popa_bar_abbaParticipant
Bar mitzva is too early to be dating. Even if there is a shidduch crisis.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantThat is sort of condescending of you; but I’ll respond anyway. The rambam says Hashem will be mezache to them, like He is zoche to the kohanim and leviim–which are communal obligations.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantPoppa, that quote tells us that anyone make aspire to kesser Torah, and trust in the havtocho of divine providence. It does not indicate that an individual or community should sit and learn with a hand stuck out.
Quite the contrary, it is precisely saying the community must support them, as well as relieve them of sharing all societal burdens, like shevet levi.
GAW: I disagree with you about the reading. Parak me’al tzavaro means they decide not to engage in productive activity, and rely on the community like the leviim, as I noted.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantno, it was 1230 AM
popa_bar_abbaParticipantThe chareidim are the ones who follow the rambam. The rambam writes at the end of hilchos shmita v’yovel:
???? ?? ??? ??? ????? ??? ????? ??????? ?? ????? ???? ?????? ????? ?? ?”? ????? ??????? ????? ?????? ??????? ??????? ?????, ????? ???? ?????? ????? ?????? ??????. ????? ?????? ????? ?????. ?? ?????? ????? ???? ?????, ??? ??????, ??? ????? ????? ??? ????. ??? ?? ??? ??? ????? ??? ?”? ????. ???? ???? ??? ???? ??? ????? ??? ???? ??????. ??? ??? ??? ????, ??? ?? ??? ???? ??? ??? ????? ??? ???? ???? ???? ?????? ???? ????? ????? ???? ?”? ????? ??????? ???? ?? ?”? ???? ??? ??? ????? ?????? ???? ??? ????? ??? ???????? ????? ??? ???? ??? ????, ??? ?? ????? ??? ?????, ????? ?”? ???? ?????? ????? ??????? ??????. ????? ?? ???”? ??? ?????? ?? ??? ???? ?????? ?????. ??? ??? ?”? ???? ?”? ??? ???? ????? ??? ????? ????
So don’t throw your rambams at me, because I throw it right back.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantwhy is everyone sleeping when I’m awake?
popa_bar_abbaParticipantoh yes indeed
popa_bar_abbaParticipantwhy is everyone sleeping when I’m awake?
popa_bar_abbaParticipantthat people are obligated to choose austerity and hard work
hmm. How about sequester and hard work?
popa_bar_abbaParticipantmatza. Not dairy, but can become gebrochts
popa_bar_abbaParticipantyeah, this is sort of what I expected. My posting is not cynical. I’m still self-aware.
But today, I said something really cynical. The flight attendant announced that if you return someone’s smile today, you’ll have Irish luck. So I said to the person next to me “you mean like I’ll have a civil war rip my country apart for hundreds of years?”
popa_bar_abbaParticipantI don’t need the dati; I don’t need the MO; I don’t need any of them.
If you want to be part of the community, you ought to clean out your house. I can’t trust any of you when you tolerate the clowns in your midst.
popa_bar_abbaParticipanton a plane!!!!!
somewhere I guess above alaska, because the inflight wifi doesn’t work above canada because it’s a third world country.
I think I spotted sharp, or maybe that was someone’s cat in a bag under a seat.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantnisht brew kit. Brew kit is for plebians.
We assembled the whole thing from scratch. Not very hard.
You need:
Mashtun. Take picnic cooler, install a washing machine hose on the inside of the spigot, and a valve on the outside of the spigot.
Kettle. Use a 10 gallon pot.
Buckets. At a homebrew store.
And there you are.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantEat only goose shmaltz. The modernishe chicken shmaltz is what makes your fat.
Think about it. Geese can fly; chickens just waddle around.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantYes, rabbidr, I discussed this notion with aforementioned dentist, and I predicted correctly that they can tell both if you never brush, as well as if you only brush when coming to the dentist.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantI actually do sing different words in hatikva, based on a recording I heard from pre-war europe in yad v’shem.
They sang:
??? ?? ???? ????????
????? ??????
???? ???? ???????
???? ???? ??? ?? ???
But, the only part of that I like better is that the tikva was “lashuv l’eretz avoseinu”, I don’t really have a preference whether it was a tikva noshana v. shnot alpaim. So I sing shnot alpaim and yerushalaim, but eretz avoseinu.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantDY: Why yes, that thread was.
Syag: It’s ok. I don’t believe you think I’m cynical anyway. I think you don’t like my posts for other reasons, but, I think that it unfortunately is usually a misunderstanding between the twain of us.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantsyag: post it right here. It’s open season on popa in this thread.
March 17, 2013 1:56 pm at 1:56 pm in reply to: Kosher L'Pesach Cigarettes: Is Something Wrong With This? #938065popa_bar_abbaParticipantneed seminary: you can make a list that looks like that for most foods.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantFarock: It is much worse than that; she didn’t say it at all–Tina Fey said it on SNL while impersonating her.
The source for Tina Fey was an interview were Palin noted that you can see Russia from one of the far islands that are part of Alaska.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantSo your ideal endgame is to give the country to Turkey. Fascinating.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantWell mdd, you are incorrect about that, if we assume that not being forced into a shmad army is better even when you also aren’t paid.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantRidiculous. Yeshivas let it; why won’t the seminaries.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantakuperma: you may be correct about the rest of it, but it is way wishful thinking that the chareidim or anyone can end the war with the arabs except by dismantling the state and agreeing to live in the dar al islam.
Notwithstanding media coverage to the contrary, the reasons for the conflict have nothing to do with settlements or with land captured in the six day war. The proof of this is the six day war, ????.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantsharp: You are not interpreting the post correctly.
popa_bar_abbaParticipanta toque is a ski cap, in canada
popa_bar_abbaParticipantpack your teddy bear in case you get lonely
No need. They have real ones.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantI will help.

popa_bar_abbaParticipantHmmm, we have more subtle differences.
One is by ????. My father stretches out the word azor and then bunches ??????? ?????? together, while we don’t. Our way is better.
Another is the last two lines, where there really is an extra line. We solve this by simply repeating the last notes. But my father just bunches both phrases into one line of notes.
Also, I’m feeling very attacked that someone else was m’chavein to our minhag. It makes me feel less unique.
popa_bar_abbaParticipant“she is cynical”?!?
I know, I had the same reaction. Why did he think I am cynical?
I should add that it is appropriate to link to cynical or non-cynical posts when you state your opinion.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantMy family also has such machloksim, but we just sing each our own.
Post what the shailos are.
(We have a really good seder machlokes. See, some of the kids hagados from school have the anthem from Ossoi Medinah in the back, so some of us sing that. Then, the others respond by drowning them out with B’shilton Hakofrim.)
popa_bar_abbaParticipantMaybe they think there is no frumkeit in Haifa and therefore it is a good place to live.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantNo yeshiva guy would date a girl from Seminar. Try guys from Brooklyn college.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantI’ll wear a touke.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantmidwest: We made lethal beans for shabbos. Stop on by.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantAnd people in alaska http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/come-with-popa
popa_bar_abbaParticipantSpeak to a lawyer. I wonder if you can withhold your monthly maintenance payments and put them in escrow until they fix it.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantyou took the words right out of my mouth
Sorry, was aiming for teeth. Open up again and I’ll try with the pliers.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantIt’s too late for me not to read this thread.
But your taking the wind out of my sails was better than mine out of yours.
Good job.
Ah, this is much better. In this post, you are pretending to not be a troll–but you are cleverly masking it in a compliment, which takes down the target’s guard and they bite the bait.
Well done. Take this one to the big leagues.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantYou stole my line
Again, first the positives.
Like DY’s, this has the benefit of being short and concise. I don’t mean to imply that short concise posts are better, since it is only one style and sometimes an idea really calls for a long intricate post. But, in the beginning of a thread a short concise one is often really good.
However, this style is really very hard to pull off, since it is tricky to make it also clear enough that people will understand it. Simply posting “you stole my line” will usually leave people scratching their head.
Keep at it! I know you can!
popa_bar_abbaParticipantDaasYochid
a singular mind
Too late…
Thank you DY for contributing the first submission.
First I will talk about the positives. When your troll post is a response, it is very beneficial if you are the first response on the thread, since you can then set the route the discussion will take. A good example of this can be found here: http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/here-we-go-again-1
Also, I like how you very gently take all the air out of your target’s sails, by just simply and bluntly stating that her object is unattainable.
So all in all, I’d say this is an excellent first attempt; you should be proud of yourself.
Now let’s discuss how to make it even better than it already is.
It isn’t immediately clear what you mean when you say it is “too late.” Perhaps you mean that it is too late for anyone to post any troll posts for them to be critiqued, but you don’t explain why that would be so.
So, this is a good path, and I’d like you to keep on the same idea. See how you can make it clearer what you mean. I look forward to reviewing your edits.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantWIY: I don’t provide commentary for my posts. You either understand them or don’t.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantlol
You’re getting better, getting better. I could give you some lessons, but I think I should charge you.
Isn’t that a wonderful idea? I should give trolling lessons. How much would you be willing to pay?
popa_bar_abbaParticipantSo, first poster has an abusive parent. Second poster responds that his parent is even more abusive.
Sammy: your experience is also illegitimate, because some people have parents who lock them in cages.
talmud: I’m drunk; this happens every now and again.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantBut for my christian brothers and sisters, I am really proud for them
What narishkeit is this? They are not your brothers and sisters. If you give that title to every human, what title do you save for your family, the am hanivchar, the bnei yisroel?
March 15, 2013 4:07 am at 4:07 am in reply to: Kosher L'Pesach Cigarettes: Is Something Wrong With This? #938055popa_bar_abbaParticipantthe little I know:
That is apikorsus.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantI am the popa.
Also, you are not a non-jew; you are a troll. There is a difference. The difference that you are a frum jew who thinks it is funny to troll us. And it might be funny; but you have to say some funny things, not just be a retard.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantI complain that Sheep without a spleen and Bar Shattya are not online yet.
popa_bar_abbaParticipantThis is what happens when parents are retarded babies and don’t teach their teenage kids to drive. The sons graduate high school, go off to yeshiva, go to Israel, come back and start dating and don’t know how to drive.
