The Chasan Sofer explains the expression as eishes Potifar encouraged Yosef day by day, he did not listen to her. This is a reflection of the yetzer hara, bad inclination, who nudges a person constantly to sin by encourages him with all kinds of justifications, whereas the yetzer tov, good inclination, does not need to nudge as he has good merchandise which speaks for itself. Yosef thought that she had honorable intentions, but then she does not need to talk so much. Maybe, Yaakov Avinu taught Yosef to watch out for this and don’t follow the advice which comes from the yetzer hara which Yosef remembered when the father’s face appeared in front of him.

The Rabbenu Bachaya in Parashas Korach explains the reason keeping our feet together at the shmonei esrei besides being like malachim. We want to show that without Hashem’s help our feet are tied and thereby we recognize that only He can grant our wishes and no one else. That is what the first three brochos depict. One, there is a Supreme Being who remembers what our forefathers accomplished and brings the redemption in their zechusim. Two, He is mashgiach on us constantly and provides us our needs. Three, He is the only One able to give us this provision and therefore, the only One to daven to.

We ask Hashem, don’t bring me to temptation and to shame. We are not Yosef. If You bring me to temptation, You will bring me to shame as I will not be able to pass the test.

The Chidushei Harim asks, what kind of curse was it to the snake to eat dust which is available everywhere? He answers, Hashem told it, here is your food and don’t bother me. We praise Hashem that we can praise Him and He wants to listen to our prayer. Hilel praised Hashem day by day that He provides food for a day at a time requiring to pray for the rest.

Therefore, we ask Hashem, maleh mishalos libbenu letovah, fulfill our wishes for the good. I don’t know if it is good for me, so only grant my wishes when it is good for me.

It is a question of the Baal Haikarim, Hashem does not change his mind, so how does davenen make Him change? He answers that He does not change but we change through davenen by bringing us closer to Hashem. It says in Ashrei, the will of those who fear Him He does and then He listens to their voices. He fulfilled their will before davening so what are they asking for? Sometimes one asks something that is not good for him but Hashem grants his wishes anyway and then he davens to change and undo it.

Yishai had doubts as Boaz died, thereby thinking that he has relationship with a shifcha. His wife took her place which she never revealed to him from which David Hamelech emerged. Shmuel Hanovi, later ruled with his beis din that a moavis was not included in the prohibition.

thirteen. The relationship is unique. They are both connected to Hashem. איש through the ,י,

The Berditchever ztz’l on kol nidrei night went through the shul looking under the tables. The chasiddim were wondering what was he looking for? When he finished, he went to the bima and said, Ribonei Shel Olam, you gave the Jews a day when there is a mitzva to eat but I cannot find one drunk under the table whereas the umas haolam on their new year drink themselves under the table. We look backwards at our Rosh Hashana to learn what improvements we can make for the New Year whereas they look ahead and say, should old acquaintance be forgot and let bygones be bygones.

Can someone explain to me what was the point? A person says to his friend, if you eat a half a frog, I give you a $100. He eats it and says, you know what, if you eat the other half, you don’t have to pay. They both end up eating a half a frog for nothing. Trump signed it anyway.
