WIY, click on your profile, then add “/page/53” to the address bar. You can keep going down (52, 51, etc.).

You don’t need to be a mod to figure this out.

(Everyone has a different # of pages, you happen to have 53 at the moment.)

Goq, I think the wonderful person we see here is the real you, as Writersoul expressed so beautifully.

I won’t pretend to know what you should tell the next person who says something insensitive to you or about you. But I think I can tell you what you should tell yourself – that if that person knew who you really were, they would never say such a thing.

Yes, I imagine that we’re arguing semantics, but to me, celebrating military strength, or, in the words of the post to which you originally responded, “the strength and bravery of the Maccabim”, reeks of “kochi v’otzem yodi”. “Celebrating the oil burning for eight days” does not.

I’m gonna go with Wolf on this one. You need a talmid chacham who knows you to weigh whatever inyan there may be in marrying from a limited field vs. the practicality of being able to do so.

Ubiquitin, your point is completely lost on me. It says nowhere in that Ramba”m (or any other) that we are celebrating the might of the Chashmonoim.

Thanking Hashem for the military victory is completely different than celebrating military strength.

VM, the point isn’t to find out about an individual’s health, it’s to prevent the agmas nefesh of children with serious conditions.

If you want to find out about an individual’s status as a carrier, you can go to a private lab.

Other examples off the top of my head: Miriam’s tzoraas, Moshe Rabeinu’s tzoraas, Yosef’s two extra years in prison. The Ramba”m proves it from the pasuk of “M’cheini na misifricha” to which Hasem responded, “Mi asher chotoh li emchenu”.

LAB, in context, their posts, I think, did not mean to deny onesh in this world, just that there can be other reasons for suffering as well.

If they really think that Hashem never punishes in this world, then they’re wrong.

Also, Sam, I don’t think “S’char Mitzvos B’hai Alma Leika” means that there’s never s’char, otherwise how could there be “d’vorim she’odom ochel peiroseihem bo’olom hazeh”?

    From Harvard’s website:

In the short term, marijuana use impairs perception, judgment, thinking, memory, and learning; memory defects may persist six weeks after last use. Mental disorders connected with marijuana use merit their own category in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) IV, published by the American Psychiatric Association. These include Cannabis Intoxication (consisting of impaired motor coordination, anxiety, impaired judgment, sensation of slowed time, social withdrawal, and often includes perceptual disturbances; Cannabis Intoxication Delirium (memory deficit, disorientation); Cannabis Induced Psychotic Disorder, Delusions; Cannabis Induced Psychotic Disorder, Hallucinations; and Cannabis Induced Anxiety Disorder.

In addition, marijuana use has many indirect effects on health. Its effect on coordination, perception, and judgment means that it causes a number of accidents, vehicular and otherwise.

Legally, she may not be able to enforce supervised visitation. If she knows that he abuses the kids, whether others condemn or condone is irrelevant. She has to protect them.

I saw the terms. Charities are excluded. From their website:

The following types of merchants are not eligible: those that are part of a franchise brand with more than 100 stores (if a franchise brand has more than 20 corporate-owned stores, then the entire brand is excluded) and merchants who accept American Express Cards solely through a third party payments aggregator, including those that offer the ability to accept credit cards through a card reader attached to a mobile device, or as part of an affiliate program.

Merchants in the following categories are also not eligible: government agencies, public administration, charities, non-profits, trade associations, shopping property management companies, direct sellers, and political organizations.

Merchants that do not have a physical storefront or location are not eligible and will not appear on the Small Business Saturday Map which will be available from 11/21/13-12/1/13.

Sam, it’s not a question of justification or overlap. It’s leverage.
