☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant
WIY, click on your profile, then add “/page/53” to the address bar. You can keep going down (52, 51, etc.).
You don’t need to be a mod to figure this out.
(Everyone has a different # of pages, you happen to have 53 at the moment.)
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantGoq, I think the wonderful person we see here is the real you, as Writersoul expressed so beautifully.
I won’t pretend to know what you should tell the next person who says something insensitive to you or about you. But I think I can tell you what you should tell yourself – that if that person knew who you really were, they would never say such a thing.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYes, I imagine that we’re arguing semantics, but to me, celebrating military strength, or, in the words of the post to which you originally responded, “the strength and bravery of the Maccabim”, reeks of “kochi v’otzem yodi”. “Celebrating the oil burning for eight days” does not.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI’m gonna go with Wolf on this one. You need a talmid chacham who knows you to weigh whatever inyan there may be in marrying from a limited field vs. the practicality of being able to do so.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantUbiquitin, your point is completely lost on me. It says nowhere in that Ramba”m (or any other) that we are celebrating the might of the Chashmonoim.
Thanking Hashem for the military victory is completely different than celebrating military strength.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantIs there a chelek beis of the new one?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe new one?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDon’t forget to use your Amex card.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantVM, cute. I have a funny feeling that the OP wanted to know which jewelry store, though. 🙂
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantVM, the point isn’t to find out about an individual’s health, it’s to prevent the agmas nefesh of children with serious conditions.
If you want to find out about an individual’s status as a carrier, you can go to a private lab.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantCall them and find out.

December 1, 2013 12:50 am at 12:50 am in reply to: Where to buy a kallah bracelet in Monsey #1120461☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantMaybe we should hold off on the mazel tovs? The bracelet’s usually bought before it’s official.
Hatzlocha!
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantOther examples off the top of my head: Miriam’s tzoraas, Moshe Rabeinu’s tzoraas, Yosef’s two extra years in prison. The Ramba”m proves it from the pasuk of “M’cheini na misifricha” to which Hasem responded, “Mi asher chotoh li emchenu”.
T613, welcome to popa’s club!
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantLAB, in context, their posts, I think, did not mean to deny onesh in this world, just that there can be other reasons for suffering as well.
If they really think that Hashem never punishes in this world, then they’re wrong.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantJust not to have my posts arbitrarily deleted.
I’ll think about it. Usually there’s a fee
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWelcome, 29 (just trying to get on your good side).
Why, do you need something? 🙂
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAlso, Sam, I don’t think “S’char Mitzvos B’hai Alma Leika” means that there’s never s’char, otherwise how could there be “d’vorim she’odom ochel peiroseihem bo’olom hazeh”?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSam, to be fair, he’s talking onesh, you’re talking s’char.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantLAB, popa wasn’t even talking to Syag. Either way, give them a break. They’re just trying to tell Lost1970 that he shouldn’t be so hard on himself.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantPopa, I think you’re being too harsh. Kkls45 might have just meant that we can never know why something happens and when there will be retribution.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI think you said the wrong Al Hanisim tonight.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantNovember 28, 2013 1:49 pm at 1:49 pm in reply to: What do you think about cannabis becoming more and more legal? #989936☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantFrom Harvard’s website:
In the short term, marijuana use impairs perception, judgment, thinking, memory, and learning; memory defects may persist six weeks after last use. Mental disorders connected with marijuana use merit their own category in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) IV, published by the American Psychiatric Association. These include Cannabis Intoxication (consisting of impaired motor coordination, anxiety, impaired judgment, sensation of slowed time, social withdrawal, and often includes perceptual disturbances; Cannabis Intoxication Delirium (memory deficit, disorientation); Cannabis Induced Psychotic Disorder, Delusions; Cannabis Induced Psychotic Disorder, Hallucinations; and Cannabis Induced Anxiety Disorder.
In addition, marijuana use has many indirect effects on health. Its effect on coordination, perception, and judgment means that it causes a number of accidents, vehicular and otherwise.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantLive right, it’s not, but some of the words are similar.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHealth mentioned that he was sick, and in a nursing home. May he have a refuah sheleimah.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe 8th of Teves doesn’t fall out on Dec. 11th very often either, but I don’t plan on doing anything about that either.
November 28, 2013 12:28 am at 12:28 am in reply to: Looking for a good nutritionist in Brooklyn #989602☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWIY, tell me what regular people eat, and I’ll let you know.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI hope that’s a good Oman.
November 27, 2013 6:17 pm at 6:17 pm in reply to: Looking for a good nutritionist in Brooklyn #989596☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSo you need a nutritionist recommended by a bunch of trolls?
November 27, 2013 5:58 pm at 5:58 pm in reply to: What do you think about cannabis becoming more and more legal? #989911☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantPopa, how do you transliterate that? I’ll try to look it up.
November 27, 2013 5:46 pm at 5:46 pm in reply to: What do you think about cannabis becoming more and more legal? #989908☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe Igros Moshe referred to earlier in the thread, which assers smoking marijuana for several reasons, is found in YD(3)35.
November 27, 2013 5:31 pm at 5:31 pm in reply to: What do you think about cannabis becoming more and more legal? #989904☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhy, popa, is wheat unhealthy?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHealth, how are you?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantShopping, I don’t think the mods can change the way the website is designed. I think that’s up to the Editor and Duvys Media.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhy, VM, who says you have to be Jewish to be frum?
November 27, 2013 3:48 am at 3:48 am in reply to: Yated article about barely making it financially #991826☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantVM, why do you assume that vouchers would be distributed and funded in a local basis rather than in a state basis?
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSounds like a reference to eating turkey while the menorah is lit.
Does Bing count? jk
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe blood orange was really good.
☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant42, I don’t think you’re right. It’s probably mat’eh aku”m, since they explicitly exclude nonprofits, and the appearance on the map is surely a mistake.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantPlite, I tasted the Norman’s lite coffee yogurt. The Splenda didn’t work for me. The regular is better (although I haven’t seen Norman’s coffee regular).
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantExcellent, keep ’em coming.
November 24, 2013 2:36 pm at 2:36 pm in reply to: Passport Pictures for Seminary Applications #988932☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAsking on the CR isn’t cheating.
I was talking about answering.
November 24, 2013 2:04 pm at 2:04 pm in reply to: Passport Pictures for Seminary Applications #988930☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThis is actually part of the entrance exam. I won’t cheat and tell you. 😉
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThen you’re not learning the wrong mesechta. Everyone else is.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBut not all of us are fat.
November 22, 2013 5:04 am at 5:04 am in reply to: Withholding a get vs. Withholding children #988332☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantLegally, she may not be able to enforce supervised visitation. If she knows that he abuses the kids, whether others condemn or condone is irrelevant. She has to protect them.
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSam and Haleivi, my point to Wolf was that it has physical ramifications, no matter how you read Rashi. I disagree with the OP, though, because there’s no reason to think that eating more won’t result in weight gain.
November 22, 2013 3:50 am at 3:50 am in reply to: Withholding a get vs. Withholding children #988330☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhat? You allow your kids to be abused if you can’t stop it legally!!??
☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI saw the terms. Charities are excluded. From their website:
The following types of merchants are not eligible: those that are part of a franchise brand with more than 100 stores (if a franchise brand has more than 20 corporate-owned stores, then the entire brand is excluded) and merchants who accept American Express Cards solely through a third party payments aggregator, including those that offer the ability to accept credit cards through a card reader attached to a mobile device, or as part of an affiliate program.
Merchants in the following categories are also not eligible: government agencies, public administration, charities, non-profits, trade associations, shopping property management companies, direct sellers, and political organizations.
Merchants that do not have a physical storefront or location are not eligible and will not appear on the Small Business Saturday Map which will be available from 11/21/13-12/1/13.
November 22, 2013 1:48 am at 1:48 am in reply to: Withholding a get vs. Withholding children #988326☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSam, it’s not a question of justification or overlap. It’s leverage.
