The Midrash Shmuel says in the name of the Ritvo that it refers to above, to the shalom of the behavior of Hashem. I think it means that the kitrugim should get convinced and agree with the defenders. That can be the meaning עושה שלום במרומיו He, Hashem, the same way makes peace in the heavens, הוא יעשה שלום עלינו should make peace on us, caring for and loving each other and then ואמרו אמן the Malochim will say Amen.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe idea was to give a general knowledge. To understand how to learn, learn Chadoshim gam Yeshonim from Rav Yanoson Steif ztz’l. We should see what mussar we can learn from an agadteh, story presented by the gemora. It is not mentioned in vain.
June 4, 2020 12:39 pm at 12:39 pm in reply to: “BiShlomo shel Malchus” – especially in these days… #1867959Reb EliezerParticipantThe Chasam Sofer explains why the talmidei chachimim increase peace in the world. There is a fixed amount of conflicts preordaned on this world. The more milchamta shel Torah (confict) exist the less battles and wars among nations occur.
June 4, 2020 11:55 am at 11:55 am in reply to: Dvar Torah Nasso: Novel understanding of Birchas Kohanim from Akeidas Yitzchok #1867902Reb EliezerParticipantThe kohanim are a conduit to the blessings from Hashem even if we are not worthy. It says in Taamei Haminhagim that we mention bad dreams at Birchas Kohanim as the kohanim when they duchen are completely kadosh and a dream is 1/60 of kedusha so we are mevatel a bad dream in sixty.
June 4, 2020 11:27 am at 11:27 am in reply to: Dvar Torah Nasso: Novel understanding of Birchas Kohanim from Akeidas Yitzchok #1867894Reb EliezerParticipantThe Binah Leitim Darush 41, ties all the parashiyos of Nasso together. There are seven causes that bring to gaaveh, the yichus, beauty, wealth, the family, wisdom, strength and honor for leadership. Even though Gershon was the bechor, Kehos was elevated because we go by merit and not by lineage. A zov teaches us the importance of inner beauty. Beauty can be taken and its fleeting but inner beauty remains. Wealth is provided by Hashem and only what he gives to charity is realy his. We find by Neilah on Yom Kippur one sin specified, stealing. If he does not use what is given to him to serve Hashem, he is stealing from Him and moal, commits treachery. When he thinks how great he is because his family stands behind him, teaches the Torah to be careful as the wife can become a soteh and go astray. The nazir’s hair which covers the brain which provides wisdom is being removed. This teaches similarly that wisdom comes from Hashem and therefore, he should not praise himself by it. Drinking gives a person a feeling of strength which again is provided by Hashem and reminded to the nazir. Also, he is reminded not be metameh himself to a dead person indicating that his leadership and greatness is only temporary and not to praise himself with it. The Birchas Kohanim summarizes everything indicating that all these bkessings come from Hashem and the most important is to have peace of mind.
Reb EliezerParticipantSyag lachochmo shtikah. I saw how they pushed people in Washington DC in order the president should be able to have his photo op with the bible in his hand. It was a peaceful march with no looting invoved.
Reb EliezerParticipantCalling in the millitary in domestic peaceful protest is another stupid action where the defense secretary Esper and former chief of staff Mullin vehemently disagree.

June 2, 2020, 5:27 PMReb EliezerParticipantIt says הוכיח תוכח maybe first, apply to yourself קשוט עצמך then others ואחר כך קשוט אחרים. Once you did that, then we can apply it to others multiple times if they don’t listen.
Reb EliezerParticipantI heard once, it says הליכות עולם לו – אל תקרא הליכות אלא הלכות the way a person behaves is suppose to teach halachas.
Reb Moshe said ושננתם אתם should be read veshunantom atem. You must first learn yourself before you can make your child learn.
The Binah Leitim when he gave a darosha, said that I am saying it to myself.Reb EliezerParticipantThey say now that the white natinalist disguised themselves as antifa.
Reb EliezerParticipantANTIFA – stands for anti-fascist
Reb EliezerParticipantWould there be bishul akum on this when the goy heats this up as it is not edible now?
Reb EliezerParticipantI think it has to be edible when he makes it. The Aruch Hashulchan (527,13) says that even if it was edible when he made it on Wednesday but got destroyed on Friday would not be good. I think if he can revive it when he cooks, it would be OK provided it was edible when he made it.
Reb EliezerParticipantThis reminds me of a mashel attributed to the Rambam. A minister was praised to the king that he can perform a special accomplishment by teaching a cat to eat from a plate with a knife and fork. Another minister put a mouse in his pocket for the test. At the test, he realeases the mouse and the cat forgets all its teachings and runs after mouse. It goes after its natural instincts when the opportunity arrives. Similarly these people when they have the opportunity, forget their civility and go after their instincs.
Reb EliezerParticipant1, what you are saying is a Klei Yokor in Parshas Devorim on פנו לכם צפונה be hidden in galus. Don’t make Aisov jealous by building fancy houses and forgeting we are strangers in a strange land.
Reb EliezerParticipantShould be above, is my beloved among the nations.
Reb EliezerParticipantSomeone said that if you spend 3 seconds to read each one of the 100,000 dead, it will take 83 hours and 20 min. 300,000 sec/ 3600 sec = 83 1/3 hr around 3 1/2 days reading without stopping.
Reb EliezerParticipantHow do you pronounce ‘ghoti’? Fish as rough, women and nation.
Reb EliezerParticipantIt says like the rose among the thorns is my bekoved among the natiions. I heard once, the thorns on either side of the rose resist it from bending, so it grows straight. Similarly, the pain in life we experience drives us to teshuva and close to Hashem. By the other nations, pain drives them away from their beliefs whereas us it brings closer.

Reb EliezerParticipantReb EliezerParticipantTrump is endangering others multiple ways by not wearing a mask and not practicing social distancing. One, he is passing on his germs to others asymtomaticaly and two, more importantly, others follow him in not wearing a mqsk and not prwcticing social distanciing.
Reb EliezerParticipantFor the Republican Convention Trump could not care less if everyone gets infected as long as he gets his way.
May 26, 2020 10:00 pm at 10:00 pm in reply to: Shevuos Vort: Our Power to heed Torah and fascinating reason for eating dairy #1865137Reb EliezerParticipantShould be above if it does not fit, then you don’t get the Torah.
May 26, 2020 7:53 pm at 7:53 pm in reply to: Shevuos Vort: Our Power to heed Torah and fascinating reason for eating dairy #1865121Reb EliezerParticipantThe Klei Yokor in Sefer Olelos Ephraim explains the saying of Hashem to Moshe Rabbenu to answer the malochim but he was not told to give them an answer but the word return חחזיר להם תשובה answer them back with their question. The malochim asked מה לילוד אשה בינינו what is a being born through a woman doing among us? Give them back there question as the answer. As we are a human being we need the Torah because of bechira, free choice and yetzer hara. The Ben Ish Chai compares Moshe Rabenu’s argument to a father who gave a suit to one his children which had precious stones sewn in the pockets. The argument was who gets it. Each one had his argument why he should get it. The youngest child gets up and says, let’s try it on and see who it fits. The makochim wanted the sodos, secrets hidden in the Torah. So Moshe Rabenu said that if the simple meaning does not apply to you, does not fit, then you get the Torah.
May 26, 2020 5:38 pm at 5:38 pm in reply to: Shevuos Vort: Our Power to heed Torah and fascinating reason for eating dairy #1865091Reb EliezerParticipantIt says שחורה אני ונאוה I am black and beautiful. What makes us beautiful that we have the tendency to sin and we don’t or we do teshuva. The Torah finishes לעיני כל ישראך, in front of the Jews’s eyes. Rashi explains that the luchas were broken at the eigel in front of the Jew’s eyes. The Torah starts בראשית – בשביל ישראל שנקראו ראשית the world was created because of the Bnei Yisroel. If they would have been Malochim and have no bechira, free choice, there would have been no reason to create the world but since they have the tendency to sin and they are able overcome it, the world was created to gain olam habo as the beis in the beginning indicates the two worlds, this world and the next world.
May 26, 2020 4:36 pm at 4:36 pm in reply to: Shevuos Vort: Our Power to heed Torah and fascinating reason for eating dairy #1865038Reb EliezerParticipantShavuos, we need lachem because if not for the yetzer hara we would have never received the Torah and the world would never have been created. The yetzer hara helps us to improve ourselves. If there were no resistance, the light bulb would not burn. Erickson’s child development theory says that one matures by overcoming problems. The yetzer hara might be this problem.
The Chasam Sofer gives us another aitza to fight the yetzer hara. It says סור מרע ועשה טוב turn away from the bad and do good בקש שלום ורדפהו look for peace and run after it. Run after peace, how? Do something small for the soul, disturbing the peace between body and soul and let the body get used to it, reconstituting the peace, and continue this cycle.Reb EliezerParticipantJoseph, did we do enough testing to find all cases?
May 26, 2020 4:33 pm at 4:33 pm in reply to: BIGGEST JEWISH DEBATE: DO YOU WASH YOUR TZITZIS??? #1865062Reb EliezerParticipantThere is a story about the Chasam Sofer who asked to test the bochurim’s reaction, how do you sweep out your room? Viazo kertmen aus die shtieb? The bochurim, figuring the Chasam Sofer is asking, looked all over Shulchan Aruch for the halacha. A young boy got up and said, with a broom, mit a besem. Sometimes we ask the obvious. Why do you wash the tzitzis? Because it is dirty. The problem is not the garment but tbe tzitzis that gets entangled.
May 26, 2020 2:37 pm at 2:37 pm in reply to: Shevuos Vort: Our Power to heed Torah and fascinating reason for eating dairy #1864978Reb EliezerParticipantThe Haflaoh, Panim Yafos in Parshas Nitzovim on ובחרת בחיים explains that when we want to do mitzvos or convince someone to do mitzvos, do it from life emphazing the gan eden over the gehinom. That is why to fight the yetzer hara thinking of the day of death should the be the last resort. Doing mitzvos from life by learning Torah and looking at its reward of life through the reading of krias shema, this world and the next world, brings to loving of Hashem whereas the other way frightens him.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe W.H.O. does not recommend this medication anymore.
Reb EliezerParticipantJoseph can you elaborate about your statement above regarding cases, tests, deaths, per capita etc.
Reb EliezerParticipantJoseph, if I ran for president, I would do it.
Reb EliezerParticipantTrump if he has nothing to hide, why not allow us to see his tax returns?
Reb EliezerParticipantBiden at least says something that is true, whereas Trump never says anything that is true.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe Sefer Chagvei Haselah explains that the Torah starts with a beis indicating people created with different characteristic and the Aseres Hadibros which includes all the mitzvos of the Torah (see Kar Hakemach and Baal Haturm who says that is has 620 letters for 613 mitzvos and 7 bnei Noach) starts with an aleph to show that the Torah unites.
Reb EliezerParticipantHilel prayed ברוך ה’ יום יום he wanted to thank Hashem day by day for not getting his food at once and thanking only once as his prayer is not appreciated every day. The snake was cursed by receiving its food for its lifetime and not having to ask Hashem anymore. This is the meaning of tefila where Hashem desires our tefila every day.
Reb EliezerParticipantIt says משה קבל תורה מסיני it does not say בסיני. Hashem gave the Torah on Mount Sinai which is 1/64 of the highest mountain Mount Tabor. This is the teaching of 1/8 of an 1/8 or 1/64 of humility a talmid chacham should have. So we can learn from Sinai the importance of humility when it comes to learning Torah.
Reb EliezerParticipantWe are creating a false sense of security.
Reb EliezerParticipantReb EliezerParticipantWhen we open up without a cure and vaccine, people stop following the necessary precautions and the virus continues its day.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe Chudushei Harim explains that the snake was cursed by providing it its food and telling it, here is your food and don’t bother Me. We should thank Hashem that he wants our service, wants us to pray to Him for our sustenance and He does not push us away from Him. ‘הללוי-ה הללו את ה we praise Hashem for being able to praise Him.
Reb EliezerParticipantWhat does testing help? If you have the virus, what can you do about it, and if you don’t have it, you still need all the precautions to watch out not to get it. So act like you have it without testing.
Reb EliezerParticipantFirst we must unite ourselves by not being אחד בפה ואחד בלב speaking differently than what is in our heart, being fake, then we can become one, united with others.
May 22, 2020 7:43 pm at 7:43 pm in reply to: President Donald Trump, Oheiv Yisroel Par Excellence #1863713Reb EliezerParticipantJoeeph, he did not do it for the Jews but for the Evangelists. He is not doing us any favor by encouraging the elderly Jews to get sick. The Agudah knows better when it is time to open shuls up.
Reb EliezerParticipantMilhouse, I am surprised at you. Is that why 100,000 died?
Reb EliezerParticipantI don’t agree. A tree falling in the forest makes a noise whether you hear it or not. The cases are there and must be mitigated whether you test for it or not. Like a neder it says, מוצא שפתך תשמור ועשית כאשר נדרת don’t make a neder but do like you made one. Assume you have the virus and wear a mask and distance yourself from others even if you did not have a test.
Reb EliezerParticipantsam1, testing does not create cases. We can test and not have any cases. Having cases shows that we are not properky following social distancing which is not good. If we don’t test the cases are still around and don’t disappear.
May 21, 2020 5:24 pm at 5:24 pm in reply to: Gravestone (matzeva) Inscriptions seeking opinions/advice #1863345Reb EliezerParticipantYou are right, ALEHO HASHOLAM would be not to disturb her peace by talking about her. תנצב’ה means to rest in Gan Eden.
