The Mattersdorfer Rav ztz’l explained the passage עם הארץ אסור לאכול בשר, an am haaretz is not allowed to eat meat because he sends his son to college so is chaish lemeuta, the minority that he will come out as good as he went in. The gemora questions according Rebbi Meir, how one could eat meat maybe he shechted at the windpipe or the veshet, the food pipe in place of a hole, therefore, we go after the rov, the majority but he goes after the minority. I said to be careful not be like Haran to go in the fire because Avraham survived. I was specially careful not to go to unnecessary places like the student center.

There is a story which happened with the Chasan Sofer. Rav Shmuel zy’a, the grandson of the Chasam Sofer, was learning with a candle in his hand and he fell asleep dropping the candle. The gemora started to burn. The Chasam Sofer came in a dream to his mother, daughter of the Chasam Sofer, telling her to rush as he son is in danger. The gemora, half burned still exists by the Ehrenfeld family.

Einstein’s Theory explains the creation from nothing i.e. not material but from energy. The Rash quotes the Pythagorean Theorem in Kilaim 5,5 in the name of Chachmei Hamidos.

Rav Moshe ztz’l says that for the second day Rosh Hashana, we use a new fruit even when available the whole year. Why does not the one who makes Kiddush were a new suit. There is an argument on safek brachos lehakel, to say it or not. Maybe, the argument might be if going after Rabbenu Tam, Rosh Hashana 33, that an unnecessary brachacha is a derabonon or the Rambam that it is because of Lo Sisa.

The Dirshu MB O’CH 225,11 brings an argument between the Shevat Halevi, Rav Wosner ztz’l who says, if having simcha make it, otherwise don’t. The above Aruch Hashulchan explains that we make a shecheyanu by eating because we are not on the level to enjoy it just by seeing it. So, if is around all the time, does not affect us until we have it in front of us to be able to eat it. Rav Elyoshov ztz’l says that we should praise Hashem for giving us the new fruit. So, even if we don’t feel the enjoyment directly but unconsciously we feel it, and therefore, we should making in any case.

Science helps us in understanding the Torah. Gresham’s Law in economics helps to the understand a mishna in Bava Metzia. הזהב קונה את הכסף, gold acquires silver because silver becomes the currency and gold a commodity. Why? Gresham’s Law says, bad money drives out good money from circulation. The bad money here is silver which becomes currency, being spent and gold will be horded and not spent becoming a commodity.

When it comes to a refuah, we should daven to be cured by Hashem by Whom it is said rofecha with a feh whereas by a doctor it says verapo yerapei with a pei. The Rabbenu Bachaya explains that by Hashem, His cure is light whereas a doctor’s is harsh. By a doctor their is double expression as by them there could be a side effect which by Hashem does not exist. Also, we mind need a second opinion but not by Hashem.

It says כי יד על כס י-ה the aleph is missing and the shem Hashem is not complete but will become complete leasid lavo ימלא ה’ יהי’ כל משאלתך, Hashem’s name should be completed should be all of our wishes. The Rabbenu Bachaya says that the word אוה from אוה למושב לו indicates this. The Kol Aryeh gives an implication הוא לבדו יעשה לכם. We should work on ‘הוא’ which is the same as ‘אוה’ should not be left on its own but be part of Hashem.

In the introduction to part of tefila, Oz Yashir, it says originally חומה, wall with a vov and then חמה without a vov, anger. The GRA explains that originally it also says בתוך הים ביבשה referring to Nachshon ben Aminodov who jumped into the water before it dried out, so it says with a vov, wall, whereas later it says ביבשה בתוך הים, for the rest of the Jews where they went into the dry water in the sea, saying it without a vov meaning anger.

Part of tefila is laining. The GRA explains why Moshe Rabbenu was told to write zechiras amaleik, the remembrance of ameleik in the sefer and make Yehushua hear the proper pronunciation. The sefer Torah has no nekudos, vowels so the word zecher can be read as Yaov thought zochor, only killing out the males of amaleik.

The parable is to the father who carries his son on his shoulders providing all his needs. A person asks the son, where is your father? He says, I don’t know, so the father throws him to the dogs. We must realize that Hashem carries us on His shoulders and provides us all of our needs.

The Miidrash says ויסב אלקים את העם דרך המדבר Hashem took the nation in a round about way through the desert מכאן שאפילו עני שבישראל לא יאכל עד שיסב we see from here that even the poor of the Jews should not eat until reclining. Aren’t we taking yasev out of its meaning? The Jews in the desert had to completely rely on Hashem for His help of survival. Similarly, the poor should be happy and see themselves as the one in the desert because of their trust in Hashem that He will provide their livelihood and therefore be wanting to recline at the seder. We should feel like this poor person who relies on Hashem for his livelihood.

The holy Berdichaver explains in Kadushas Levi how the mitzryim went into the sea when they saw the supper natural of its splitting. When the ruler of mitzryim heard the argument from the ruler of the sea that the Jews also worshipped a’z, was passed on to the mitzryim, and they felt a sense of victory believing that the Jews are not better than they are, which encouraged them to go into the sea.

In order not to forget that parnasa comes from Hashem, the Ksav Sofer interprets the pasuk וה’ הולך לפניהם יומם when Hashem provides a person daytime, hatzlacha, success, he should not think that only his effort contributed to this but think of בעמוד ענן the pillar of the dark cloud, it can turn bad לנחותם הדרך to lead him through life, ולילה at night when things are bad, keep in mind בעמוד אש להאיר להם the pillar of fire to light up the way by changing life to success, ללכת יומם ולילה this will help him to live when going good or bad. The Chasan Sofer, the student says on the Haggadah, בשעה שיש מצה ומרור מונחים לפנך teaching us for the year to keep the good and bad always in front of us. When going good, think of the bad and vice versa when going bad, think of the good.

it says קשה פרנסתו של אדם כקריעת ים סוף for Hashem, providing a livelihood is as hard as the splitting of the sea, a hidden miracle and it comes in an unexpected way. When we put the hishtadlus, effort into it, it does not necessarily come from that effort. The Chidushei Harim explains that no one expected the splitting of the sea.

As we see by the Parasha of the Mon that every individual got an equal portion, so how does one receive more than kedei chayov, necessary for one’s survival? The Dubner Maggid explains that Hashem commanded to give maaser and therefore one gets ten times as much.

The tribe of Ephraim miscalculated 400 years from bris ben habsorim but it really was 430, thirty years before their promised redemption, where the 400 years was from the birth of Yitzchak. This caused them to get killed. The Targun Yonason in the beginning of Parashas Beshalach explains that Hashem took the Jews in a round about away in order they should not see the 200,000 dead corpses that Yesezkel Hanavi saw being ressurected in the atzamas yeveshos prophesy.
