So the concensus is both the sales clerk should thank the customer, and the customer thank the checkout person. Is there a protocal who should say it first and who second?

How frequently must it be renewed, and is it a doctor visit every year (or whatever the frequency)?

Better question – if it is so effective, why aren’t ALL the producers using this rental setup? Why only Aderet?

I doubt the R”Y is even aware of what is in the auction, let alone approved it.

Mod, using WiFi to connect to a non-internet LAN is a useful functionality incomparable to a cellphone without cell service.

Mod80 – you can use WiFi to connect to a LAN that doesnt have internet.

Also, even if you use the internet over WiFi, you still need an internet service via broadband cable, dsl, or dialup.

    A) dialup and WiFi are not comparable

    B) WiFi is not a “type” of internet. It is similar to a Cat 5 cable. It is a LAN connectivity technology. Doesn’t even necessarily need internet altogether.

Haleivi, I said its not necessarily the current persons fault. Like you said, often it was their father or grandfather etc. that threw out the hat.

When did some people abandon their hats? I’ll bet everyone here’s great grandfathers all regularly wore hats. Even those here that don’t own or wear one. Why was it discarded. What was the statement? I want to look more like the goyim (since they too once wore them but discarded them)?

I’ve read of a (secular) couple getting divorced after over 70 years of marriage. I also read of a 90 year old man killing his wife of 70+ years.

What is I “buy” an Aderet “rental” CD and a few months later get bored of it and sell it on eBay. Was I allowed to sell it? And either way, the new buyer – how is he bound to any the “rental” terms? (I just send him the original CD with no mention of the rental and no original packaging.)

Merriam-Websters defines a girls as “a female child from birth to adulthood.” I recall you objecting to the modern usage of the word gender, even though the dictionary lists it as an acceptable usage.

In my community someone is called a girl until she gets married.

That’s abuse of language. Surprising to have that coming from the enforcer.

If Aderet is renting the CD to me for 20 years, that means I have a contractual rental relationship with Aderet for the next 20 years. If the CD stops working after 5 years, they must replace it. If not, it was all a joke and never a rental.

Aries: if it was an otherwise perfect shidduch, but the guy’s parents let you know after the engagement (since it wasnt discussed beforehand) they have a strict (non chasidish) minhug of father/father and mother/mother only, and the minhug goes back hundreds of unbroken years in their mishpacha, and they cant be the first to break it in hundreds of years, you would break your daughters engagement with the guy she loves and wants to marry, and make a big stink and big machlokes over it??

    SHOCKING!!!

Even if the “rental” is binding, if the renter (i.e. purchaser) breaches the the terms of rental (i.e. by making a copy for his car or iPod or even for his friend), then the ONLY recourse under halacha the owner (i.e. producer) of the CD has is to declare the rental terms to have been breached and demand the CD be returned and issue a refund for the “rental”. That is the standard (and only) recourse under halacha for a breach of contract — reversing the original transaction.
