The MB O’CH 319,1 in his introduction there when it comes to בורר, selecting food, gives us three rules to keep in mind. We should always select the food from the throw away part. Take some good with the bad. When we select, eat it right away and don’t put it away for later. Don’t use a strainer in the process.

Our custom is to mention only the father’s name and mention on the bottom the mother’s name as the name of her mother so and so. WHO SACRIFICED THEIR LIFE AND WERE MURDERED BY THE NAZIS, THEIR BURIAL PLACES ARE UNKNOWN. You can mention their names and relationships individually both hebrew and english.
On the bottom you can write in hebrew תנצב’ה standing for תהי נפשם צרורה בצרור החיים the equivalent of rest in peace.

The Meharsho Shavuos 23,2 argues on the Maharshal above that it does not necessarily follow. Could be that he is eating it not because of achshevei, he is valuing it but because he thinks it is mutar.

Rashi’s view is that cooking less than the shiur is considered a half a shiur and is assur biblically. The problem is how is it חזי לאצטרופי, cumulative? If we write one letter I can see it by adding another letter but cooking less than a shiur where the shiur is determined when we put it in the pot. The Chacham Tzvi 86, says that by chametz baal yiroeh for less than a shiur does not apply. Maybe the reason is achshevei, putting a value on it by doing it but that only applies according to Rebbi Shimon who according to the Maharshal holds that eating a shiur שלא כדרך אכילתו, not the normal way, is assur as eating a half a shiur.

Another interesting saying of our president. It is a good thing that we have a lot cases because it shows that we have a lot of testing. These people might die ch’v but it is a good thing. The existence of the virus cases has nothing to do with the testing.

There is an argument between Rashi and Tosfas in the meaning of מלאכה שאינה צריכה לגופה. According Rashi in the mishna later 93,2 it is a destructive work where you rather not need to do it and you do it away from yourself like removing a dead person. Tosfas on 94,1 Rebbi Shimon has many questions on Rashi like once he is dead, the removal is necessary, so Tosfas explains that the work is not done for the purpose as it was done in the mishkan.

The mishna says that there are forty minus one avos malochos, asks the Tosfas Yom Tov why does it not say thirty nine. He answers that there are really forty malochos as sewing requires a knot but it is not counted being part of the malochoh of sewing.
The mishna refers to the individual doing the work whereas the Rambam refers to the work itself הזורע vs הזריעה? Answers the Magen Avos by Rav Mordechai Binet ztz”l that the Rambam follows his view that מלאכה שאינה צריכה לגופה work not done for its own purpose is also chayev so it is not dependent on the person doing it. The difference between a פסיק רישא is as explained by Rabbenu Avraham, the son of the Rambam as quoted by the Kesef Mishna, by the former he is mechaven but not for the purpose done in the mishkan whereas the for the latter he is not mechaven at all and the melacha happens by itself.
Asks the Machtzis Hashekel O’CH 278, then why does Rabbi Shimon pater מלאכה שאינה צריכה לגופה when you are mechaven? He answers that since he is not mechaven for the purpose done in the mishkan, it is considered a reverse kavono and it is worse than having no kavono at all.

The story brought down by the Tiferes Yisroel at the end of Maseches Kiddushin, where it says that the best of the doctors belong in the gehinom. A king commissioned a painter to paint a picture of Moshe Rabbenu. When his servants, who know how to interpret a picture, saw it, they said that this is a picture of a wicked person with bad character. Each blamed the other. They blamed the painter and the painter blamed them. The King decided to see Moshe Rabbenu by himself. When he met him, he looked exactly as his painting, so the king asked him, how come you look like a wicked person? He said its true that is how I look like but my job is to overcome my tendencies. Similarly the doctor has a tendency to think that he is the one who can heal someone, but he must fight it and realize that Hashem gives him the ability to heal. The Tzetil Katan says that our job in this world is to overcome our nature. Yosef was able to overcome his nature so the yam split overcoming its nature. If someone enunciates the words in krias shema correctly, they cool of the gehinom for him because he is fighting his nature, so they change the nature of the gehinom for him.

    שבת סט,ב

The gemora says that every day he can work for his sustenance even shabbos. I heard this is the meaning of זכור את יום השבת לקדשו if you remember shabbos to keep it holy. then ששת ימים תעבד ועשית כל מלאכתך you can work six days and do all the work without having to refrain from doing more than your sustenance, ויום השביעי שבת לה’ אלקיך and the seventh day is shabbos for Hashem your G-d ךא תעשה כל מלאכה you won’t have to do any work even for sustenance.
The GRA explains that the word ‘אות היא ‘לעלם in ושמרו is missing a vov to tell us the alternate meaning of hidden
that if shabbos will be hidden and forgotten when it is, then count six days and celebrate as shabbos the seventh day as shabbos like the day of creation.

Are you looking at per capita,, repeating another stupidity from him? We might have done more tasting but not more testing. Our president is puting his head in the sand. If he does not see ir, it doesn’t exist. When a tree falls in the forest and no one is there, does it make a noise? If you close your eyes, do things disappear? Testing does not create viruses.

“Everything that makes these communities so beautiful is likely a factor that puts them at risk in this situation,” Mr. Seligson said. “To really understand how the virus is spreading within these communities, one really needs to understand how these communities operate on a regular basis.”
He said the community was vulnerable to the virus not because of isolated incidents of rule-breaking but instead because of the very things that make it vibrant: tight-knit families, a commitment to ritual and multi-generational households where the very young and very old live side by side.

We find by Bilom that he was told when he saddled his donkey by Hashem , wicked one
Avraham already did that. Bilom wanted the zechus of the Jews learning from the fervor he does sins to do mitzvos. So Hashem said, we don’t need your lesson as Avraham already did that.

The Ben Ish Chai applies the pasuk לא יחצו ימיהם we don’t half the days. Yitzchok Avinu argued that we should not be responsible for half of our life as we are sleeping. When someone lends money with ribis, money also accumulates when he is sleeping. ואני אבטח בך but I have trust in you and I don’t have to lend money with ribis and therefore my days will be divided in half.

It says השופט אשר יהי-ה בימים ההם the judge who is around in his time. Says the Hafloah:

The pasuk is telling us, even if the second judge argues on the first who is greater than him, he must listen to the current judge. According to the simple pshat, because we must listen to the judge according to the times and generation. They provide us the judge from the heavens for the current generation as this generation is not worthy to appreciate the greatness of the previous generation.

It says שקר החן והבל היופי grace is a lie and vanity is fleeting being temporary. Grace might be flattery and beauty is in eyes of the beholder. אשה יראת ה’ היא תתהלל a G-d fearing woman is really praiseworthy, as mentioned above by the bais yakov maidel. The importance is her inner character. If you are there, you don’t have to shout. Someone who feels really beautiful from the inside does not have to show off. There is usually an inferiority complex.

The reason for shemittah might be:

Shmita was given on Har Sinai similar to the midbar where they were free to learn so are we free to learn for the year where we refrain from working the field. Says the Yismach Moshe that shmita is against all the shabbosim that were not properly observed for seven years. A year we have 52 shabbosim with one day left behind so in seven years we have 364 shabbosim (7 x 52) with the day left behind makes it exactly 365 shabbosim.

If for themselves a small amount is enough as they appreciate the small amount given to them because it comes from Hashem, the Great Provider, the King of Kings, midah kaneged midah, Hashem appreciates the small amount of mitzvos they do, recognizing that they are only a human being.

שמח בחור בילדותך, young man enjoy yourself in your youth, the Dubner Magid has a mashel on this. There was a poor man with only a back pack who was looking for a place to stay and get some food. Another man saw this. Wanting to have a little fun, tells the poor man, come this is my hotel stay here and eat to your hearts content. After a while the proprietor hands him a bill. The only thing he has is his back pack and he must give that up. Going outside saddened, he meets this joker who tells him, you got caught in my joke but now you might as well go back and eat and drink because you have nothing else to lose. This is the yetzer hara, first he tell him enjoy yourself and then he tells him ודע כי על כל אלה יביאך האלקים במשפט realize that for everything you did you will be judges, so you might as well continue doing what you were doing as there is no more help for you.
