off as cow’s milk – so the american soldiers will drink it.

Thats was Saudi Arabia, not the United States, its not clear to me If you can drink Chalov Stam anywhere else except the US and Canada. I havent even gotten a straight answer about it in Western Europe (England for example)

You need to go to a Dairy farm and see how cows are actually milked. You will realize its almost impossible for anyone to mix milks there.

It isnt like the worker in Dunkin Donuts switching milk containers.

You must think that a milk maid sits under the cow and milks it, If that was done then it would be possible to mix it up. But thats not how its done.

You cant lie and hide something, there is no easy way to put anything in it. The Milk is basically unexposed to the air until you pour it out of the Milk Carton. Its all done by machine.

A Machine Milks the cows, The Milk is put in a large vat where its pasterized and Homegized. The milk is then pumped into a large truck (That looks like an oil truck) and trucked to the packaging factory, The milk is then pumped out of the truck into the packaging machine where the milk is poured into the Milk Cartons,

    sydeals

You probably have never seen a Milk farm before. You actually cannot easily mix pigs and cows milk there.

Nobody milks cows by hand anymore, they heard the cows into a milking barn , attach some apparatus to the utters and some machines milks like 10-15 cows at once. Technically its not Chalov Yisrol or Chalov ASkum, Its Chalov Machine.

The milking apparatus only fits a cow utter, it doesnt fit a pigs utters (Or any other animal) . Its all automated today

Charaidim don’t consider themselves “citizens” of Israel. Most of them (even those who take money) would be just as happy if the Arabs took over, as long as there would not be a subsequent massacre.

I think most chardim even in the US would prefer to live in a place where there was overt Anti-Semitism and discrimination as long as nobody was killed.

The First Lubavicher Rebbe when Napoleon was conquering the Europe started to give the jews freedom and liberty. The Alter Rebbe went against Napoleon (and was jailed and had to flee) because he felt freedom and liberty was bad for the jews.

Its not excactly 19 years because of Secular Leap Days.

Also the Jewish Calender is slightly off.

The Earth Revolved around the Sun in 365 Days 5 Hours 49 Mins

The Jewish Calender assumes the Rotation is 365 Days 5 Hours 55 Mins.

Which adds about 5 Mins to every year , Over 1700 years its about a week off

“Mammele” who said “Williamsburg fanatics out to convert the world.” — NO, they wish to be left alone. They don’t insist that that men wear long pants or that women conceal the “cleavage” – they only don’t want to look at it. The only hasidic group that is out to “convert” anybody is Chabad and maybe Breslov (the ones with the dead rebbes).

Is the line drawn at a woman wearing a Sheital , A hat, Long sleeves, , A skirt down to the floor, , stockings and flats

Or is it of for a woman (who is not religious) to wear moms Jeans, a short sleeve shirt (not a tank top) and normal hair
