PBA -“I was gonna let them get halfway done, and then pull the thing out and spray blood from my arm all over the place.”

Even though you’re probably joking, but s/o might think this is a cool idea. NOT; because you don’t know the skills of the techs there. They might not be able to stop the bleeding and you might end up in the hospital or worse -like dead. That’s right – people die from minor bleeding when noone there knows how to control it.

Feif Un -“Derech: you’re incorrect. I read the full letter of the Chasam Sofer regarding this. He says that metzitzah is not an actual part of the bris. He proves it by saying that someone who had a bris without metzitzah was allowed to eat from the korbon Pesach, a kohen without it could eat terumah, etc.”

I believe you even though you didn’t post the Mekor of where this is. Now if the panel that must be convened comes out that it shouldn’t be done – it wouldn’t be a precedent in Halacha. So far I haven’t seen anything that says Metzitza B’peh is dangerous except for some people saying they know cases of infants coming down with HSV. And what some Gov. agencies have said so far means nothing. They must print these findings like everything in medicine and it has to be peer reviewed. There are rules regarding medical practice and nothing so far has said one way or another. What are the levels of knowledge of training of these personell in these agencies who decided the cause of these infants disease, if they actually decided this? What scientific proof did they use to determine this?

People will believe anything as long as some supposed scientist claims it to be. Remember the guy who claimed that Autism is caused by immunizations?

shmoel -“I strictly follow Shulchan Aruch L’shem Shamayim to get stone drunk on Purim.”

I think the litmus test to determine if the high, drunk, stone drunk is L’shem Shomayim or not is -if the guy loses control. Losing control meaning vomiting all over the place, not in a bag or bathroom, pushing people for no reason and acting extremely Vild (wild).

You don’t want to – fine, but that doesn’t make the rest of us wrong. And because some do whatever they want when they are drunk, eg. puking all over the place, some of us don’t. So don’t bring any Rayos from that!

This issue needs to be looked into by a panel. The panel should consist of 2 Poskim, 2 Mohelim & 1 infectious disease expert (not necessarily a MD). Whatever their recommendations are should be followed by e/o who is Frum. Noone can say right now what to do and claim that this is Daas Torah. Daas Torah can only be based on the Mitzious which is Not fully known right now.

A person who has Yiras Shomayim will wait to find out what the truth is. People arguing back and forth remind me of the Shaitel issue before it was clarified.

Very important point. Not eating properly can lead to eating disorders which are mental illnesses. These are very hard to treat. They usually need treatment from a psychiatrist & a psychologist.

But yet noone has addressed the point of my posts and that is:

There are women who will play up situations like pregnancy and/or sickness for whatever reasons. How come noone will admit this?

And second of all, how should this be dealt with from a woman’s perspective?

The line for the henpecked husbands stretches as far as the eye can see. In the line for the Non-henpecked husbands – there is one lonely guy. stuck -“Ad Dlo Yoda is a very high point of intoxication.”

This is something you made up, but has no basis to it. I have no opinion in the argument here. But I do think that it’s disgusting to throw up in public. That said – I do get drunk or high every year. I remember many moons ago when I was in high school a Rebbe told us, esp. since kids tend to over drink, that you aren’t a Mentch if you don’t carry a plastic bag with you on Purim. His words still ring true today.

As a matter of fact -it can’t be Ad Dlo Yoda is very high because at a certain point drinking becomes a Sakana. Chazal would never make a Chiyuv that comes close to a Sakana!

You want to get drunk -fine – I do. But you want to drink and act like a Behaima & vomit all over the place & blame the Halacha -this doesn’t wash. Yes, when I was a kid there where a few of these -nowadays it seems there are a lot more. Maybe because the Frum community has grown by leaps and bounds – so it seems more.

yungerman1 -“Health- Agreed. Its amazing how quickly the Sharptons of this world rush to judgement and scream racism.”

If it was just Sharpton -it wouldn’t be so bad. He is known that his Parnassa is a race biter. It’s half the country including the President. And not only them, but so many posters here have said the same thing. It’s just pathetic.

“I am NOT saying Zimmerman is innocnet or that he is not a racist.”

That is exactly the point -noone right now can possibly know. If some new evidence comes to light then he can be proven to be guilty or a racist. But as of right now -he is innocent until Proven guilty.

After reading the news today – I feel this man will be prosecuted and found guilty just to please the Mob. The family of the teen and their lawyer are calling it a conspiracy. Why is it a conspiracy? They say because the police report says he had physical damage on him at the time and then you don’t see anything on the video later at the police station. They want you to conclude without coming out and saying it -So it must be that the police on the scene decided -ok -it’s an African -American let’s lie and say it was self-defense.

It’s not possible that he was treated at the scene & didn’t require further care, right?

This is like saying a guy comes into the ER but afterwards he looks fine -so it must be there was nothing wrong with him from the git-go.

The problem is so many people buy into this conspiracy theory.

This reminds me of another conspiracy theory that lots of people bought into -the OJ trial. And he got off scot free from the murder of two people. And almost e/o knows he was really guilty.

But our laws prevent s/o from being tried again for the same crime. This law should be amended to protect the innocent, not to protect the guilty. So why don’t they? This would prevent terrible

miscarriages of justice like in the OJ case? I truly believe because our Gov. is so full of Gaivah that they won’t ammend it because this would tell the world our justice & jury system is falliable!

So it should be a “Yes”. The reason the mother’s life comes first is because of the Din Rodeph.

“Again, I ask you, is death the only bad thing that we’re afraid of? No, there are plenty of horror stories you hear from people that are still alive but have to live with the sad reality of not being able to bear more children because it took too long to get the care they needed.”

No, it’s not. But these things that go wrong with the mother out of the hospital is Not statistically significant more than when things go wrong in the hospital. In other words – it doesn’t make a difference where you are, no matter what you say.

Actually I’m not sure what you mean here. It seems you’re talking about the Din of Rodeph. This would not apply to the discussion here. The mother’s life is not really in any more danger in either setting! This being the case -it’s really only the baby whom’s life is at stake and therefore I’m discussing the infant mortality rate.

In Maryland it was 3.54, New Jersey 2.86. For women intending to deliver at home under the care of certified nurse midwives, including those who were transferred to hospitals for delivery due to problems with either mother or baby, the rate was 2.5.”

You just did the old trickeroo. You compared overall mortality to home-birth mortality.

“Not sure where this tripling (or exponential increase) of the infant mortality rate is coming from. Probably home births that are not properly supervised, which we all agree is a bad idea.”

Now you might be right, but this Non-properly supervised is still supervised by a mid-wife. This misunderstanding on your part might even be accidental. It’s hard for Non-medical people to understand these research articles -so I just post the revelant parts.

The bottom line is – planned hospital births is safer for the infant than planned home-births, even after screening the mothers and diverting them prior to a hospital. There remains a 2-3 times more risk of death in the home-birth setting!

Acc. to today’s reports he admits he followed, but never confronted the teen.

“A 911 operator specifically told Mr. Zimmerman to back off – police were dispatched to check out what the armed, goyishe shomrim has complained about – no need to do anything further if the cops are on their way.”

And he didn’t listen -so therefore the teen has a right to attack him and you say my legal analysis is wrong?

“4. You wrote, in part: “What I feel happened after the pushing [by the gunman, Zimmerman] was the kid [young Mr. Martin] got very angry and violently attacked the accused. Etc.”

Yes, this was based on the news media reports -now this isn’t what the case may be. It took them a month to come out with Zimmerman’s story. This case smells like the Tawana Brawley case & the case against 3 college students in the South. I hope Justice is served in this case and the Gov. doesn’t join the Mob lynching. It’s funny how groups that been discriminated against in the past have learned nothing from the experience!
