It just has to do with the fact that the whole shidduch system is not a good system for me right now for many reasons,

The problem with any one system is that it is not one size fits all. I know people who the more modern dating was a better system for them (Like people from more modern backround with not such yichus) and I know others where the more traditional Shidduch system was better as they dont appear as good on first meeting than they really are

A elector who votes for someone besides whom the state voted for is called a Faithless elector.

In about half the states its legal to be a faithless elector and the other half its not. Faithless electors are allowed in NY but not allowed in Florida or California. if you are a faithless elector in those states there is a punishment

Many Askanim bent over backwards to meet with Christine Quinn the former NYC council speaker and some even endorsed her for mayor. Seems they didnt care about her personal life only what she could deliver

Someone always showed up late, People just quit after being sent home a few times.

I am glad I do not work at such a place. I dont think thats a good environment where the employer pits the employees against each other

The “Pro chickens People” are unwilling to admit that most of the chickens are simply thrown out after they are slaughtered.

They are also unwilling to admit that the feces of the chicken are a sanitary issue, that is why its illegal to slaughter animals in NYC and even to own farm animals because of the waste. The blood that comes out after its slaughtered is also a sanitary issue (However when I see Kapparot with Shechta I did not see any blood) but I did see the feces which is an issue.

If you are so gung ho on doing this, go to a slaughter house somewhere outside the city. It might be a Minhag Yisroel to do so, but there is no right to slaughter a chicken in the middle of Borough Park. The Slaughter house has proper facilities to handle the waste and will make sure the chickens go to the proper use. (There are some Muslim Slaughter houses in the city, but those are permannt places that will handle the waste, If either Kapporots could be done at those locations by renting them for a week or so or someone opens their own kosher slaughterhouse in NYC that would solve these problems)

Yes the shecht the chicken after you do Kapport and then throw it into a garbage can with a bunch of other dead chickens and at the end of the day they are supposed to be hauled to a processing center, however because the chickens are not somehow kept cooler before being hauled off, they spoil and become unusable

Communiting from Monsey can take a while to almost anywhere outside of Rockland, Commuting from Kiyat Joel takes even longer.

I know quite a few people who commute to Manhattan or Brooklyn from Lakewood

What makes you think the learning people are more serious than the workers?

Do you think its so easy to get up at 5am for Daf yomi, then daven at 6am and then leave for work to be there at 9am

Why do people who learn have more time than people who work?

If you learn you can come in 9, 9:10 , 9:30 or whatever. Saying you were late because of Davening is acceptable

    However if you work

You need to be there at 9, some places will write you up or fire you for being late. I heard of one place that had 15 employees and 12 desks and if you showed up late you didnt get a desk and had to go home and saying “I had to Pray” is no excuse, the boss doesnt care. Either pray earlier or pray faster or get a new job

If you let the slaughtered chickens last too long in the sun, then they are spoiled. A regular slaugher house processes the chickens fairly quckly while kaparot on the street does not.

The idea is to use the chickens to feed to poor, if they spoil they cannot be used for food

The case that I knew of, where they lived in the same house, did not have a “Happy ending”

after about a year and a half of the couple sleeping in seperate rooms, the kids started to take sides and began to take sides especially towards the mother as she was the one who slept in the living room. Shabbos was the worst as during the week usually one person could leave and not come back until coast was clear.

The woman began to go OTD (I am sure many will say “I told you so” ) as she blamed rabbis for the situtation and )Shabbos and Yom Tov were the worst days as they were more forced to be together) and she hired a lawyer (She said she was done having children and didnt care about the get anymore). She moved out and the kids spent their time at various parents homes. They both hired lawyers and now both are broke and the kids are messed up.

Nothing was gained, It would have been alot better for everyone if the get was just given and people moved on

I am sure there are some cases where a Beis Din will refuse to grant a get, however while the Beis din can theoritically force the wife to remain married to the husband, they cannot force her to cook for him, clean for him, sleep in the same room as him or even stay in the house with him.

I know of a couple who were going through a divorce and the woman remained in the house and slept on the couch and they didnt eat together. It was terrible for the kids to see that

The more someone resents the situation, the more they will hate you. Even if a spouse doesnt hate now, there is a good chance they will if you force the situation.

People shoot the messenger and not the message , probably have never been married or know someone in a similar situation where someone resents and resents more and more every day the situation

I am not going to comment on the Beis Din, However if you wife wants a Get and you dont want to give it to her so you stay married, that is not a good position to be in. Do you really want to live with someone who hates your guts?

You just dont become an askan to a Rav, Somehow he gets to know you and they get their trust.

It is a problem when the Askan does something wrong and the Gadol refuses to belive his beloved Askan would ever do such a thing

There was a story I heard about Rav Moshe and Rav Shlomo Zalman.

Rav Moshe made a Psak and Rav Shlomo Zalman disagreed. So Rav Moshe wrote to Rav Shlomo Zalman to ask why and he never got a respose.

Later Rav Moshe met Rav Shlomo Zalman and asked him why he never responded and he answered that he never saw the letter. it turned out an Askan had intercepted it and never forwaded it to Rav Shlomo Zalman

Do you really think Reb Chaim would waste his precious torah time to listen to the Radio? Its not like the news stories you are looking for come up immediately, you have to listen for it to come on, As 1010 wins says. you give us 22 mins , we give you the world. Do you really want Reb Chaim to spend 22 mins listening through commercials and other stuff he doesnt need to know (Like the latest celebrity scandal). No he has Askanim to listen and save his time against it

And Security guards arent a Joke, Ive actually seen that in Europe. In many countries you cannot go to shul unless you get permission before Shabbos (If they know you, it isnt a problem, but if they dont) It totally freaked me out

They’re not putting anyone in danger. They are causing a possible delay in the response to a potential danger which is extremely infrequent.

If someone is having a heart attack , every second counts, thats why many places now have difibulators onsite. ANd while its infrequent that things occur, it does happen enough to make a differnce. Most of us have been in shul at some time when Hatzolah needed to be called (or whatever they use in Israel)

You dont need internet at a shul to have e-mail. They could have e-mail and access it elsewhere, especially if its a Yahoo/Gmail/Hotmail type account as most of them are

    While you might see

    Miryeshiva @yahoo.com

    you likely wont see

    Info@ miryeshiva.edu (or .com)

(I do not know if any of these are real or not, they are for example only)

And even if you see miryeshiva. edu meaning they own the domain name, they might have a mail server set up to get the mail remotely

You should learn the halachos of teaching torah to a Non-Jew, and consult with a rav who knows these areas well.

Again with Rabbi Google and people reading the news, When you are asked about some topic (Usually its in relation to some news story) . Telling them “I am going to ask my Rabbi” doesnt really work in that circumstance

There are enough who dont get along and the ones who want to get along are many times shoved aside by the more extreme elements.

Do you really think most charedim belive you should spit on soliders? Of course not, but those who disagree are made to be kept quiet

in reply to: PBA has flown the coop #1184089

While there are problems in the MO community, there are certainly problems in the charedi community as well and one of them is the relationships with other people. Like it or not, the charedi community needs other groups to help with them.

Calling MO rabbis clowns or other things does not win you friends. You can see that in Israel where the Dati leumi many times get along better with the Chilonim than they do with Charedim even though there interests might be more similar.

To put it simply, If you have a house for sale and you get 2 similar bids. Who do you sell the house to. You likely sell it to the person you like and get along better.

You can also see this in Zoning laws here in the US. If you act with contempt with people and you need a zoning law changed and they refuse (Like building a 5 story school on a residential block) dont complain of anti-semitism when they refuse your zoning variance
