☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant
I still disagree with the premise told to the OP. The neshomo yeseira leaves, but the guf yeseira remains. 🙂
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWolf, Rashi in Beitzah (16a) and Taanis (27b) says that the neshomo yeseirah helps a person eat and drink more.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participantthe Neshama is a purely spiritual construct
Yet somehow, it enables you eat more.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI want some Cholov Yisroel geek yogurt.
Apparently, geek yogurt, at least for the week, doesn’t have active cultures.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantGolfer, I did a Norman’s/Mehadrin side by side. Mehadrin was a bit thicker, and Norman’s a bit sweeter, but I enjoyed both.
November 21, 2013 9:18 pm at 9:18 pm in reply to: Withholding a get vs. Withholding children #988316☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWolf, you gave two reasons that visitation should not be withheld. You wrote that a child needs both parents, and that it’s a parent’s right to see his child (I agree with both).
If it were only for the sake of the parent, withholding a get would be unthinkable.
Isn’t it at least reasonable to consider the udea of withholding a get, though, for the other reason, to force the non-compliant parent to allow the child to have a relationship with both parents?
(For this discussion, I will consider the woman’s nonacceptance of the get to be the same as the man’s withholding it.)
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhen he’s mesader kiddushin, Rabbi Willig says the brochoh “borei pre nuptials”.
(not a commentary, just a play on words)
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhen using a cattle prod, one recites the brochoh “oseh meuseh b’rishus”.
November 21, 2013 7:34 pm at 7:34 pm in reply to: Withholding a get vs. Withholding children #988311☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWolf, I agree with you. Visitation should not be withheld for lack of financial support.
What do you think, though, of the get being used as leverage when visitation is being withheld?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThere once was a girl named Batsheva
who tried to write limericks so cleva.
When they asked her why,
She said with a sigh,
“What should I do, that’s my teva!”
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThere once was a girl named Honey
who tried to write limericks so funny
When they asked her why,
She said with a sigh,
…”There’s nothing I won’t do for money!”
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYes, if you don’t register your cards you won’t get the credit. They also say that their are limited slots, so register early.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBy the way, you’re right that it’s only $10 this year, but many stores are automatically registered. If they’re on the Small Business Saturday Map, they qualify.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThey also eliminated the credit for online purchases. Does this mean, gotbeer, that anyone selling online is not a small business?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWIY, don’t read this on an empty stomach.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThis year, Amex isn’t allowing charities for Small Business Saturday. Obviously, last year it was allowed.
FTFY
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDepends on if I’m home.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI haven’t seen it (never heard of it until now).
I assume the adoption idea is tongue-in-cheek.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYochid v’rabim…
That was great, Goq!
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSyag, he’s been working on it, but it’s like driftwood.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSam, so is lashon horah and kefirah.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantReal men don’t have subtitles.
That would make a great subtitle for you.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantInterjection, there is a difference, but a woman is still not allowed to have thoughts of doing an aveirah with a man.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantGAW, I don’t know how the Al Cheits are supposed to expand the issurim of hirhur beyond what’s explicit. I don’t know why you don’t think the AH”T’s list is exhaustive; if you have a mekor for other types of hirhur being assur, by all means…
Oomis, I think Gavra answered you well.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantR’ Moshe didn’t say otherwise; in fact, throughout that teshuvah he implies that arayos are worse than other aveiros (except a”z).
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI think he listed every hirhur which is inherently assur – avodah zarah, chemdas hamamon (lo sachmod), arayos (acharei eineichem), hirhur Torah in inappropriate venue.
The quote from the Dover Shalom indicates that others aren’t inherently assur.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAllow me to quote from the ????? ?????:
?? ??? ?????? ????? ?????? ???: ??????? ?????? (???? ?? ?”?,?????, ???? ?????, ?????? ???? ???? ??????? ???????). In the footnotes, he quotes the ???? ???? that even ??????? ???? ??????? ????? ????? ????? ?????? need ????.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantGavra, WIY, I think it’s muttar (maybe m’chuar, though) to fantasize about that ham sandwich, but you certainly need a kapparah if you planned to eat it. There’s a difference.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHe specifies ????, not ham sandwiches. ???? ?????? doesn’t refer to ?????? ??????. There is no ????? to fantasize about eating ham sandwiches, AFAIK.
.
He doesn’t assume that ??????? normally causes ??????? for ????; Jfem does. In a case in which it does, it would be ????.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant??? ????? ????? ???? ????? ?????? ???? ??? ????? ????? ????? ???? ???? ?? ?????
He clearly doesn’t agree with Jfem, though.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDid anyone ever leave cuz of insults other posters directed at them?
Yes.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI linked that by putting that website in my profile.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI’ve tried Norman’s and now Mehadrin. They’re both tasty.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBean me up, Scotty!
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhen there’s a space in the name, you have to put a hyphen instead of the space.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhich of your wives brought the most cash?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantMost people put cholent in the pot; Goq puts pot in the cholent.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAs long as you don’t do it again…
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant?”? ??? ?’ ??’ ?”?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe smiley was for SF and Sam.
Jfem, please explain.
November 15, 2013 1:48 pm at 1:48 pm in reply to: Will the fact that NY will have more casinos really affect things in a big way? #987028☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantZD, you’re presenting the reason that Sullivan County wants casinos, but not every revenue raising idea should be implemented. There is a big human downside which should override the economic benefit.
November 15, 2013 1:42 pm at 1:42 pm in reply to: Will the fact that NY will have more casinos really affect things in a big way? #987027☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNishtdayngesheft, that was visious and uncalled for. There’s no reason you can’t debate ZD in a civil manner.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant🙂
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantM’racket.
November 15, 2013 4:44 am at 4:44 am in reply to: This isn't my thread title. Please change it. #987066☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou can always look at the address bar.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantTAOM, so I guess you now know the lyrics to Yesh Tikvah!
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou wrote “very disturbing” and “inexplicable”.
Wrath is the wrong word. I’m not angry, I just didn’t want you or anyone reading your post to think it’s an acceptable attitude towards Chaza”l.
November 15, 2013 12:29 am at 12:29 am in reply to: Tzedakah for tuition crisis – NEED DONORS #986828☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAlso schools need to lower their tuition. It’s getting out of hand
Yeah, why do rebbeim’s families need to eat?
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant“difficult to see”
That’s not the terminology you used.
November 14, 2013 10:03 pm at 10:03 pm in reply to: Tzedakah for tuition crisis – NEED DONORS #986824☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantApushatayid is right. Fundraising money subsidizes tuition for the neediest parents, and the tuition committees try to allocate scholarships according to the level of need.
